The 2nd single from their new album 'Get Rollin'. Mike Kroeger says this will be out in 2 weeks time. Music video made for it too.

Sounds like the Hot AC/Pop/Alt single. Heavy drum and extremely melodic. Sounds like it has potential but it depends on the lyrics and Chad's singing.

That is an insanely creative lyric video that is not worthy of the song it was made for, which is basically "nostalgia, the song". Chad's voice has withered a lot too, though considering he sounded like his old self on "San Quentin" he may be intentionally doing an affect to his delivery. I want to like it, but it's just not quite there for me.
Hot AC is going to eat this up if it's sent there, though.

Chad's voice has withered a lot too, though considering he sounded like his old self on "San Quentin" he may be intentionally doing an affect to his delivery. I want to like it, but it's just not quite there for me. Hot AC is going to eat this up if it's sent there, though. Nickelback hasn't hit the top 10 on Hot AC since 2010 with "This Afternoon" all the way in the Dark Horse era. "When We Stand Together" and "Lullaby" hit #12 and #15 respectively from Here and Now and "What Are You Waiting For?" from No Fixed Address peaked at #26 in 2014 and that was their last charter. Hot AC has changed drastically and doesn't really care about them / their sound anymore. Also, I'm not sure if Chad's voice has withered or what, but I've kind of noticed his voice on the pop songs have sounded drastically worse over the years while the rock songs still sound (mostly) like him – I think "San Quentin" is the first song I heard where he sounds rougher than usual. Chris Baseford has been their exclusive producer since No Fixed Address, and I've always thought their sound has gotten to be worse quality since he started producing them. It's odd because when you listen to them live Chad still sounds like pretty much like himself in their heyday. As for the song, it's fine. I think I would have liked this more if it were released 10 years ago. Chad just sounds off on it. It feels like a rehash of "Every Time We're Together" from the last album which is better than this is. Maybe it'll grow on me. I've been forever on the boat of them staying in the rock lane rather than making songs like this again though, so maybe I'm not the target audience anymore, lol.

I noticed his voice his a bit different on the song too, especially when comparing to san quentin. Its only a minor speed bump for me though. Overall since i’m a sucker for nostalgia i am really loving the song, and the lyric video is awesome! I would love to see this hit on HAC, but if nothing has charted for them in the last 10 years there, i guess i have my doubts this will either. Its too bad though, if HAC would re embrace pop/rock songs like this i would prob actually listen to it more, as i hardly ever do these days. If only radio would go back to….those days😎

There is clearly something being done to his vocals here, especially in the verses, kind like a echo/reverb maybe ? Solid song but feels more like an album track or 4th single rather than a lead single.
Supposedly 'Tidal Wave' is a very different sound for them. Maybe they wanna keep it safe and not put off fans with an out of left field opening single.

This is me completely guessing, but judging from the lyric leak on that one, I could see them trying their hand at surf rock for it, lol. That's like the only genre I can see being "left field" for that one.

Loving it. Flows super easy on the lyrics. Chad sounds perfecty fine to me. There is gonna be some echo and other vocals effix. It is the 2020's. To answer the song's question? I'd be listening to better songs in those days. Download/check.

Official video. Its decent enough i suppose but the lyric video is better. I wish we were in about 10-15 years ago so this could smash.

Goes for Active adds on March 14th. Interesting to see them go down this path with Active, but it's worked for Shinedown and Three Days Grace before, so maybe it'll work for them too.

I much prefer a Nickelback pop song to a Nickelback rawk song (I think?), and I do like this slightly more than San Quentin. Chorus is decent, but damn these verses sound so bad. I'm not entirely sure what Chad is doing vocally here, but it's uh very different for him and not in a great way.

This one has grown on me. I still think Chad's vocals sound rough in some parts, but overall, it's a nice Nickelback pop rock song.
