Not sure about the mixing on this. I wish there were some more solos on the track as the harmonies felt a bit grating to me, especially the 2nd verse

Now that we are well into November, I have been revisiting You for Christmas and I think it's a good song. I do think she oversings it a bit, and the production gets a little bit much for me.

Having said that, I stand by my original statement I made a few weeks back. While the 4-5 Christmas songs we're getting this season are nice, I'd rather not have them if it means we would be getting her next non-holiday project a little bit sooner. There's no guarantee of that, of course. But given her time is so limited right now with the talk show and everything else, I'd rather she had not spent that precious time on these Christmas projects and instead focused on giving us a new album in 2025. Granted, there's a chance we might still get a new album in 2025 but I kind of doubt it. I think it'd be a bit more likely to happen if we didn't get this Christmas stuff. Nothing we've received this season has screamed, "delay a new album for this!" so. My opinion.

At this point it matters very little. It's already been done. So hopefully she will see an increase in sales/streams this holiday season and WCCA will continue to climb to WIR levels.

I could definitely see it being 2026 (3 years from chemistry's release) but I do think we will get a new album in 2026. 2025 might have been a possibility if not for this rerelease. Hell, I'd even take a Kellyoke Vol II in 2025 but I don't think we'll be getting that either.

Since I don't follow any other pop music people, I'm curious if all fanbases nowadays are endlessly critical about their favorites, or is it just specific to Kelly? It seems like there is an abundance of criticism of every minute detail, with comments about the poster being able to better. It doesn't seem like there is much joy or appreciation in her fandom. Not meant as an attack, I am honestly wondering if that is just the state of fandom in general, or if it was something specific about the way Kelly's career panned out that led to this.

It’s not just hers. I follow Kelly, Carrie, Celine, Mariah & Taylor. All the fanbases are critical, selfish & spoiled in a way of their favorites. I do wish there was more love & appreciation to the female vocalist for what she’s been putting out instead of disappointment toward whatever the fan specifically wishes.

Not that being a pop star/public figure was ever easy but it’s worse than ever these days.
Fans are never satisfied and when getting new music they are satisfied with it for a few shiny minutes before needing constant new content.

I agree. With social media, humans are now programmed to want things now and faster. We can't just enjoy it for what it is. We always want more. Most of us anyway. When Taylor Swift can't win, who's rereleasing albums and new albums and on a huge tour, then you know people are never satisfied.

Kelly's delivered a lot. I know the break from MOL to Chemistry was long but she was also going through a divorce, had little ones to raise, do a talk show and go through a pandemic.

Do I want a follow up to Chemistry? Of course. Any fan would. I'm also trying to enjoy the other things she puts out like her Christmas songs. Something's better than nothing. She has a lot of albums to revisit as well. Songs hit different at different times of our lives so it's fun to go back.

My trans friend sent me the clip of Kelly interviewing a trans woman on the show for transgender awareness week and said Kelly gained a new fan.

I was certainly skeptical of her show years ago but she has such a voice of pure love for all people I’m so glad she did the show to spread the love.

I was close with my acoustic hope--the country approach actually suits this so well, and her vocal interpretation is divine. I need this on the next Kellyoke, which at this point feels impossible to narrow down.

Been taking a recent hiatus from engaging with & reading social media, but I just had to break it to celebrate it being Wrapped in Red and When Christmas Comes Around... season Again

I'm also thrilled about the new tracks. "You for Christmas" is an instant classic for me. I love this sound on her, and I'm ecstatic to hear her tackle this more Darlene Love style Christmas sound. "Sleigh Ride" is also a very pleasant rendition that is better than a good third of the covers from Comes Around, so its addition is welcome.

I am not a big fan of the deluxe's cover art, though. First off, the collar is giving me first American settlers vibes and the cuffs are giving me Beethoven. I don't know what that item of clothing she is wearing is, but I am not a fan. The color is pretty, but... we already have a red Christmas album cover from her. Why wouldn't they keep the purple and gold theme from the standard edition? Also this basic-ass drop shadow on the album title is reading more "I put 5 seconds into this" than the more antique Christmas style I believe they were trying to go for there.

What I do like about the cover, though, is Kelly herself. She looks fantastic. Whoever did her hair deserves more work. Also, something about her look is really reminding me of Carla Gugino, which is never a bad thing.
