I like 'Midnight Rain' a lot, but I don't really see it as a single. With the way the song ends it almost feels like an interlude. I think 'Bejeweled' and 'Karma' are the most obvious choices for single, though both rank towards the bottom of the album for me. I do wonder how many singles we will end up with and if we'll get a random guest on a remix a la Shawn Mendes to boost one.

TBH, I didn't like more than half of the main album. I would've preferred one of the 3AM tracks for single, but if they had to choose from the main album, one of Karma or Snow On the Beach would've been my preference.

Given with what's happening with Kanyé recently and his fans admit they're Switfies on Reddit, Karma would be a great choice :kii:

Karma is definitely potentially catchy radio fodder and I’m absolutely a fan of it.
But I STAN Midnight Rain and Maroon and I would love if singles 3 and 4 went that way. I selfishly want videos for both.

Midnight Rain screams to be a single AllAccess has added it to their Cool New Music page as a "For Your Consideration" pick, so I would say it's at least being considered by Taylor's team as the third single on pop radio.

Midnight Rain is easily my favorite song on the album. Shame it’s so short.

Idk why it wouldn't be eligible for 4x platinum when it is actually close to hitting 4 million SPS. Especially considering you have albums out there that are over-certified by millions comparatively to what they actually sold even when you factor in streaming figures as well.

Especially considering you have albums out there that are over-certified by millions comparatively to what they actually sold even when you factor in streaming figures as well. There’s always been a bit of a disconnect between albums consumed vs certifications. In the days of sales, certifications were based off of number of copies sold from the label, not sold from retail, so a CD could ship 4 million copies, get certified 4x platinum but have 1 million copies sitting in stores and back rooms across the country. Now with streaming, I assume that’s less likely to happen (unless it’s a 30 situation where they get half a million vinyl printed but only half of them sell right away).

'Folklore' is still doing 20K a week, so it should be 4x platinum very soon. It's wild that by end of year it will basically match the previous year's sales.
'Lover' should be 4x, 'Rep' should be 5x, and 'Red TV' and 'Evermore' should be 2x. All of these albums already are or will be past those marks within a few weeks in SPS, although there is some weirdness with how the RIAA calculates SPS. I would say definitely by early 2023 they should be eligible.

My thoughts on the singles:
1. "Anti-Hero" 1.5 "Snow On The Beach" (AAA - perhaps send to Alt/HAC/AC as well - not holding my breath on Alt though?) 2. "Lavender Haze" 2.5 "You're On Your Own, Kid" (AAA/HAC/AC) 3. "Midnight Rain" 3.5."Would've, Could've, Should've" (AAA/Alt/HAC/AC) 4. "Karma" 5. "Maroon" 6. "Question...?"
Hoping they'll release quite a few singles from the album given how well it's done and that she's slowed down her release schedule allowing her to focus on one big era (particularly with her upcoming tour to support the album).
Watch her release Speak Now (Taylor's Version), 1989 (Taylor's Version) and a brand new studio album in November/December 2023 now that I've said that. :)

Once again, 9 albums on the BB200, the debut getting paid dust haha. 1989 spends it's 8th year (416 weeks) on the chart!

It's so wild how entirely forgotten the debut is. It had crazy longevity during the 'Fearless' era, so it's not like people stopped listening to it the second a bigger hit overshadowed it. I'm looking forward to the TV having people give the material a second look.
Speaking of TV's, with Speak Now pretty much confirmed next, I feel like like the order will most likely be 1) Speak Now, 2) 1989, 3) debut, 4) Reputation. I suppose she could wait to do 1989 last, but I think putting it shortly after the 'Midnights' era ends would be a wise bet to maximize its potential.

Oh wow! Searchlight is a great studio and she wrote the script herself. I hope this works out for her, but I'm skeptical. It might have been better to sell an original screenplay first before trying for both.

I knew this was coming eventually, and it makes her campaigning for ATW so hard make a bit more sense. She wanted to legitimize herself in the industry a bit before her first film. And this announcement was also obviously timed to be part of her campaign for ATW, lol.
Her directing has been decent so far, very literal, but music videos are different than films. Hopefully it's decent! I do wonder if it's the rumoured TLGAD feature film?

Oh good point, there is definitely room for a story around the Harkness family.

I feel like a more ambitious project, like a longer short film or even a feature-length film, is coming in the next years. She really said "ask and you shall receive"!!! I do wonder if it's the rumoured TLGAD feature film? Oh I was actually wondering what genre she would tackle first and what kind of script she would write but that's a great idea! I would love a semi-biographical film on Rebekah Harkness with the mystery/dark comedy energy that Knives Out & Only Murders in The Building had.

I think it'll be a huge panned bomb like Madonna's W.E., but Taylor may surprise us (chances seem low though).

Excited for the film to come out. I have a feeling it will be a critically acclaimed indie success. If there's one thing we can always count on is quality from Taylor. I can't wait to get more information tho.

Yes and both The Lorax and Valentine's Day are classics I have not seen Cats tho. I refuse to support her obsession with felines but i'm glad she had fun!

honestly, while her choice in the things she appears in might be questionable, its not like she's featured for long enough in any of those to judge her for what she can do in terms of filmmaking. the connections and experience of being on set for those films are good enough reasons to want to be there. personally, i wished she would make one or two non-music video short films before taking the leap into directing an entire feature-length movie, but i won't be surprised either if her first movie directing gig is as a co-director with a more established filmmaker.

What if the reason she kind of ignored Evermore is because...she was writing her screenplay tying all of the songs together as people and happenings in her mythical, 1950s era small American town? What would you all say to that? And if that's the case, what stories/songs from the album are you looking forward to her bringing to life on the screen?
