It's a shame there isn't much money or sales in music but for a very few. Talented women who POUR so much into the music have recently walked away from making music. Kelly is one of them, Mariah, Rihanna, Janet when was their last studio album? The market is oversaturated with weak "art" for pennies. These women have evolved into TV Talk Show, business dealings and or on Mariah case doing year round shows/ Vegas/xamas shows etc (She hated touring due to singing those songs strained tF out her voice) but that's where the money is at

When Kelly makes new music go support it if you want incentive her to keep doing cause ain't nobody spending a whole year perfecting an album so two weeks later it's out of the charts and headlines. Even so called popular today artists like Arianna feels like her album was out for a month and GONE.

I get it but it’s like you are so close to the entire point. Kelly saw all of this coming. She isn’t stupid. It’s why she began pivoting and her career went to things like The Voice and eventually TKCS. We are so lucky she made the changes to stay relevant and to keep making that coin (while still releasing music and occasional originals). Other artists have done the same but so so many have failed to do so. I would name them but I have forgotten who they are…

I’d also argue there is so much online toxicity and scrutiny in particular on pop stars/musicians compared to other figures like hosts/actors. Also Kelly has never been happy or seeking that “popstar”fame life so the life she has now (where she’s rarely papped and is left alone) has to be so rewarding.

She gets to have a 9 to 5 job, see her kids a lot, rarely travel and get summers off in her ranch and can schedule smaller tour dates if she wants during her breaks.

Personally I don’t expect a new album for many years I do think and hope something happens with whatever she has going on with broadway.

This sounds kind of bad to say, but I’m low-key bitter she didn’t go on this weight loss journey right before Chemistry. I think we all know her more traditional “pop star” appearance right now could’ve helped that era in the hits department if we’re being blunt. And now it could be years and years before we get another album, at which point it really will just be for the fans and not chasing any kind of commercial success. Ah well.

Apologies if my phrasing was triggering for anyone (was honestly just being dramatic when I said “bitter”, that was a poor choice of words). Im not trying to body shame anyone, just stating the harsh reality that it’s easier to have a hit pop star era when you’re the weight she is now. Especially as a female unfortunately. I would have liked Chemistry to be more successful, hence why I want anything that could’ve helped (better single choices too for sure) and wish she had gotten the motivation before rather than after. It’s kind of ironic she went on that journey right after the era rather than right before is all.

It really doesn’t matter though as far as that aspect of the era, I think it was always going to be an uphill battle for some kind of real mainstream comeback. She has her Christmas and talk show niche now, which is totally fine. Obviously she seems happy with her journey with her weight as well, so that’s great.

Agree. It's almost laughable there's any debate about her being the greatest vocalist American Idol has ever produced. She's absolutely in 'easily clears any recording artist this side of the millennium' territory, into 'goes to toe with the 90s greats' county, and - as Ariana correctly suggests - one of the greatest ever to exist- land.

Yes, sorry, didn't weigh into the 'I don't want Christmas songs from Kelly' (almost the only thing that's yielded her true mainstream success in the last decade') debate. Nor the 'I want more more more' musical content from her despite the fact she's in her forties, is a single-Mother, produces hours of live music to a new peaked-standard every year and has long since passed the point where any other popstar ever [apart from Beyoncé] regularly releases new albums, charts high + tours at the same time.

As a lot of her covers, I think, have proved her original material outside of her holiday music (and I do mean chemistry specifically) is not quite worthy of her vocal talents over the last few years. If scrapping her show and abandoning Christmas music so she can release in the quality, promotion and vein of Gwen Stefani, Nelly Furtado & Fergie - making no mistake that they were her Pop peers and thus should be the yardstick by which her mainstream success is guided and judged by - is the alternative... then no thanks.

Kelly's life, personality and gift is such that she has about the perfect career, and one that fans should feel blessed to enjoy. My only caveat to that would be, she be blessed with the time, team and resources befitting of her vocal talent in return. Whenever that might be.

I simply do not understand how at the age of 42 being in her 23rd year in the business, she has not just reached but maintained new vocal peaks. Clearly she is doing something right with her health and rest while using her voice every day on a talk show and as a mother to young children. Since this seems frankly superhuman, her voice and vocal regimen should be bottled, sold, and studied by vocalists and vocal teachers as a model as to how to care of one’s voice.

I’m sorry but it really is a huge disservice if she isn’t going to prioritize music at all in coming years, aside from just Christmas stuff. She should be on some epic pop ballad rn sounding like that. I don’t really understand how her insane vocal ability has seemed to get better this long in? You look at the other vocal greats like Mariah, Whitney, Celine etc and they all flamed out so early on and at such a young age as far as their vocal peak. It’s really crazy.
