First two extras for today are by this Hall Of Famer from Gary, Indiana. The follow-up to her #1 smash "That's The Way Love Goes" topped the dance chart and peaked at #3 on the R&B chart and #4 on the Hot 100. Contains a sample of "Someday We'll Be Together" by Diana Ross & The Supremes.
The music video won MTV Video Music Awards for Best Female Video and Best Dance Video.

Her next single topped the Hot 100 and peaked at #7 for R&B. Also appearing on the soundtrack to Poetic Justice, in which she stars with Tupac Shakur, it was nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Original Song.

13. Knockin' Da Boots - H-TownBABY-MAKIN' MUSIC ALERT!Formed in Houston, the aptly titled H-Town consisted of twin brothers Keven "Dino" and Solomon "Shazam" Conner and Darryl "G.I." Jackson. Orignally known as The Gents, they got their big break when they auditioned for Luke Campbell (of 2 Live Crew), who signed them to his label Luke Records. Their first charted single, "Knockin' Da Boots", was the lead single from their debut studio album Fever For Da Flavor. It went to become one of the biggest hits of 1993, peaking inside the Top 5 on the Hot 100, and helped them win a Soul Train Award for Best R&B/Soul Or Rap New Artist. It samples the Zapp song "Be Alright". Glad I made Tag Team finish above my last place. BTW, I think you tagged the wrong person for that reveal. Didn't expect Xscape to last this long.

Gangsta Lean deserved the notoriety that Whoomp! has gotten.

Nothing too surprising for me other than Whoomp! not being in last place where it belongs.

I would normally rank Whoomp There It Is higher on most lists but this list was pretty strong.
Honestly, Whoomp is just pretty catchy and kind of fun, doesn't annoy me.
Does anyone else hear The Way You Move from OutKast in the verses flow???

Got a couple more extras for today. The lead single from her album Music Box was this Hot 100 charttopper. It didn't quite get there on the main R&B chart, peaking at #2, but it did snag a week atop the R&B airplay chart. Samples "Blind Alley" by The Emotions.
Dreamlover - Mariah Carey
And here we have another song that topped the R&B airplay, but stopped short of topping the main R&B chart, peaking at #3. On the Hot 100, it peaked at #6. Samples "Looking Up To You" by Michael Wycoff.
Hey Mr. D.J. - Zhané

"Dreamlover" would've been my #2 on this list if it had made it. One of my favorite uptempo Mimi jams.

Gangsta Lean - DRSStatsChart Entry: October 9, 1993 Peak Date: November 13, 1993 Weeks At #1: 6 Weeks In Top 10: 12 Weeks On Chart: 21 Hot 100 Peak: #4 Points: 113 Average: 11.58 Standard Deviation: 3.031 (4th lowest)wyckyd - 13 One of the few cassette singles in my collection, and the only cassette maxi-single I have so far. I randomly found it in one of my local shops one day and bought it on a whim. Decent song, would’ve ranked it higher if ‘93 wasn’t as stacked as it was!
