You For Christmas
Love the Darlene Love-like approach to this. The production, the VOCALS are on point. That key change is insane. It's not an instant love or quite as timeless-feeling as some of her best originals, but lands somewhere in the middle for me. Which is not an insult, her original Christmas catalogue is nothing short of spectacular. Does feel like a bit of a grower though, and I'd love for her to collab with Ronson on a non-holiday track.

Just to add to the discussion, I think this could be one of her absolute best songs ever if the production/instrumentation were different. The lyrics are gut-wrenching and gorgeous, the vocal is perfect, the melody lovely, and it starts out so beautiful and haunting...and then the second verse comes and that canned, metronome-sounding drum kicks in and something about it veers very Disney to me. The rest of the song is so stunning I can still enjoy it, but I just wish they had kept the music itself more elegant and understated.
My Heart Will Go On
As good a vocal as she's ever given--very much on the same page as "Run To You" in that she takes a classic song to sing that requires a mountainous vocal performance by one of the GOAT singers of our time, sticks faithfully to the script, and absolutely nails it. Her choices of when to use vibrato and when to sing it straight are just...masterful. I think it's kinda dumb that TKCS account made "Never Let Go" the caption to the tweet because it didn't occur to me what song this was, and Celine just had such a moment at the Olympics. Probably a tall order to go viral twice in one week but damn this is just a beautiful, perfect performance.

It’s actually insane to me that Atlantic isn’t just getting her into the studio for a full covers album. Like something with a genuine single, budget for promo…the Linda Ronstadt throne is right there. Every time a cover of hers goes even barely viral like every tweet is asking for a covers album, wholly unaware the limited-budget-but-brilliant EP exists. She’s a big Christmas name, yes, but she’s literally cornered the covers market already.

I haven't listened to You for Christmas yet. I'm one of those people that just cannot do Christmas until after Halloween (at the soonest) so holding off on it for now.
Having said that, I'll be upfront and say I'm not the most excited person in the world for her to do another Christmas song, nor for her to be rereleasing WCCA. Maybe the song will blow me away, but (prior to listening to it) I'd rather she did...pretty much anything else tbh. A Kellyoke Vol II, a covers album, a Breakaway rerelease for the 20th anniversary, or honestly...even nothing. Take this time to start focusing on the next non-holiday album and get it out sometime in early 2026 or maybe even late 2025. She's seemingly embracing this "Christmas is the only music I can release that will do well" shtick that I just...don't think is entirely accurate tbh.

I was so happy Kelly chose to cover Celine again! I remember just asking about her covering Celine not long ago in this thread and here we are! STUNNING rendition and gave me goosebumps! Her vocals are as good as ever, if not even better! Incredible.

I started listening to the Christmas song and it was an absolute hard NOPE this early for me. Made it less than a minute. I’ll revisit at the more appropriate time.
