Speaking of Demi. I didn't know there's actually a demand for this. The Bubbling Under chart isn't ready. CACKLING

Hi, I'm new here, so I hope I'm posting in the right thread!
I'm very happy to see Miley's great success with Flowers. Its streaming, sales and airplay numbers are outstanding, it's shaping up to be a classic for her! It's such a genuinely great pop song too! And her album is very fresh and summer-y sounding I think!
I was just wondering about Flower's initial digital sales, which was one of the reasons I made this account actually!
Its first couple of weeks it registered the following sales numbers:
Week 1: 70,000 Week 2: 65,000 Week 3: 37,000 Week 5: 22,000 Week 6: 18,000
I posted the weeks it was #1 on Digital Song Sales. Such numbers seem very impressive to me, given the current sales climate, especially considering the weeks prior to the song's release the #1 selling song was doing 6,000 and 7,000 copies. What especially struck me as impressive was how stable its sales were, specifically the 70,000 and 65,000 weeks. I haven't seen a single score two consecutive 50,000+ sales weeks in forever. The last ones were 2021's Butter and 2020's Dynamite (both BTS) but those had special circumstances given their very dedicated fanbase. The last non-K-Pop release to achieve two 50K+ weeks was Old Town Road. Considering that was a massive meme phenomenon I looked further back and noticed the last "normal" release to do two back-to-back 50k weeks was Lady Gaga's Shallow in 2018. Songs stopped selling 50k for 2+ weeks in the second half of 2018. In the first half of the year it was a bit more common, as evidenced by several Drake, Cardi B and Ed Sheeran hits.
So, I was wondering if there was some sort of promotion on her website involving a physical release of the single (like a 7-inch vinyl etc? I know those physical sales count towards the Digital Song Sales as of late, since Hot Singles Sales was discontinued). Or was it simply overwhelming interest in the single, translating into digital sales from a slightly older demographic?
But then again, Beyonce also did 78,000 during Grammys week. So maybe the sales can be attributed to the great interest generated from the online discussion surrounding the song's lyrics and message, which would translate into an older audience purchasing the song. Basically, it shocks me to see any sales figure above 50,000 these days, sorry for the brain-storm haha!
Tl;dr β was there any special promotion or physical release which would explain such great sales? In any case, I am very impressed by her success and really happy to see her break records!!

I think it's more of your latter point, that there was just overwhelming interest in the single that appealed to a very wide demographic, including older.

^In checking Miley's webstore, I see she has an alternative cover, demo and instrumentals as well as the original version. All are currently sale priced. Judging by YouTube, the instrumental version was available on YouTube since almost two months ago, while the Demo version was available since two and a half weeks ago.

I'm impressed with Anti-Hero's longevity, and with Taylor's Tour streaming gains I can see it sitting in the Top 10 even longer. This marks it's 20th week in the Top 10, she's 4 weeks away from tying her record "Shake It Off" (24 weeks, 2014-15).

www.billboard.com/music/chart-beat/miley-cyrus-flowers-number-one-seventh-week-rema-selena-gomez-calm-down-top-10-1235290541/Miley Cyrusβ βFlowersβ Returns to No. 1 on Hot 100, Rema & Selena Gomezβs βCalm Downβ Hits Top 10By Gary Trust 03/21/2023 "Flowers" adds a seventh week atop the Hot 100, while "Calm Down" marks Rema's first top 10 and Gomez's ninth. Miley Cyrusβ βFlowersβ rebounds for a seventh week atop the Billboard Hot 100. The song debuted at No. 1 and spent its first six weeks on the chart in charge before ranking at No. 2 the last two weeks, as The Weeknd and Ariana Grandeβs βDie for Youβ and then Morgan Wallenβs βLast Nightβ took turns at the summit. βFlowersβ is from Cyrusβ new album, Endless Summer Vacation, which debuts at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart. Itβs her 14th top 10 set, including those under her former Disney Channel-Hannah Montana alter ego, a run that began in 2006. Meanwhile, Rema and Selena Gomezβs βCalm Downβ jumps from No. 19 to No. 8 on the Hot 100, becoming Remaβs first top 10 and Gomezβs ninth. The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data. All charts (dated March 25, 2023) will update on Billboard.com today (March 21). For all chart news, you can follow billboard and billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram. βFlowers,β released on Smiley Miley/Columbia Records, drew 106.7 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 1%) and 28.2 million streams (up 12%, good for top Streaming Gainer honors on the Hot 100) and sold 15,000 (up 15%) March 10-16, according to Luminate. βFlowersβ claims a fifth week at No. 1 on the Radio Songs chart, with its 106.7 million in reach the highest weekly total since The Weekndβs βBlinding Lightsβ drew 114.6 million (May 23, 2020). Further, βFlowersβ is the first song by a woman this decade with multiple weeks over 100 million in airplay audience; itβs the first since Lizzoβs βTruth Hurtsβ (nine such frames in September-November 2019). βFlowersβ also rebounds 5-2 on Streaming Songs and 3-2 on Digital Song Sales, after it led the lists for four and five weeks, respectively. Cyrus logs her 10th total week at No. 1 on the Hot 100, after her prior leader, βWrecking Ball,β reigned for three weeks in 2013. Morgan Wallenβs βLast Nightβ drops to No. 2 after a week atop the Hot 100, as it leads Streaming Songs for a second week (39.9 million, down 18%). It also drew 14.5 million in airplay audience (up 34%) and sold 12,000 (down 37%). It tops the Hot Country Songs chart, which uses the same methodology as the Hot 100, for a sixth frame. SZAβs βKill Billβ holds at No. 3 on the Hot 100 after seven weeks at its No. 2 high. It tops Billboardβs multi-metric Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot R&B Songs charts for a 13th week each. The Weeknd and Grandeβs βDie for Youβ repeats at No. 4 on the Hot 100, after a week at No. 1 two weeks earlier; Metro Boomin, The Weeknd and 21 Savageβs βCreepinβ β rises 6-5, after reaching No. 3; PinkPantheress and Ice Spiceβs βBoyβs a Liar, Pt. 2β slips 5-6, also after hitting No. 3; and Taylor Swiftβs βAnti-Heroβ jumps 12-7, following a personal-best eight weeks at No. 1 in November-January. Rema and Selena Gomezβs βCalm Downβ bounds 19-8 on the Hot 100, besting its prior No. 15 high set two weeks earlier, with 44.2 million in airplay audience (up 13%, as it wins the chartβs top Airplay Gainer award), 14.9 million streams (up 4%) and 5,000 sold (up 8%). Nigeria native Rema (real name: Divine Ikubor) released the original version of βCalm Downβ in February 2022 as a single from his debut solo LP, Rave & Roses. Its remix with Gomez arrived Aug. 26, and that versionβs official video premiered Sept. 7. He hits the Hot 100βs top 10 with his first entry on the chart. Gomez lands her ninth Hot 100 top 10. βCalm Downβ follows βLose You to Love Meβ (one week at No. 1, November 2019); βIt Ainβt Me,β with Kygo (No. 10, May 2017); Charlie Puthβs βWe Donβt Talk Anymore,β on which sheβs featured (No. 9, October 2016); βHands to Myselfβ (No. 7, February 2016); βSame Old Loveβ (No. 5, January 2016); βGood for You,β featuring A$AP Rocky (No. 5, October 2015); βThe Heart Wants What It Wantsβ (No. 6, December 2014); and βCome & Get Itβ (No. 6, May 2013). βCalm Downβ tops the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart for a 29th week β extending the longest reign since the survey began almost a year ago (in partnership with music festival and global brand Afro Nation). The collaboration also crowned the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart for two weeks in January. Going to Disney world: Notably, Gomez and Cyrus, both of whom broke through on Disney Channel shows, on Wizards of Waverly Place and Hannah Montana, respectively, share space in the Hot 100βs top 10 for the first time in nearly 10 years; on the July 20, 2013, tally, Cyrusβ βWe Canβt Stopβ ranked at No. 3 and Gomezβs βCome & Get Itβ placed at No. 9. Rounding out the Hot 100βs top 10 are two more tracks, joining βLast Night,β from Morgan Wallenβs album One Thing at a Time, which rules the Billboard 200 for a second week. βThought You Should Knowβ falls to No. 9 from its No. 7 Hot 100 high and Morgan Wallen's βYou Proofβ descends 8-10, after it hit No. 5 in October. Again, for all chart news, you can follow billboard and billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram and all charts (dated March 25), including the Hot 100 in its entirety, will refresh on Billboard.com today (March 21). Luminate, the independent data provider to the Billboard charts, completes a thorough review of all data submissions used in compiling the weekly chart rankings. Luminate reviews and authenticates data. In partnership with Billboard, data deemed suspicious or unverifiable is removed, using established criteria, before final chart calculations are made and published.

They said they'll update today -- I'm shocked they didn't push it to tomorrow One other thing about Billboard does that I never got was why they don't always give us both the top 10 and Hot 100 in one day, that never made any sense to me. But to answer your question, probably sometime tonight.

Thank you! Yeah, you're right about the physical singles. I might've mixed it up with how Billboard counted bundles of physical singles or other physical products with digital singles as digital sales. But that was recently discontinued anyway. I do remember reading something about physical singles counting as digital sales around the time Billboard discontinued Hot Singles Sales circa 2017 but I couldn't find anything online and that wouldn't make sense anyway so I'm just misremembering probably haha!! As for Miley's great digital sales, yeah, it's probably the overwhelming hype and discussion over the song's lyrical content and video that probably appealed to various age demographics, including the older digital-buying crowd.

Also, really happy to see Miley return to #1 for a seventh week! I can see this remaining atop the charts for 10-12 weeks, maybe even more.
And glad to see Rema and Selena enter the top 10 at #8. I feel like this song will definitely enter the top 3. It has summer smash potential written all over it. Very hypnotic, catchy and well-produced! In a matter of around a week or less it will also go top 10 on radio too. I can see it becoming a top 3 radio hit!

The Rema x Selena song has been out for ages... I can't see it staying put until summer. Good to see it finally become a big US hit, literally like the only market where it was lagging.

Interesting that Trump's "song" didn't make the Hot 100. Not that I'm sad about it, but I would think 33k in sales would be enough to crack the big chart. I wonder if suspicious sales numbers caused the chart delay and explain its absence? Or maybe streaming is just so high right now that 33k isn't enough to make it with no other metrics.

Well Lift Me Up actually made it to week 20, which I didn't expect back when it dropped.

I'm thinking this is most probably the case, as surely 33k in sales would've been enough to chart.

Morgan had 27 songs stay on?! So this week ties Drake then for the second most chart entries in a single week, right?

I don't know enough about the rules around filtering out mass sales. But is it possible that the reported figure of 33,000 sold is the number sold, but the number actually qualifying for inclusion on the Hot 100 is lower due to some kind of mass buying that gets filtered out for H100 purposes only?

Raye and Gaga both repeatedly getting *so close* to the top 20/40 and never quite making it. Hope they both do.
