I wont be surprised if this actually beats Joker's October opening weekend record ($96 million) tbh. Me neither! This is going to have an unprecedented run for a concert film.

I don't see her opening with 100 million at all. That's big for a film, let alone for a concert film.

Ha Very good, Mr. Blum.
Thanks, bonicap. The promo indicates all albums, so something from the debut from those dates has to be present... right? :) That would leave "Our Song."

Wow, I can't believe she's coming to save theatres during the strike. What a generous queen.
Edit: Just got three tix for Oct 15. Excited!

I couldn't go opening night because of ACL, but fortunately, it seems like it's playing all the way through October so I was able to get a really good seat at the lux theater close to me with reclining seats and dining-in service. Sadly, it's not playing in the IMAX theaters here (though, there is only one "true" IMAX here, as a lot of theaters call themselves IMAX and are just...slightly bigger screens and slightly better sound), but it wouldn't surprise me if they add it at some point. Right now, the IMAX here is only playing the Talking Heads concert film in September.

For some of the larger theatres here in Cleveland, there are between 14-20 showings on Saturday and Sunday that opening weekend. Plus if there are other movies around that time that are playing to empty auditoriums, theatre managers and theatre chain bookers have the ability to cancel other movies and add more showtimes if demand is there. We used to do that all the time when I worked for Regal while in college and the Harry Potter and Twilight crazes were happening. I wouldn’t be surprised to see midnight (pun intended) or 3 am showings added that first weekend to meet demand. It also wouldn’t surprise me one bit to have her change the surprise songs or have different versions of the concert film playing so it is indeed a surprise which songs you get. I didn't know you were also in Cleveland :)

Got my three tickets! I’m so excited to get to see all the choreo and Vigilante Shit in high definition. No major releases in October (Five Nights of Freddie’s and Exorcist) may draw more casual viewers to watch this. I’m guessing 60 million opening, 113 million when all is said and done.

After searching for eons comparing prices and amenities and all of that, I did manage to snag tickets for opening night for an IMAX showing! Sooooo many are sold out or nearly sold out already lol. It's a 9:30pm showing 😬 but my old ass will stay up super late for Taylor. Also, I was intrigued that this particular showing was restricted to 18+ unless with a guardian. Hoping that will negate what surely will be a bunch of obnoxious teens in my showing.
I'm super excited! There's no way this will be a normal movie showing, I'm expecting cheers and singing and general excitement like a Rocky Horror showing or something.
Also, I couldn't help but laugh at my thought process through ordering the tickets: "Oh, god, $60 is so much money for 2 movie tickets." "Okay, but that's also like 5% of what two tickets to the actual show would've been, so it's actually a steal, right?"

LOL I feel like people who are seeing the movie in IMAX are like the people who got normal seats for the Eras Tour vs people who got floor. I'm still debating if I actually want to crash my friend's trip to Paris to see Taylor. Her parents surprised her with a trip to Paris and tickets to the show as a congrats gift for completing one of her nursing programs. She is like 30 years old. I can't complain because my parents still buy me nice birthday and Christmas gifts but...nothing that extravagant! It's awesome though. I just know if I go I will be spending way more money than any one person should, but I would justify it as being an expensive side trip of an already expensive vacation. I mean, that's essentially what the Amsterdam trip last month was when I was originally just planning on London.

I'm not sure how big her concert film will open tbh. I really doubt 100 million is feasible as that number just seems too huge, even for Taylor to do all by herself. I do think she'll top Bieber's $29 million opening ($73 million total) however and will go on to take the title for the highest grossing concert film ever though! I am gonna say she opens with around $45-50 million, which would be amazing!

I assume it will releases in different continents after she plays live? I hope so. But Taylor is doing something unusual and partnering with a movie theater chain (amc) to distribute the film instead of a studio. This is AMC's first big release to distribute. AMC has far less theaters in other countries and so doesn't have the same capability to distribute it. AMC partnered with Cinemark to show the film so that's why it's being shown in Mexico and Canada, countries where they are a good number of Cinemark theaters. Taylor's parents negotiated the AMC deal and so they would likely have to negotiate multiple other deals to get international distribution.

Either way Taylor is gonna win big and theatre chains will have a lot of goodwill toward her since she essentially saved them from what would have otherwise been an incredibly barren Fall slate

Um, so this could actually be pretty big at the box office. $100 million opening isn't really all that ridiculous IMO.
Edit: lol, don't know how the tweet managed to get deleted while I was making the post. It stated presales for the film in the first 24 hours was the highest AMC has ever seen and also placed it as the third most presale tickets sold in 24 hours ever across all chains.

Assuming the other chains bring it up to $29 million, then that already secured it as the biggest opening for a concert film ever.
And it's not even out yet.

And this is from AMC alone, not including other chains. I was so worried a theatrical concert film would flop and now she's going to have the highest grossing one ever Truly the biggest

The only thing that worries me about this is after seeing / hearing on social media how feral some people were, faces beet red, screaming at the top of their lungs every single word, I hope they realize they're still in a movie theatre and should probably dial it back a little. Have fun, get up, sing and dance, I don't care, I'll be bopping in my seat too but... it's a different atmosphere than the actual concert venue.

Total first day presales were north of $37 million (only counting AMC, Regal, and Cinemark). Can probably throw a couple million onto that from Canada (and Mexico, but their numbers will count separately).

I’ve got my big screen tickets to the concert of the century!!!! Opening night!!
I am still hell bent on doing everything I can to see the show in person here in Indy, but this will easily suffice if that never happens.

Streaming premiere expected towards the end of the year or early 2024. Can't wait to see it on my 60 inch screen (it's not coming to theaters here sadly).

Truth be told, the sound quality will be better than in a stadium and you will probably have a better view!
