Released as the third and final single from The Predator, "Check Yo Self" was one of the biggest hits for former N.W.A member Ice Cube, topping the R&B and rap charts peaking inside the Top 20 on the Hot 100. The popular remix samples the Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five classic "The Message", while the original version samples "It's The New Style" by The Beastie Boys.

7. Just Kickin' It - Xscape

Formed in Atlanta, Xscape was originally a quintet consisting of sisters LaTocha and Tamika Scott, Kandi Burruss, Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, and Tamera Coggins-Wynn. Tamera left a year later, and the group continued on as a quartet. They got their big break performing at Jermaine Dupri's birthday party. He was so impressed by them that when he created his label So So Def Records, Xscape was the first act he signed.

"Just Kickin' It" was the first single from their debut album Hummin' Comin' At Cha and was a hit right out of the box, reaching the Top 5 on the Hot 100 and going platinum.

The remix samples the Staple Singers classic "Let's Do It Again".

"It Was A Good Day" would have easily been my #2 in this.

5. Can We Talk - Tevin Campbell

The lead single from his sophomore album I'm Ready, "Can We Talk" became one of Tevin's biggest hits, reaching the Top 10 on the Hot 100 and is generally considered his signature song. Written and produced by Babyface and Daryl Simmons, it was nominated for a Grammy for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance and for a Soul Train Award for Best Male R&B/Soul Single.

Formed in New York City, SWV (which stands for Sisters With Voices) consists of Cheryl "Coko" Gamble, Tamara "Taj" Johnson, and Leanne "Lelee" Lyons. After getting their break by singing in front of executives for RCA, they were signed and began working on their debut album.

"Weak" was the third single from that album, It's About Time. It went on to top the R&B and Hot 100 charts and is certified triple platinum, making it their biggest hit.
