I’ll be the unpopular opinion person to say that her Lemonade Era is overrated, but overall as an artist she is rated fairly, sometimes she can admittedly be overrated but not compared to some other artists that I wont mention.

I find it interesting that this poll is just focused on Beyoncé when there should be several other current female acts that should be included in this poll too.

As someone who actually likes her, and is not part of the division, she’s insanely overrated. Being called the GOAT makes me cringe a little every time. She’s accomplished a lot and has earned her place as a superstar, but if her solo career began 10-15 years earlier there’s no way she’d even stand out against Janet, Mariah, Madonna, and Whitney in their heydays. And any time she loses an award and people act like it’s a societal injustice is truly 😬.

In a way, yes, she's very overhyped as an artist. She's very beautiful and a super talented performer, no doubt about that, but I wish other talented black female artists from her time would get the same type of treatment...like Alicia Keys and Amerie. I feel like over the years, people have unfairly discredited other talented female black artists just to make Beyoncè look good, as if they never had the same drive or worked hard just as much as Beyoncè's. I've seen people in the YouTube comments discrediting Amerie in favor of Beyoncè, and Amerie can sing well too and had made excellent albums. Same with Alicia Keys. Alicia may not be a dancer like Beyoncè, but she excels well in her musicianship.
I grew up in an era where a plethora of black female artists had their own time to shine without overshadowing the other like Janet, Whitney, Mariah, and Toni Braxton.
Now going back to Beyoncè, to be honest, I actually wasn't highly upset like the others when she lost Album of The Year to Harry Styles at the Grammys. She has the most Grammys out of all the artists out there, so she's good. It was nice to see a different artist other than Beyoncè win something for a change, even if I was a never a big fan of Harry, I was genuinely happy for him that he won. It was a actually a very touching moment to see how happy he made that grandma feel inside when he hugged her onstage.

I absolutely adore Janet and I think she has perfected her singing style, but is in no way comparable with Bey‘s technique, range and her ear for vocal stacking and layering. Mariah and Whitney are no performers, I’m sorry. And Whitney might have contributed the least to her catalogue from a production standpoint. I somehow get the Madonna comparison, but they make different music enough to not get in the way of each other. Beyoncé drive, work ethic, her passion for the visual component and overall longterm vision for her career would always lead to overwhelming success, no matter the era.

I don't think she's overrated by most, considering her singing, dancing, and songwriting abilities and continuing commercial as well as artistic, and arguably social, impact.
I do think she has an especially zealous core of fans who can be annoying. She's not infallible or entitled to every award whenever she puts out new music, and it's not racist, sexist, or otherwise an injustice if she doesn't win something. But she's not to blame for everything the "Beyhive" says or does, and she's not alone in having a sometimes overzealous fan/stan base.

Yes, but Taylor Swift is right up with her, and I like both.
An artist like Madonna has a very small fraction of her Grammys, and while her music has been well-reviewed, journalists and critics never seemed to salivate over her the way they are with Beyonce and Taylor.
Beyonce is no doubt very talented, but since the beginning, I always thought there was a ton of hype and a sense she could do no wrong (except maybe Dreamgirls/4), even unlike other popular/acclaimed artists of the time.

She deserves all the love for all her albums from 4 onwards, I personally think since that album she has gotten better and better culminating in Renaissance now being her best body of work imo.
But 2000s Bey outside of mostly the singles and the B'Day album, isn't all that outside of her being a great charismatic performer. Many other women in her lane are superior to her during the 2000s but I think she deserves her acclaim for her 2010s and onwards work. I wouldn't call her a favorite artist of mine ever at any point though.
Does she overshadow her peers, yes but that doesn't take away from or add to her artistic capability, it is a separate issue and if listeners aren't checking out her peers in the industry then it is a fault on themselves in this day and age where access to music is at the tip of our fingers.

I do feel Beyonce is overrated. She is a great performer and the best of the 21st century but overrated I do feel. Whenever B drops something, everyone acts crazy and acts like its the best thing since sliced bread and the thing is I can have great quality to no quality and the people go crazy. Even if you try to avoid it, next thing you know is it is up and down your timelines and all over social media. If you say you aren't feeling it, or that you don't like it, they jumped down your throat and wanna call you sexist and racist, which is not the case. Sometimes, I think people like some of B stuff or pretend to to fit in. Now, Beyonce has some genuine fans, don't get me wrong, but I do feel some of her "fans" or people fake liking stuff whenever she drops something new to fit in. B is one of the hardest working women, however, she is not THEE hardest working woman in the industry ever. Let's not forget artists like Aretha, Diana, Tina, Dionne, Patti, Gladys etc. were working in the music industry during a time where black people were seen as less than. To make it back then and have consistent success as a black woman, you had to work HARD! Not to mention, the segregation rules still applied to them even though they were famous. Imagine being a black female artist, having multiple top ten pop hits, selling a good amount of records and still having to sleep on the tour bus night after night and eat the scraps of restaurant food after all the success you have. If were all talking about hard working women in general, let's not forget other acts like Barbra and Cher. She is one of the best performers of all time, but people want to say she is better than Tina, Michael, and Janet. Beyonce is fantastic, but she is no where near their level of entertainment. Now we talk about her overrated vocals. Beyonce is an above average singer. She has improved vocally since her early days. However, she is not THE BEST singer or vocalists of all time. Not even in the top ten, like people try to make her to be. Now Beyonce has had some good vocal moments, but her voice or vocal moments is nowhere near the tone and quality of Toni Braxton, Mariah, Patti, Whitney, Dionne, Donna Summer, Barbra Streisand, Gladys Knight, Anita Baker, Stephanie Mills, Brandy etc.. This is not to say she can't sing, because she can but her they just do not compare like other people try to make her seem like. And I agree with 🇯🇲 lucy88 🇯🇲 post that other black female acts deserve the same level of recognition as her. And someone said that if people aren't listen to other artists and only focusing on Beyonce than that's their problem. Well, the other black female acts do not get the same level of promotion as Beyonce does. In fact, black females today have issues with their labels and do not get the same level of promotion as other black females. So how can people know other black female acts to listen to when they aren't being promoted. I think the thing is people have to stop discrediting other artists success in favor of Beyonce and stop acting like Beyonce has done everything better than everyone Again, I like Beyonce (1997-2012),I even still listen to her music, but I do feel she is overrated. However, this does not take away from her talent or from her artistry.

I feel like for any over-the-top praise she receives, there’s an about equal and very vocal opposition. So, I can’t really get into the idea that she’s wholesale overrated. She has too many vocal detractors for me to agree. The easiest way to karmafarm on Reddit is to post some variation of “DAE think Beyoncé is overrated?” take in any music thread. It’s interesting because she’s had this attachment for a while that people refuse to just acknowledge that she’s good. And yes the stans can be a lot, but the same is true for Swifties and Barbz and Little Monsters. That’s the nature of stans.
I feel like it’s more acceptable to say Bey is a bad singer and basically a glorified stripper than to say Taylor is an overrated songwriter or Adele is overrated in any capacity. The cultural zeitgeist has taken the latter to just be a known truth any opposition is seems as a contrarian. While, the cultural zeitgeist may push for you to believe Beyoncé is magnificent, opposition is very present, boosted, and taken with merit.
