Alright if people are actually going to be here and commenting, I'm willing to do 5 more so we're officially done with the bottom half. But just be advised that we have our FIRST #1 LOSS NEXT AT #60...... Nice, let's keep goin! I'm still working in the office, so having this reveal as a break is appreciated! My guess for #60 is My Bar. Let me just leave a hint that Priscilla Block couldn't sing the song at #60 if her life depended on it....
Edit: Honestly, most people couldn't!

I have seen the hype for Giving You Up or Kameron Marlowe in general online but never get it. Just another basic heavily pop-influenced "country" song.

"Gave It Back Broken" has a nice melody, but I suppose it was not strong enough as a follow-up. Shame that Callista is following the Caylee Hammack route. Neither deserved to flop.

There it is, the biggest hit of the year according to Billboard's year-end charts!! "Take My Name" was a top 50 contender for awhile, even making it as high as #35 at one point, but ended up gradually falling throughout the rest of the rankdown to end up here. I can definitely understand why people dislike this one, but Parmalee tends to have a knack for making really generic songs a lot better than they would have been if most other artists recorded them. They've pretty much made a career out of making depthless songs that I enjoy more from them than I would from anybody else, lmao. I actually don't understand it at all lol. I know I like Parmalee more than most on here, but still. That melody is fantastic. I don't really think it sounds generic either. I love that song and can't help but sing along every time it comes on!

RIP!!!!!!! The only reason I wanted to keep going right now is so that I didn't have to lose my #1 on my birthday!!!!!! Get it overwith now so I can enjoy my day tomorrow :'( Lmao Callista sings the absolute HELL out of this song!!!!! I can understand it not being everyone's cup of tea as a song and possibly even the more orchestral arrangement, but performance-wise there is nothing else from the past year that even comes CLOSE to the level of virtuosity and accomplishment that this one does! This vocal automatically elevates Callista to the level of vocal prowess that is occupied only by artists like Martina and Carrie. At the very least it proves that she is capable of SO much more than she gave us with her debut, "It's 'Cause I Am". This is the sound of an artist who has a MUCH more exciting vision than her debut would have led anyone to believe. It may not have been the most radio-friendly song, but I can't believe it didn't even chart! Now if only the rest of her album had been this good, lmao

Don't get how Take My Name or Truth About You lasted so long, but glad they are out now. I actually liked the latter for a time but then I looked more closely at the lyrics and learned more about the surrounding context, which together really helped sour that one for me on top of the already bad writing.

I don’t understand Callista at all. She definitely needed to wait a few years before trying to make it big, she feels so underdeveloped.

"Gave It Back Broken" was a pretty song but it wasn't radio-friendly in the SLIGHTEST. And I'm even more miffed that they picked that as her second single and completely derailed all her momentum considering there were a good 3-4 songs with obvious hit potential that would've at the very least charted. What an epic flop this was. </3

This is a directive that should be given to the weirdos who had this anywhere near their bottom 30, not the one who is recognizing talent!

I don’t understand what kind of artist Callista is trying to be - she went from bratty teenage in ICIA to soaring Martina mid-30s break up ballad. This never felt authentic, which was my biggest struggle with it because she can definitely sing

I have to think Priscilla Block is next. The fact she has made it this far is astonishing for me. I mean, I am happy about it but very shocked.

For Callista Clark, Heartbreak Song is 100% the radio smash and should be pushed instead of making a random remix as a third single.

On the other hand, it's pretty insane that we made it completely out of the bottom 50 before anyone lost a #1! Usually we have at least 1-3 people who epically flop with their #1! We seem to have a much more solid grasp of what the best songs were this year than in years past

Gave it Back Broken is quite solid but it lacks something to bring it over the top for me.

I don't understand the concept that "Truth About You" is apparently some misogynist anthem just because it's from the same guy that recorded the song "Bitches." Like, yeah, Mitchell Tenpenny may/may not suck as a person and I'm not really a fan of him as an artist, but the hook of 'Stop telling lies about me, and I won't tell the truth about you' is strong imo and I see nothing wrong with the content of the song? Equating the song to being misogynist based on its lyrics would be similar to saying some of Carrie Underwood's songs are anti-men, and in those you usually find out about how she kills them vs. "I'll tell people that you cheated on me."

65. "Wasted On You" - Morgan Wallen
Most of Dangerous was quite good, and this was definitely no exception. If you aren't a fan of the production on this then check out the dangerous sessions version, that was the one that clicked for me first.

"Slide" is another entry from the Canadian rankdown, unfortunately for Madeline Merlo. This song was actually a top half contender for most of the rankdown until the last couple lists. Madeline Merlo is growing on me more and more these days! "Slide" is pretty catchy! Her song from last year ("It Didn't") slayed even more though, so I'm okay seeing this leave now. She's starting to be one that I look forward to watching in the Canadian rankdowns though!

Madeline Merlo deserved better. "Slide" is cute.
That said, one of my absolutely favorite songs rn is another track from the EP. "I Need a Drink" sounds like a major SMASH!

79. "First Taste of Gone" - Josh Ross
77. "Wastin' Whiskey" - James Barker Band
76. "Kissed Me Like That" - Megan Dawson
Did CoJoFan and superdave3556 forget to join the Canadian RD, so decided to do mini Canadian country RD after ranking all the non-Canadian songs? 59. "Slide" - Madeline Merlo
Billboard Peak: NA (From the Canadian rd)
Wow, they really did just throw all the Canadian songs at the bottom. Probably just due to lack of familiarity. This is embarrassing. 🥴

I won't take this any further as to not derail bboat11's rankdown, but no it isn't just because its the same guy who made bitches (and for that matter the comparison with carrie doesn't hold water).
