Tons of 'forgotten' bands from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. Most of which likely never got the recognition they deserved...
Sixwire River Road Burnin' Daylight 4 Runner Yankee Grey Rushlow/Rushow-Harris Carolina Rain The Buffalo Club 3 Of Hearts Palomino Road Sons of the Desert Frazier River Atlanta Gibson-Miller Band Perfect Stranger Great Plains Orrall & Wright McAlyster Zaca Creek Hanna-McEuen The Remingtons South Sixty-Five

We went to Chattanooga a couple of years ago and I saw a street sign that said Nickajack road. Quick detour to get some pictures at the Nickajack Dam. Ranks right up the with the corner in Winslow AZ for me.

The Buffalo Club, Hanna-McEuen, Carolina Rain, and Yankee Grey stand out as the biggest misses for not catching on. 3 of Hearts was cute, would've been fun to see how they would develop.

Very impressive ... (and this is why we're friends lol) 2. I would add Sixwire to that list ... because of their talent, music, & live performances. Their debut album was, admittedly, maybe a couple years ahead of its time, but remains one of my favorites. They still perform today (actually have a show TONIGHT in Nashville) 3. A few other random thoughts... 4 Runner - likely had a chance to be big, but broke onto the scene when four-part harmonies were phasing out Rushlow - coulda, shoulda, woulda ... lots of things happening there but between Tim as a solo artist, Tim fronting "Rushlow", and Tim teaming up with his cousin Donny Harris ... I felt like there should've been more success Burnin' Daylight - had all the ingredients... (past success with other bands and as song writers; tight harmonies; etc) ... will never understand why they weren't more successful

How's this for wild timing... 4 Runner recently re-recorded a video for "Ragged Angel" (same vocals, though) ... and they are releasing a new album (with mostly old music, from what I can tell) on March 31st: music.apple.com/us/album/back-runnin/1663365642

Archer/Park Whiskey Falls Gibson/Miller Band Catherine Britt Crystal Shawanda The Lost Trailers Rockie Lynne Pinmonkey Hometown News Halfway To Hazard The Warren Brothers Billy Yates Billy Gilman Ray Kennedy Anthony Smith Carolina Rain Julianne Hough Jason Michael Carroll Josh Thompson
And I’m sure I could name more that hasn’t been mentioned. Most of these are from the 90’s and 2000’s

Did Rushlow/Harris release an album? I’ve always been a fan of Tim Rushlow especially during his Little Texas days. He was a lot better singer than Brady Seals. I have his solo album and Rushlow’s but didn’t know Rushlow/Harris put one out.

I guess I don't really consider them "forgotten" (they had six top 20 songs ... four of those reached the top 5). Same with The O'Kanes ... who logged six top 10s (although, admittedly, they left almost as quickly as they came).

He's one of my all-time favorites.

Oh and 90's artists who didn't take off my favorite two have to be Bobbie Cryner and Marty Brown, both put our amazing albums.
On twitter I was having a discussion with an ex member of this site about artists who only got one major label single* in the U.S.
I came up with this list from 2000-present day, anybody remember any others?
McAlyster I Know How The River Runs Allison Paige The End Of The World Rick Ferrell The Girl's Got It Goin' On Elizabeth Cook Stupid Things Daisy Dern Getting Back To You J. Not sure if they sent anything other than Brothers, My First Car, and F150. Dean also released "Gravity" but it didn't chart. I think it made the mid-50's on Mediabase? As for Meghan and Robyn, I wasn't counting those who are still with their labels. All the ones listed got one shot at the mainstream and then were dropped or moved to secondary then later dropped.3. Did Kira Isabella actually send a radio single in the US!!?? I wonder what happened to her... I miss her too. Her last album wasn't as strong as her first two but those were with Sony Canada's backing, I feel like they had more money for production polish. As for the U.S. she did! One on a label that was very much a stretch to say it was a "major" but the other two artists they had signed at least charted so I included her. Plus the other artists got two singles before the label closed.

Flynnville Train is one I don’t see on the list I can think of. They actually had 2 singles chart from their debut album. The first single Last Good Time being the highest peaking of the 2 at #47.

Great list! Few things caught my eyes: 1. Didn't Abby send Good Lord to mainstream? I think it only went to secondary. I think the mainstream release got pulled. - I recall seeing a thread for that song, so I was assuming it went for the mainstream adds! Also, Logan Mize had Better Off Gone. That was after he was dropped. While with Arista he only had the one. - Oh I see, I guess I missed the point where you were talking about "label". I like him, shame he didn't find success on radio.2. What about Dean Brody, Meghan Patrick, or Robyn Ottolini? Not sure if they sent anything other than Brothers, My First Car, and F150. Dean also released "Gravity" but it didn't chart. I think it made the mid-50's on Mediabase? - Damn, too bad. With Dean's old materials, he deserved to do a little better than just one single charting. I guess he won't be back to the US with his current outputs (it's not bad, but surely different) As for Meghan and Robyn, I wasn't counting those who are still with their labels. All the ones listed got one shot at the mainstream and then were dropped or moved to secondary then later dropped. - I can see Robyn joining this list soon, given that she is also kinda MIA in Canada.3. - Good to know! Shame that her attempt did not result in a success, and bigger shame that she's kinda retired?, like no new music since 2019. Yeah the last album was alright, but not bad enough for her to just disappear, you know...

I think Randy Montana and Josh Thompson are better examples of relative unknown artists turnt into prolific behind-the-scene songwriters. there’s plenty of artists who do this too! Jessi Alexander, Matt Jenkins, Jonathan Singleton, Jon Randall, Brett James, mark Nesler all come to mind. Katrina Elam, Rachel Proctor, and Shelly Fairchild all were still popping up in album credits a few years back. Yes all good ones I remember Katrina she was amazing a lot like Carrie Underwood and they were both from Oklahoma still enjoy her cd to this day.

How about some 90’s artists? B.B. Watson Davis Daniel Rob Crosby The Remingtons Emilio Robert Ellis Orrall Keith Harling Stephanie Bentley Dixiana Jason Sellers Sons Of The Desert Marshall Dyllon Ricky Lynn Gregg I could name more but this is all my brain could think of at the time. Thank you for mentioning Stephanie Bentley. I am pretty sure I have her album on cassette somewhere. I bought her album on CD a few years ago. I never remembered her only top 40 single “Who’s That Girl” until I bought the CD and listened to it. I only ever remembered her duet with Ty Herndon “Heart Half Empty” until that day I listened to her album.

At the time, that was my jam (well not jam, a slow sad one, whatever word fits).
