I don't understand the concept that "Truth About You" is apparently some misogynist anthem just because it's from the same guy that recorded the song "Bitches." Like, yeah, Mitchell Tenpenny may/may not suck as a person and I'm not really a fan of him as an artist, but the hook of 'Stop telling lies about me, and I won't tell the truth about you' is strong imo and I see nothing wrong with the content of the song? Equating the song to being misogynist based on its lyrics would be similar to saying some of Carrie Underwood's songs are anti-men, and in those you usually find out about how she kills them vs. "I'll tell people that you cheated on me."  I won't take this any further as to not derail bboat11's rankdown, but no it isn't just because its the same guy who made bitches (and for that matter the comparison with carrie doesn't hold water). Why tho? I'm asking you to elaborate because I genuinely don't see how the song is so horrible, lol. I don't see how the Carrie comparison is off-base either. We assume her no-good-cheating man deserved DEATH in some of her songs so why is it not believable to think maybe his ex cheated on him and then ran around telling lies about who was unfaithful? It's fiction. |

As much as I don't like "Slide" or "We Did" it is a little off-putting to see two posters tank all the Canadian releases... just because? I try not to question the legitimacy of other's rankings, everyone has a right to like or dislike whatever they choose, but... it is odd and does make me go hmmm.

"Hell Yeah" has a nice hook in that it's not what you would expect, but otherwise this is quite a snoozer... Definitely a good time for it to leave imo.

Madeline Merlo deserved better. "Slide" is cute. That said, one of my absolutely favorite songs rn is another track from the EP. "I Need a Drink" sounds like a major SMASH! You coulda helped me out a bit more in the New Music RD! 8. "I Need A Drink" - Madeline Merlo
I would've probably ranked it top 10 if I had done it now! But in my defense, that was also a really strong month of new releases. I also *only* put Megan Moroney at #10 back then, but I'd prob have bumped her up to my top 3 based on my current obsession for that one. |

Low ranks due to low familiarity have always been a feature in the rankdowns, especially it feels like they know other songs by heart. Just human nature things to like what they have already consistently listened to in general.

"Hell Yeah" was decently catchy and it was nice to see them switch up lead vocalists for a radio single for the first time in quite awhile, but LBT has definitely done better and it's a shame that Mr. Sun looks like it's already done since there's been no mention of a follow-up.

I've gotta say, I am blown away by how much I love "My Bar" considering how bad I thought Priscilla's debut was! I could actually see her having a career if she's got songs like this in her. I was really glad to see this one nearly make the top half, considering it could have done MUCH worse!

"My Bar" has a good melody, but I cannot get into Priscilla's vocal just yet. I think she needs some whiskey to have her vocal improved, as she sounds not bad in You, Me, and Whiskey or Wish You Were Whiskey, which are two of my favs from her.

"My Bar" at least had some catchiness to it and was a step up from her debut single, but the way Priscilla's voice goes flat on 'Wednesday' in the verse just fucking kills me. She's so amateurish. Not sure why radio is taking to a female so vanilla when we've had so many talented ones get passed over on country radio constantly. 🥴🥴🥴

I will say while I do agree that Priscilla Block's vocals aren't for everyone I don't get the notion that she can't sing, she's an amatuer, she has no talent, she shouldn't have a career, etc. Like even the artists I don't like and have at my bottom I do think have some level of talent, they just aren't my cup of tea. Saying a singer has no talent feels a bit too harsh imo, but hey what do I know?

Ugh, I am so glad to see "No Hard Feelings" FINALLY leaving. The whole arrangement is just so bland and lame. At least that's what I thought at first. But this has now come up on my shuffle a handful of times while I've been typing up reveals for this rankdown the last few days, and now I can definitively say that he bass in the chorus is one of the most annoying things I have ever heard in a country hit! This would easily be in my bottom 10 if I could redo my ranks now.
Genuinely annoyed that this boring uninspired mess beat Callista...

"No Hard Feelings" is not bad by any means, but it's pretty weak, compared with their other outputs. I liked their concert a lot last night, and this one was also not bad, but their other songs were far more enjoyable to me.

Don't worry, a little bit of familiarity bias is natural! We just don't want people to automatically rank songs low just because they don't know them. Like, "rather than listen to this, I'm just going to rank it last!"
If you listen and genuinely don't like a song, then rank it wherever feels appropriate :)

"Hell Yeah" is almost embarrassing coming from LBT, they can do SO much better. This song is pretty bad, although I have to admit the 'I'm going thru hell, yeah you've moved on and i'm still in hell, yeah' bit is catchy and gets stuck in my head. Not a song I go out of my way to listen to tho.
