Wow, is he moving to a new album already? That was *fast* considering he just had a double album

Wonder if "That's What Tequila Does" having such a long journey, just to reach the top 5 scared them to not release another single; since normally all of his stuff goes #1.
I personally thought "God Made Airplanes" was a hit waiting to happen.

Jason just released a new song “Tough Crowd” last week to streaming services. I wonder if that will be the single or something else new.

They definitely left some hits on both of the two albums, but then again you could say that about almost every Aldean project. “Heaven”, “Ain’t Enough Cowboy” and “Whiskey Me Away” all sounded like fresh hits. Curious to see what directions he heads with this new lead single.

Yeah Tough Crowd was not bad, especially the production reminded me of his older materials. His recent album has a few good songs, but again, they were never chosen as radio singles. Hope this is something decent, as I have not enjoyed any of his solo singles since You Make It Easy.

Based on this title, this could either be an introspective reflection on some aspect of the difficulties of small town life, similar to Sam Hunt's "Break Up In A Small Town", or it could be a thinly-veiled political tirade masquerading as a small-town-pride song..... And based on Jason's artistic inconsistencies, I have no idea which one is more likely!!
But as his first new single after the Maren Morris feud, I'm honestly putting my money on the latter...

Two thoughts: 1) Politics? 2) Could this be the beginning of the end of Jason Aldean's career?

Sucker punch somebody on a sidewalk Car jack an old lady at a red light Pull a gun on the owner of a liquor store Ya think it's cool, well, act a fool if ya like Cuss out a cop, spit in his face Stomp on the flag and light it up Yeah, ya think you're tough
Well, try that in a small town See how far ya make it down the road 'Round here we take care of our own You cross that line, it won't take long For you to find out, I recommend you don't Try that in a small town
Got a gun that my granddad gave me They say one day they're gonna round up Well, that shit might fly in the city, good luck
Well, try that in a small town See how far ya make it down the road 'Round here we take care of our own You cross that line, it won't take long For you to find out, I recommend you don't
Try that in a small town Full of good ol' boys, raised up right If you're looking for a fight Try that in a small town Try that in a small town
Try that in a small town (See how far ya make it down the road) 'Round here we take care of our own You cross that line, it won't take long For you to find out, I recommend you don't Try that in a small town Try that in a small town, mm-mm
Try that in a small town

So these lyrics read a borderline parody and almost a joke. Not to mention kind of angry. Please let this kill Jason Aldean's career a bit. He is such an unlikable figure in country music imo and his music sucks ass.

I’m not complaining with this given his last song was the most awful boring thing ever. I like that this at least seems to have personality based off of the lyrics compared to most Jason Aldean music.

Those lyrics... Please let this bomb. To me, political propaganda songs seem to be becoming a real problem in country music this year. It seemed about 10 years ago country music was trying to be all inclusive, but now it seems to be going the other way. I also hope this bombs.

It is unfortunate that this song will be wasting a spot on the chart for the next several months or so. There are so many artists that are making efforts and barely making it to the chart, and even scoring a minor hit would be a big deal for them, and yet, radio has to play this immature political rant over other songs, only because this is sang by Aldean.

This is basically Dog Whistling: The Song When I was listening to the first verse, I was wondering "hmm, wonder what color skinned people he's thinking about when singing this?"

“Tough Crowd” is a lot better than this and it wasn’t even that great.

I realize the frequenters of this board lean liberal, but I have no doubt this will play well where it's meant to play well.
