Parts of this song are exceptional. Other parts are downright grating. Verse 1: ok Pre-chorus: amazing, catchy, “I keep my side of the street clean, you wouldn’t know what I mean” ICONIC Chorus: grating, annoying Verse 2: better than verse 1, or am I just happy the chorus is over? Pre-chorus: oh yeah I’m into this now, love Chorus: ugh, not again, why??? Vapid. Bridge: wow, perfect, who writes better bridges than TS? Delivery is on point and I’m sold again. KARMA IS THE THUNDER YES TELL ME MORE! Chorus: I cannot

Karma is a showcase of both the worst and best of pop Taylor tbh. All the things that made those who love her, love her, and those who hate her, hate her

Karma is a showcase of both the worst and best of pop Taylor tbh. All the things that made those who love her, love her, and those who hate her, hate her I think this is accurate. The first time I heard it my first thought was "omg with these lyrics" but it is catchy as HELL and honestly now I love it. It's also my daughter's favorite song (she's almost 10 - we have the clean version, haha), so I was kind of forced to accept it. The lyrics are still pretty juvenile in spots but it's a total bop. I'm here for it. (For the record, I would have chosen Midnight Rain or Maroon.)

Already showing up on the Spincreases list with a +71 from 53 stations. With how low the top 50 threshold is these days, it shouldn't be too long before this shows up in the top 50.

The lyrical content is more cute than petty, in my eyes anyway. This was one of the few I kept on my liked list, so I’m happy it’s being released.

I get why some wanted Midnight Rain, but if we’re being realistic, it would’ve never worked at radio. Bejeweled and Karma were the only remaining viable options.
I’m not surprised they went with Karma because not only it feels summery, it’s also starting to go viral on TikTok. Bejeweled might would’ve tested better but Karma is the fresher out of the two since Bejeweled already had a video.
I’m excited to hear it on the radio this summer, I think it’ll be fun to bop along in the car!

Y’all Karma was the right choice. It fits with the incoming “summer vibez”, I can see this being remixed for the dance floor, etc.
And as others have noted, this album was so popular, you kinda have to go with the biggest ear worm / lowest burn song for the GP at this point. Karma fits that.
I get people are bummed about Midnight Rain, but, alas. In another life it would have had its moment.

I'm also happy that they're going with this as the third single. One of my favorites on the album.

Gonna be honest I thought Midnights was very, uh, MID. So I kinda clocked out after like the first 4 tracks and never got to this one, but this is actually pretty good. It's not her best song obviously but the hook is really good and it's catchy, so it should be a decent hit for her.

This was obviously going to be the 3rd single. Bejeweled's hook isn't close to as good and this is basically viral on tik tok. Kudos to her team

Coming for that 3rd top 10 hit in a row on Pop radio. *_* although technically a hit, I wouldn't really call Lavender Haze any sort of lasting hit since it literally COLLAPSED after it peaked. It's almost like it wasn't supposed to be there in the first place. But alas, it is what it is. But it's pretty telling. When radio can't wait to stop playing you, what is that telling you?

Is this satire? "Lavender Haze" charted on pop radio for 6 months (25 weeks) before "collapsing". It's spent 9 weeks in the top 10 on chr/pop so far ("Wildest Dreams" spent 12 for comparison). It's reached recurrency status and is unquestionably a hit. I'm not sure how slowly you were expecting a song tha's been charting for so long to drop, but yeah. Big drops post peak are more commonplace these days and is only going to become more common as radio caters to dwindling societal attention spans.

KARMA IS A CAT PURRING IN MY LAP CUZ IT LOVES ME
I vibe with this song so much honestly. I think it’s a great she can write and release a song that’s just fun. Not every lyric needs to be deep and introspective.

I don’t see this doing that great. I don’t think anything would tbh, but midnight rain, the great war, and maroon would all have been better choices. Even vigilante shit. I’d rather her just push cruel summer though. Especially after die for you showed it could be done.

Maroon isn't performed on the tour for some reason so that was never going to be a single and it would be a bad choice for the summer anyway. Midnight Rain would similarly work better in the fall/winter. If she was going to push a bonus track, it should have been Hits Different.
I think this was the best choice (other than Hits Different, which I hope is released in late summer). Not sure if she'll do a fourth or fifth single, though.

She’s not gonna release Hits Different because it will draw attention to her breakup. It’s one of the reasons Maroon isn’t performed on the tour.

Forgot about hits different. That needs to be a single. It sounds more summer than the other few I mentioned, although I think the importance of a summer feel is overstated. A song like maroon which ostensibly sounds more “winter” could still do just as well in summer.
