The doors Jelly Roll opened. I actually don't mind this though. If the new direction for the active chart is crossover hits from country artists I guess that would be...interesting.

Yea Jelly Roll opened some serious doors and I could see Hardy doing very well especially being pushed by Big Loud Rock.

I’ve always said Active should embrace the country artists who make borderline southern rock songs (like Eric Church and Brantley Gilbert). This is really solid. Has kind of a late 90’s grunge feel to it.

I suppose his upcoming album is part rock (song titles in caps) and part country (song titles in lowercase)? Just wish it would happen sooner (Chris Stapleton, Blackberry Smoke, Whiskey Myers (pre self-titled)) and not by this Big Loud group though. The fact that someone thinks Jelly Roll opens doors is disheartening to see.

at the two miniute mark the song goes from grunge to postgrunge and sorta becomes interesting. 'nuff said.

Southern-fried Candlebox more or less. Not bad, tbh. It builds up to nicely to when it explodes at the end into a classic Silverchair-like eruption.

Maybe because i’m used to him singing country, its weird for me to hear him rock out like this. I don’t know if i like his voice on this, but i do like the song. Really like the buildup. I think i would like the song more if Hardy had a little bit deeper voice though. That said i hope this does well, i’m definitely here for this sound!

The fact that someone thinks Jelly Roll opens doors is disheartening to see. I meant Jelly Roll opened the doors for country acts being a major force on the active chart, not for country acts to start making rock music or even charting lol (and I said that tongue in cheek at that). As you mentioned, Chris Stapleton and Whiskey Myers have already had a few songs chart here themselves (if only minorly), and that's not to mention the Cory Marks song that went top 10 last year ZBB's #1 in 2015, or how much country rock was on the chart back in the 90s. This is shooting up the charts right now, Koe Wetzel went for adds last month, and arguably the hottest new name on the chart rn, Giovannie and the Hired Guns, is a Big Loud artist as well (I believe) and are touring with Brantley Gilbert & Jelly Roll, so like. I do think there is something to be said about this chart's openness to country rock crossover hits in a post-Dead Man Walking World.

Actually Warner Music Nashville but yeah, they are marketed to both (Texas) country and rock listeners (maybe even three with Latin as hinted by the Rolling Stone article) I also want to clarify a bit this is not intended as a criticism to you, but rather I saw some narratives online that this is a completely new concept. The main point is I think these attempts are subpar and there were better but underappreciated efforts before.

Southern-fried Candlebox more or less. Not bad, tbh. It builds up to nicely to when it explodes at the end into a classic Silverchair-like eruption. You noticed it too? The guitars in the quieter parts of this song remind me a lot of the guitars in the quieter parts of "Change" by Candlebox. When I first heard this song, I detected a combination of country, Southern rock and grunge.
I already know this song is going to be on my short list of favorites for 2023.

Time to release “SOLD OUT”. Would be another #1 imo, just a straight energizer perfect for live shows.
