A band with this name having a song of this title really fits well. Also one of the first Latino punk bands, so that's cool.

literally the first top-40 ranking out, wow
91
After the Fire "One Rule for You"
Points: 191 Standard Deviation: 19.24 Ranking minus my list: #90
76 @crapkuki23 99 singingrulebritannia This song was almost played on the UK show "Top of the Pops", but the performance was cancelled due to an electrical strike. It almost made it out of the bottom 10 too, yet stayed in the bottom 10 at the last minute.
Their bigger hit, though, is "Der Kommisar". #90 through #71 should be revealed on Tuesday, 12/19. Peace.

100. Pere Ubu - "49 Guitars & One Girl" Did anyone else get a drunk Jimmy Hendrix vibe here. Just awful from all angles.
99. Rachel Sweet - "Who Does Lisa Like?" The music was alright, but the vocals were tune out city.
98. Dave Edmonds - "Crawling from the Wreckage" Dave Edmund's vocals didn't do anything for me, until Jeff Lynne stepped in. Jeff made Dave's vocals work amazingly well with his 1983 hits "Slipping Away" and "Information".
97. Gruppo Sportivo - "Beep Beep Love" At times this sounded like a cheesy version of Madness.
96. The Plugz - "Electrify Me" Didn't know they were Latino. I expected a lot more from a song called "Eectrify Me". The Elvis Costello vibe was enjoyable.
95. Marianne Faithfull - "Broken English" TBH I only recalled her name from a Metallica single (forget the name). Her vocals sound like they need some getting used to.
94. Kleenex - "Ain't You" I mean I normally would dig on some female beatnik punk style, but this one was all over the place. Thank goodness we evetually got the Go-Go's.
93. The Dickies - "Where Did His Eye Go?" Only recall seeing this band on some obscure 80's music lists. Not a fan of these vocals. They are as annoying as hell.
92. Chrome - "TV As Eyes" Nice to be clearing my tank early on. This had 0 melody value to it. 91. After the Fire - "One Rule for You" I really enjoyed this one. Big difference from "Der Kommisar" cover, but that synth riff had some Progressive vibes to it. I know I have heard it on a Yes song somewhere.
You know this wouldn't be a true PULSE rd if I didn't lose at least one top half song in day one of reveals.

Glad to see some of those go. A few were flat out bad. Happy that we've barely scratched my top two thirds so far.

For reference, I love my whole top 43 to varying degrees, believe my whole top 80 is great, and only don't like 1 song here (and it's not even a very pointed dislike). This is maybe the most high quality 100-song rankdown I've ever sent for that isn't a RateYourMusic rankdown. It'll be really hard to go significantly wrong with any way these results turn out.

Alright, so I do in fact have time today to reveal. I'm about to start revealing #90 through #71. Big load, I guess, but I'll be fine. Edit: I apologize, I will be revealing tomorrow around 10 AM.

90
James Chance & the Contortionists "Contort Yourself"
Points: 203 Standard Deviation: 21.94 Ranking without my list: #88
87 @crapkuki23 99 gonecountry James Chance still sometimes does street performances in New York. This genre is called "No Wave", which is basically abstract Jazz tuned up to a 20 out of 10 in intensity, I can definitely appreciate the guys energy here, so there's that.
Up next: rankings will range from #51 to a #98.

89 Public Image, Ltd. "Swan Lake"
Points: 223 Standard Deviation: 14.37 Ranking without my list: #87
73 @crapkuki23
This band was the project of Sex Pistols lead singer Johnny Rotten (John Lydon). It's also sometimes called "Death Disco", which I think is a fitting name, it's also based on a Tchaikovsky piece called "Swan Lake" (He was a classical musician) My ranking for this: 3.5/5
Up next: Another person almost loses a top 50 (Almost), and 3 users almost lose a bottom 10 (again, almost)

The Undertones "Jimmy Jimmy"
Points: 227 Standard Deviation: 13.96 Ranking without my list: 84
56 @crapkuki23
OOOOOHHHH Yeah, I expected this one to do a lot better, I'd rank it 3.5/5 personally. Also, the lead singer Feargal Sharkey is an avid fisherman and is an activist for cleaner waterways, which is awesome (my college major is Environmental Science, for the record).
Up next: One top-30 lost and one bottom 10 lost

85 Selector "On My Radio"
Points: 237 Standard Deviation: 16.09 Ranking without my list: #80
91 @crapkuki23
One of several songs on this RD from the birth of 2-Tone ska. The lead singer also performed with the Gorillaz on tour. Personal rating: 3.5/5
Up next: This song was tied with "On My Radio" for points. Two 40's rankings are out and someone loses a bottom 5.

Points: 242 Standard Deviation: 34.01 (Probably one of the highest on here) Ranking without my list: #78
99 @crapkuki23 100 singingrulebritannia I liked this fine, but the list was stacked enough that this still managed to get bottom 10 for me. Personal rating: 3/5

80 Adam and the Ants "Zerox"
Points: 265 Standard Deviation: 12.70 Ranking without my list: #83
48 @crapkuki23 86 gonecountry This might be my favorite of the songs I've heard from them, it sounds a lot different from the stuff that got ranked in 1981. Also, his original backing band would later form Bow Wow Wow. My personal ranking: 4.5/5
Up next: Two top-50 losses, including a top-25 loss. Plus, two bottom-10's of the same ranking

Points: 270 Standard Deviation: 22.73 Ranking without my list: #74
77 @crapkuki23
The Mandela Effect of music romance themes. For the record, this would probably have gone in the top 50 if I'd had a list on the 1979 Active rankdown. Personal rating: 3/5
Up next: One top-50 (barely) and two 80's rankings.

Points: 271 Standard Deviation: 14.51 Ranking without my list: #79
