Both American Idiot and I have no more songs outside our bottom 20's. Ernesto, you are the first one to only have songs in your top-10 left, this ought to leave you happy as a giant clam.
Up next: #4 has 3 top 5's, another 2 ranked it top 10.
{here are the actual videos for Rock Lobster and Video Killed the Radio Star}

"One Way or Another" needs to GO It has no business being one of the last two Blondie songs standing, let alone in the top 4

15. Bauhaus - "Bela Lugosi's Dead"Really creepy sounding song. Not exactly melodic, but it works as early darkwave. It has grown on me since I discovered it on one of these rds. 14. The Records - "Starry Eyes"My lowest rank remaining. I've heard it elsewhere. Doesn't really strike me as 70's nor 80's sounding at all. More like 90's. Passable, but none to exciting. 13. Gang of Four - "Damaged Goods"Loved the harder Alternative Rock style this one had, and it seems like this was their first big charter? The only other song I ever recall from this band is the famous "I Love A Man In A Uniform" which is a New Wave classic. 12. Blondie - "Dreaming"More greatest hits from Blondie. 11. The Talking Heads - "Life During Wartime" A fun sounding song about War. That's probably why I enjoy it more. Blondie - One Way or Another The B-52's - Rock Lobster The Police - Message in a Bottle The Buggles - Video Killed the Radio Star Blondie - Heart of Glass The Cars - Let's Go The Ramones - I Wanna Be Sedated The Cars - Let the Good Times Roll Tubeway Army - Are Friends Electric Electric Light Orchestra - Don't Bring Me DownNow this is what I call a Top 10. I'll enjoy clicking and listen to every single one of them for the 100th time.10. Electric Light Orchestra - "Don't Bring Me Down"Love this song. I have to admit it might be a little off target for Modern Rock list, but than a gain so was "Pop Muzic", but I still love this band. What's my favorite ELO song you ask? No its' not "Xanadu"...... It's their most Disco influenced and barely became a top 40 scraper. cue sirens "Last Train To London". BTW who the F is Groos? I used to think he said Bruce. 9. The Cars - "Let the Good Times Roll"Two Cars songs make the top 10. My work is done. R.I.P Ric Ocasek. The good times are still rolling with the classic jams you left behind. 8. Tubeway Army - "Are Friends Electric?"Gotta love 80's Gary Numan. This is the highest I have ever ranked this song so I could give it a #1 rank next time it appears elsewhere. 7. The Cars - "Let's Go"You all never gonna let The Cars take the crown. Picture perfect perfection when come to a rock, pop and New Wave song. I feel peeps have the upper hand on me whenever this song appears on RDs. You know it will be my #1 song forever and a day, and you can always make sure I don't got the rank down crown. Either way songs have come and gone, but none come close to this musical treasure. ON a funny note is this like the only song about a 17 year old who loves the nightlife that PULSE digs? It kills me that one member who thought this top 10 blows is the one with both his #1 and #2 song left. It doesn't seem so bad now does it? 6. The Buggles - "Video Killed the Radio Star"I love this song. It's even been covered in Eurobeat fashion. This is also my anchor song from my 1979 Top 100, which I would rank way higher now if I ever decided to redo that list. 5. The B-52's - "Rock Lobster"So happy this one made the top 5. That final stretch of the song with the aquatic sounds is the most fun you will have in a song. Looks like Blondie might take the crown. I just hope it is with "Heart of Glass". In other news The Ramones at #1 would be "F U C K Yeah" great.

All the songs are at least great, but they could have been even better, and definitely could have reflected the "alternative" moniker more.

4 @crapkuki23
This one was nice to see it go this far, since all 4 of their songs from the 1980/1981 Alt rankdowns tanked. Funny that the music video from this song is actually from 1988, far later than the actual song came out.

I probably read to much into that.

4. Blondie - "One Way or Another"Classic Blondie is classic Blondie. I had a feeling the more Modern Rock sounding one would lost out to the poppier one, but it was a good feeling. Ouch that #45 rank really sticks out. 3. The Ramones - "I Wanna Be Sedated"Never really knew this was from 1979 until just recently. It was played on KROQ so often that I always thought it was mid 80's. I dare say it got more airplay in 90's than it ever did in the 80's. 2. The Police - "Message in a Bottle"Classic Police. The message in the bottle could read that this song has aged like some mighty fine wine. 1. Blondie - "Heart of Glass"I guess I didn't have to hope too much. A New Wave band shows that world they can produce a better song Disco song than an actual Disco band. This is why I prefer rockers to all other musicians. They can do it all. Optical ApexGreat fun. Love the extras and little info you threw at us along the way. I'm always there to revisit any 70 ad 80's rock related rank down. Wonder what you'll have for us in store next?

Well, I'm thinking about doing the 1974 Year End Hot 100 rankdown. Not quite rock-related, but there is some rock on there, mostly softer rock. I do plan to do more 70's alt rankdowns (1977/1978 lists, but none before that since there wasn't really much Alternative before that point)
