Cause the world likes continuing to let known abusers in the Urban/Hip Hop industry still get hits for some reason. Yet SZA talks about killing an ex in her song. Cardi B talks about drugging men. If they were men or if the shoe was on the other foot it would be a huge controversy. Pot meet kettle? Btw I'm not advocating for Tory Lanez. He is a POS. Yes cause SZA actually is gonna kill her ex in the same way Chris Brown beats women, Kodak going on Instagram live to show a woman giving him oral or him immediately saying he'd "wait" for Nipsey Hussle's girlfriend immediately after his passing (rip), or Tory firing a gun at Megan Thee Stallion and then denying it. I mean unless you have evidence that SZA actually would do such a thing. The whole Cardi thing is from her pre fame days and isn't even clear exactly what happened, its word of mouth. Not that justifies it but it definitely has been talked about, idc bout Cardi like that but the other examples above are clear cut self evident truths. Men in the industry get it easier than woman and its a known fact. Also Kill Bill is far from the first song from a mainstream artist to sing about wanting to kill someone, its normal as a way of expressing the intrusive thought. I mean unless you really think they are just casually singing about plotting a real murder?

But this is begging to get twisted from what I stated previously.

Talking about doing something awful in a song and actually doing something awful are two different things

If we cancel SZA for singing about killing exes, we need to cancel the entirety of the music industry for teaching drugs, money, and sex to young children.
Soon we'll get 5-year-old Noah Anderson (made-up name) saying "Mommy, can i smack it & grip it?"

some of the other songs mentioned were not hits at pop radio . Kill Bill is now being pushed there . i like it and hope it is a hit there but some stations might be hesitant to play it unless there is an edit which i read somewhere there might be.

I remember the radio version of twenty one pilots' "Ride". The word "bullet" was bleeped. Radio is weird.

Didnβt Eminem get hits rapping about killing his ex? Those tracks weren't really hits, I think the most explicit radio hit Em got was "Cleanin' Out My Closet" which is about how much he hates his mom. Maybe "Shake Your Ass"? Otherwise "Crack A Bottle" is really explicit but it wasn't a huge hit (#1 on the Hot 100, poor longevity and not a hit at radio). The biggest hit of his career is "Lose Yourself" and it's probably his least explicit song, at least from that era of Em.

So how is singing a song about a fictional situation equal to a song by a person who actually committed bad deeds and crimes? May as well go out and cancel every actor and movie director too.

*Checks the Thread* What happened here? Anyways to bring it back to the Hot 100 Bebe Dame is set to gain quite a lot as it is rising up both Spotify and Apple Music. It is 22nd on Spotify US and reached as high as 6th at one point on AM recently. It's interesting how Regional Mexican (just naming it like the radio format) music has continued to see new heights on the charts. Perhaps we could see a Regional Mexican song make the Hot 100 year end sooner than later?
