Imo, the strongest new release is Fell In Love. It would be nice to see Brent Faiyaz get his first true breakout hit and make the Billboard Hot 100 year end.

It depends what you count as A-List? But I think it must have happened to stars from previous decades with their recent albums, some of them don't get streamed much (with their new songs) even if their new album does well in physicals.

I might be wrong, but I don't think Ed has much of a fanbase outside the UK and Ireland. I know people who like his music but never really listen to it apart from what comes on from the playlists and radio. He is successful as long as he gets his music pushed via radio and streaming services, but as an artist, he isn't really super interesting.

Yeah, i won't be shocked if Taylor's gonna attempt to get a number-one out of Speak Now TV the same way she did with Red. Frankly i'd be surprised if that number-one hit ISN'T Enchanted.

Nah, Ed did open with around 450k units of Divide first week in the US, a huge chunk of which were from pure sales.  The dedicated fanbase at least used to be there, though not sure if it's been burned with No. 6 Collaborations and Equals.  Maybe nowadays he does have to rely on radio and playlists.

I disagree with the idea that going more personal and acoustic is what did Ed in. I mean his first crossover hit in the U.S. and still the biggest and most famous song from + is A-Team. Not to mention the numerous pop songs other pop songs from him that either didn't crossover Dive, Galway Girl, Happier, Tenerife Sea, or flopped like most of the singles No. 6 Collaborations, meanwhile Photograph is one of the most streamed songs on Spotify ever.

I think the failure of Subtract is just on Ed being on a slow decline ever since Divide: No. 6 Collabs was moderately successful though only #35 of the most successful albums that year, Equals was a bit more successful although you could chalk that up to a slow year for new album releases, and considering Ed's neither been a cult of personality nor a critical darling, it's just caught up now.
