a reminder that Thriller isn't even MJ's best Halloween song (there's a reason I don't have it in my playlist) In your opinion, which song is MJ's best Halloween song?

thriller already hit the top 10 tho. That “record“ would be a big asterisk

Re: Thriller - the charts don't align great with Halloween on Monday in the unlikely event it could even happen. I'd think this pretty good, no? For the most part it just gets streams on Halloween weekend for parties and on Halloween day itself. When Halloween is on a weekend then those align, whereas being on a Monday means more days of streams. So, it should have like 4 days of solid streams that chart week.

True. I Want You Back jumped into the top 10 in the very last week of 1969.

Thriller is somewhat a ripoff of Off The Wall which i think is better . take away the Vincent Price rap and video and it would not be as popular. American actor

I felt the same way. Thriller sounded liked OTW to me. I definitely prefer the song Off The Wall over the song Thriller.

American actor The radio edit didn't have Vincent Price maybe when it was a single back in the 80's radio played that version but at Halloween at least they play the longer version.

ITA with 4 solid days, but if Halloween falls on Wed or Thursday - you still get Halloween weekend parties, a couple of weekdays + Halloween during the full tracking week. This year will those 3 'dead' days weigh it down? Scratch my comment about 40th Anniversary edition - not released until Nov. 18! Those should've released it before Halloween. The 18th doesn't even align with the 40th Anniversary (Nov. 30), so no reason why they couldn't get it out 3 weeks sooner.

In your opinion, which song is MJ's best Halloween song? I like Dirty Diana and Somebody's Watching Me much more How is Dirty Diana a Halloween song? I mean, I'm pretty liberal when it comes to adding songs to my Halloween playlists, but that one seems like a pretty huge stretch to me.

It's got a dark atmosphere and dark subject matter which is all it needs to be counted imo. Idk, Thriller is more camp whilst there is a sense of danger in Dirty Diana.

Without such a concerted and well-timed label or industry push, I don't see this going anywhere near #1 based solely off a fan-driven campaign, at least not anytime soon, as from its charting history it hasn't shown enough year-upon year growth the same way something like All I Want for Christmas is You has, and of course Halloween songs don't experience nearly the same type of seasonal resurgence, in terms of both streams and airplay, that Christmas songs do.

Then that means Dakiti is a Halloween song, and I will not call it a Halloween song at all. Funny thing is, it was released one day before Halloween.

But not that surprising given Abel's gone on the record as saying Dirty Diana is his favorite Michael Jackson song

And that's not even getting into features like Low Life, 6 Inch, Pray 4 Love (SKELETONS as well, Travis and Abel should collab more often tbh), Or Nah, Might Not

Apparently, according to Pulse, anything is a Halloween song. So that means I can say Sunroof and California Gurls, cause having a head, just a head, out of a sunroof is hella creepy, and California Gurls is a happy song, just like how trick or treating is happy. Or what about Candy Shop by 50 Cent, cause candy goes with trick or treating you know.

Hmmm ok. I always thought "Thriller" was considered a Halloween song because of the lyrics and video, helped by Vincent Price of course.

I'd also add: Too Late, In Your Eyes (the sound not so much, but with the MV yeah), Gasoline, Heaven or Las Vegas, Wanderlust.

To be fair I could actually see a few of Abel's songs getting a decent spike in streams on Halloween
