I'm hoping that there is another song out before the album release. "Flowers" is still doing great, but just to build excitement.

Last weekend, a DJ - before playing 'Flowers' said the next single is the title track + samples 'Funky Town.' I could definitely imagine releasing a banger for Spring/*Summer*
Because of the unexpected, massive reception to Flowers, I wouldn't be surprised if some tweaks were made to the project. Ironically, there's a lot more pressure now to release worthy follow-up single(s).

4. Thousand Miles feat. Brandi Carlile Wicked Vanessa Carlton sample? 👀 Also, Devil Marlena Nylund, look at your girl getting a Miley feature! It's even right after a track named after you! Miley stans.

9) Muddy Feet (feat. Sia) - Miley Cyrus, Jesse Shatkin, Michael Pollack, Michael Len Williams II, Bibi Bourelly, Gregory "Aldae" Hein, Sia, Jesse Van Der Meulen, David Frank, Steve Kipner & Pam Sheyne
Those last 3 writers basically confirm it's a "Genie In A Bottle" sample or interpolation. Funny enough, Sia co-wrote "Crying In The Club" by Camila Cabello which also interpolates part of the song. Could ALSO be Dream's "He Loves U Not." Either way, it's definitely something from the late 90's/early 00's.

I could definitely imagine releasing a banger for Spring/*Summer* There is no title track (though it’s possible the phrase ESV is in the lyrics somewhere) and the writer of Funkytown is not listed in the credits. Kind of a bummer because I was curious to hear how they flipped it.

Damn. Kinda sad now but interested to see all of the Kid Harpoon production. I wonder how much like Harry's House it will sound, though KH has also worked with Florence and Jessie Ware (among others.) Also intrigued by James Blake and...Harmony Korine?! But...a Mike Will x Brandi Carlile collab??

I wonder if they have a second single already lined up or if they’re waiting to see which song takes off after the album release?

Maybe they don't want "Flowers" to overshadow single #2 so they're trying to work on timing.
It's hard to say though - there's artists like Taylor, Ed Sheeran, SZA, and Harry Styles who can easily chart multiple singles but then artists like Lizzo and Sam Smith where single #2 gets overshadowed. Given she's no longer with RCA, not sure where Miley falls.

I'd say, let the album release dictate single #2. She's in such a good position with Flowers, that the wrong single may slightly tumble the era (a la Lizzo). If the public chooses song 2, Flowers may still overshadow, but can have a decent sized hit (a la Harry) or be as strong as Flowers.

The thing is, letting release week choose the next single isn't always the best option. In fact, that's how 2 Be Loved was even selected. Adele's Oh My God as well.
But then these tracks weren't completely selected by the public, they were in fact the tracks listed first on the new music playlists for streaming services. So in a sense they were already selected beforehand, which is likely what will happen here too.

The album dropping in less than 4 days and we have not gotten an inch of promo or even a live performance of Flowers, I guess she is following the Beyoncé method pf promo for this era.

I could be wrong bc I don't pay attention to these things as much as I use to but isn't that par for the course for A List artists these days? Beyonce is an extreme example (not even a music video) but I don't recall Taylor Swift promoting Midnights much (if at all) either. Seems like the album is just released and then they go on tour to make money. Not saying I agree with this strategy...would love to see Miley do at least one TV appearance outside of Disney +, but seems like it is becoming the norm in the streaming era. Makes it less exciting for die hard fans but just my opinion.

Sounds really promising!
I hope the this is the quiet before the storm and come Friday she'll have multiple songs on Today's Top Hits/Banners on multiple big spotify playlists and general big support for the album.
Perhaps they are really confident in the quality of the album that they're going to let it speak for itself and do its own thing to a certain extent. With how massive "Flowers" has been, it certainly has really good ground work for that regarding streaming.

The album dropping in less than 4 days and we have not gotten an inch of promo or even a live performance of Flowers, I guess she is following the Beyoncé method pf promo for this era. She could do the P!nk method and do basically nothing until the album actually comes out and then suddenly she's everywhere. So long as it's not the Selena Gomez method and we get promo for like 3 days and then she moves on to other projects and it's like this album never existed lol. Really hoping we do get something soon, though. She isn't on the level of Beyoncé or Taylor and is able to release and album and have it do well with little to no effort. It's strange too because the build up to Flowers was great! Where did that go? Hell, even RCA had her out there doing stuff building up Plastic Hearts.

I'm down for that description! I'm guessing Flowers is the morning section of the album. Hoping the night section is reminiscent of the Plastic Hearts album.

That description sounds fire. It gives me Tensnake L.A. vibes which also fits her PM description to a tee. It's been awhile since I've anticipated an album this much from someone having mainstream success. I'm so used to stanning underrated, eccentric, and/or flop Queens. Feed us, Miley!

Flowers is the 1st track, so, unless she is putting night before daytime, I would say Flowers is definitely a daytime track. The Violet song Mike Will did sounds nocturnal. Looking forward to this. I got an Amazon gift card for Employee Appreciation Day at work so I'm gonna apply some of it to Miley!

I personally appreciate the old-school method of just having the lead single out there followed by the full album. I’d much rather take the full body of work in all at once versus hearing half of it ahead of time (yes, I’m aware you can choose not to listen to anything prior to the album release).
Promo is a separate thing; I thought she’d at least have some kind of TV interviews lined up for release week. This silence when you have the biggest song in the country is quite odd for an artist of her stature.
