I wasn't sure how quickly I'd clear my bottom 10 in this rankdown, given there were only 8 lists and some of them could be quite different from mine, but I'm happy to see it didn't take that long. For reference, "Good Girls Don't" was my #64 and "Bad Case of Loving You" was my #90 in 1979 Mainstream Rock, and I'd still call that rankdown better than average, so that tells you how far this list is above everything that came before it.

Dave Edmonds "Girls Talk"
Points: 277 Standard Deviation: 16.28 Ranking without my list: #75
90 @crapkuki23
Apparently the "living end" reference is from a 50's movie based on Rock n Roll and Elvis Presley. This same reference led to the name of the 90's band The Living End, who did "Prisoner of Society". Personal rating: 3.5/5
Up next: A song with two rankings in the 30's and two bottom-10's lost.

76 The Slits "Typical Girls"
Points: 280 Standard Deviation: 21.99 Ranking without my list: #82
71 @crapkuki23 92 American Idiot The lead singer Ari Up was 17 when this came out. Neneh Cherry was also a background singer for the record this came from (she later had songs in the late 80s/ early 90s on Alt rankdowns, including one with REM). I also like how the background music sounds a bit like "London Calling" (even though the album came out a few month before the Clash one came out). Personal ranking: 4.5/5
Up next: Two bottom-10 rankings, and three top-50 rankings also.

This one caused alot of controversy more recently due to the n-word being used in the second verse of this song. Anyway, here's the obligatory low-ranking for an Elvis Costello song. Will "Accidents Will Happen" make the top-50? We will see

82 @crapkuki23 97 American IdiotPersonal ranking: 3/5

Congrats, American Idiot for clearing your #100. You win a trip to the dock of Tiger Bay.
72
Ian Dury and the Blockheads "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick"
Points: 292 Standard Deviation: 27.39 Ranking without my list: #66
75 @crapkuki23
Two Fat Persons, Click Click Click. I can appreciate the use of him speaking in other languages at certain points, and listing all these different locations around the world, which is kinda unique. But still, I could only give it a 3/5 (I only put 5 songs below a 3/5). This guy is also older than Paul McCartney.
Up next: Someone loses a top 10 and another loses a bottom 5.

Points: 337 Standard Deviation: 15.74 Ranking without my list: #70

In late 1976, Chrissie Hynde actually auditioned for this band and failed. The Pretenders are now far more well-known than 999. The band's namesake is the emergency number in the UK.
Up next: This is the last rank I'm revealing for today. It has only two top-50 ranks and nobody ranked it below 80.

Siouxsie and the Banshees "Playground Twist"
Points: 338 Standard Deviation: 11.16 Ranking without my list: #64
54 @crapkuki23
This is actually the worst performance of any Siouxsie and the Banshees song in a rock rankdown here. Her next lowest was a #57 with "Swimming Horses" in 1984. This band also had the first #1 on an Alt chart when the actual chart first came out in 1988, with "Peak-A-Boo". I'm pretty familiar with their music, since me and my Mom had 5 CD's of theirs when I was young.

oh fuck you guys you seriously don't like The Damned of all bands? Machine Gun Etiquette is one of the best punk albums of the 70s, bar none. Frankly not much tops it in any other era either

"I'd like to fly but I can't even swim"
The Kinks were once banned from the US in the mid-60's due to their chaotic concerts. Personal ranking: 4/5 (This one is the lowest I ranked to have at least a 4/5, meaning I ranked 76 songs on here a 4/5 or higher)
Up next: Two top-30 rankings go out the window, and one person ranked it almost bottom-10.

HURRAH TALAH
The Clash had a song in the bottom 50 on the 1980 Alt Year End and the same thing happens here. For these guys, I don't know if I can give any fun facts here - there are so much out there about them. I would absolutely recommend anyone on here to look at the documentary "The Future is Unwritten". These guys were also instrumental in forming the Rock Against Racism festival in the late-70s. Personal rating: 4/5
Up next: One top-20 gone, and one bottom-20 gone.
