All 4 producers have worked on more alt inspired songs, especially Tyler (Cam, Harry Styles, Red era Taylor) and Kid Harpoon (Florence + the Machine, Maggie Rogers, Jessie Ware, Harry Styles, Lykke Li, Foxes). Greg also has lended his efforts many times to more alt and pop rock inspired stuff (some of Halsey's last album, Maggie Rogers, Gorillaz, She's All I Wanna Be by Tate McRae, Foo Fighters, Bleachers), so I do think the sound of this project will be somewhere in the alt-pop, pop rock, and synth-pop lane.

It seems like there's a lot of enthusiasm/excitement/buzz for this project on social media; Plastic Hearts might have only been a moderate success commercially, but I think its great critical success has done a fantastic job stoking renewed enthusiasm and interest in Miley as a performer and an artist. I'm cautiously optimistic that this will be a big era for her. Think Flowers can go top ten?

Plastic Hearts is her magnum opus, but the marketing and names attached to this make me think she's going to be the one to (finally) pull the trigger and take us back to the early 2000's. At this point, the late 80's-90's "resurgence" has lasted longer than that era of music did. Give us some Neptunes/Timbaland inspired s**t already.

I really like the song. It’s been getting a ton of talk on social media.
One thing about Miley is something I’ve always noticed with Kelly Clarkson. It is really really hard to capture how amazing her voice is live. Something about the production or something in the process of recording that loses that special quality. Don’t get me wrong, she sounds great but not as great as any of the recent live vocals I’ve seen.

Ok, I’m mad I didn’t check out Plastic Hearts sooner. My top favs: WTF Plastic Hearts Gimme What I Want Night Crawling High Hate Me And of course the singles. I’d say the only song I didn’t love was Bad Karma. But, it wasn’t horrible by any means. I take that back, I love it now. lol ok, she released a perfect album! Damn, Miley!! One thing is love about Miley is how she is able to reinvent herself every era. From her Disney eras to Bangerz to Younger Now to Plastic Hearts to Endless Summer Vacation. She is constantly changing her look and sound and somehow it always works for her. this! she’s a multifaceted artist, and doesn’t push anything that doesn’t seem genuine, which I love. |
