2022 Country Rankdown (Revealing!)

Jameson Rodgers has been such a generic, bland artist so far that I had never even bothered to listen to "Missing One" until doing this rankdown...and it was such a flop on the charts that it was easy to avoid.

So imagine my surprise to see this at #26 on my own list!!!! This song has such an enjoyable chorus melody, with an engaging vocal performance from Jameson! The lyrics, vocals, and melody all hit just right, as well as the tempo. To my ears, this is a smash hit! I can't believe this flopped on the charts while drivel like "Cold Beer Calling My Name" went all the way to #1..... Genuinely a crime.

Man, Missing One is fantastic, leaving way too early. It's one of the saddest flops of the year to me. Radio chose to play Countr'd Look Good On You over this song is very unfortunate. Jameson's entire album is pretty solid, so shame that his radio career isn't successful.

Oh thank god. Stapleton's music usually makes me yawn, but this one was the next level, should have been banned from the radio for risking the road condition by putting the drivers into sleep.

Chris Stapleton is very talented and his vocals do elevate this a bit for me. Now for the simple truth with "Joy Of My Life". THE MELODY IS SO BORING! Seriously their is no groove, and just pure noise. I appreciate the sentiment of the song but it is so boring.

The opening line of "I know you've got to have your rest" sets the tone for this entire song. Seriously, what a boooooooooring song! How the f**k is THIS top half?!?!?!?!?! Even if you like him, that doesn't make this a good song. Chris' voice sounds like a cat trying to climb a chalkboard, the melody is incredibly bland, the arrangement has absolutely no shape to it and goes nowhere from beginning to end...

This is literally just a lullaby that doesn't even work because you'll be annoyed and grumpy when you fall asleep. Recipe for bad dreams!

This sounds like the description of someone who should have helped tank it rather than attempting to boost it nearly clear into the top 40!

This year sucks. Seriously outside of my Top 15 to maybe Top 25 I am fine never hearing any of the songs listed ever again.

I genuinely cannot believe that a vocal masterpiece like "Gave It Back Broken" could rake in the low ranks while a different ballad with literally nothing engaging about it whatsoever can get a free pass directly to the top half for basically the entire submission process....

I have liked Ashley Cooke's output so far, but there is literally nothing noteworthy about this one. The only praise it deserves is that it isn't quite as nap-worthy as "Joy of My Life", but even then it's REALLY close.

I will say when it comes to "Give It Back Broken" and "Never Til Now" and why one ranked Top 30 for me and one didn't even make my Top 70 is that I am just not a fan of Callista's vocals overall compared to Ashley Cooke's. Both ladies are talented but I just lean more towards Cooke's vocals.

FINALLY a song that is actually kinda deserving of doing as well as it did. "You Didn't" is a very mature song portraying a healthy and well-adjusted response to a s**tty situation, and Brett sells it well! I definitely enjoy this one a bit more than I have enjoyed a lot of his others in recent years.

"You Didn't" is such a beautiful song. As far as the chart run is getting annoying, glad that Brett is not flopping with this, like he did with Not Yet.

Don't worry, I'm used to people tanking the powerful-voiced women every chance they get for no reason other than belting isn't their preferred style. It's completely expected by now

54. Joanna Cotten's vocals here are quite nice. Jameson Rogers also gave some effort on his vocal instead of sounding generic.

53. Even I like Chris Stapleton, this is a weird radio single choice and is inferior of his previous two singles.

52/51. Well I think Ashley Cooke's vocals are solid, so I rank Never Til Now slightly higher. The melodies are also decent. Honestly they are better melodies I have heard from Brett Young.
