"Dreams and Nightmares (Intro)" was one of the best rap songs of the 2010s, and I'll also always vouch for "Lord Knows", but Meek Mill doesn't do a lot for me outside of those two songs. Ferg came out of the gate hard in 2013, but I can't highly recommend much of what he's made since, aside from "Plain Jane" of course. Rich The Kid's best song is "Plug", and his two late 2017-early 2018 hits were kind of cute I guess. I don't know much about the rest of his discography but nobody whose taste I trust stumps for it, so... Rod Wave's music is usually decent but rarely great, and he certainly doesn't win points for versatility because I can hardly tell the difference between most of his songs. I can't tell if Ice Spice has the skill to be a lasting star, but she has a good enough support network around her to be worth watching right now. I'm honestly surprised she didn't finish higher, given who submitted. Flo Rida is like Pitbull in that you'd be hard pressed to find people who'd call themselves "a Flo Rida fan" or "a Pitbull fan", but pretty much everyone likes at least one of their singles. It's hilarious that this guy appeared in the series twice considering some of the artists who haven't appeared once, though. I hate to say it, but "Selfish" was a pretty big anomaly in PnB Rock's catalog. You aren't going to find many other songs by him that give you the same feeling. As a celebrity personality, Lil Nas X is a national treasure--difficult to take that away from him. Musically, he relies heavily on his hook writing. While he does have a knack for hooks, it means that when he fails to deliver them, his songs can become supremely empty affairs very fast. "Money" is one of Cardi's worst singles. Frankly, I don't think she's made a truly great song yet (as a lead credit), but I do think she has the potential to. DJ Khaled is a living meme, and that's great, but he's probably the most pointless inclusion on this list. '''''His''''' releases only serve the purpose of promoting the actual artists on the tracks by giving them a venue to safely toss out their leftovers. I cannot think of a single time a musician delivered a career highlight on a DJ Khaled song. The closest is "I'm On One", but even then, Drake, Rick Ross, and Lil Wayne all have better.
This top 50 is fine. It could definitely be better, but considering the participant pool, it could have been worse too. I lost 12 top halves in the bottom 50, but only 2 of them were top 25s, so not much that mattered. I'll say more when the songs are revealed, but "Crooked Smile", "Glory", "All The Way Up", and "Young, Wild & Free" are the only bad songs left; the latter is especially bad and when it leaves it will clear not just my bottom 5 but my whole bottom 20. Then there are a handful of songs that I don't dislike but I certainly don't feel too positively about either--mostly the early-decade pop songs and past-their-prime rappers.

And we're back with more reveals! Kicking off the top half is the song that has the 2nd highest SD. Three Top 10s will go down, taking with them three bottom 10s.

50. Hot Boy - Bobby ShmurdaBorn in Miami and raised in Brooklyn, Ackquille Pollard hit it big in 2014 with the release of his debut single "Hot N***a" (with the radio edit titled "Hot Boy"). It topped the rap and R&B/Hip Hop charts and peaked at #6 on the Hot 100, and introduced everyone to the Shmoney dance which became popular in memes and Vine clips. The song includes production samples from "Jackpot" by Lloyd Banks. In 2014 Shmurda was arrested for conspiracy, reckless endangerment, and drug and gun possession. According to police he was the leader of a gang called GS9. He pleaded guilty in 2016 to weapons possession and conspiracy and was sentenced to seven years in prison, which was then reduced to five years with credit for time already served. Shmurda was released from prison in 2021 for good behavior, and will remain on probation until 2026. Aww I wish "Panda" had been on the list. I would have ranked that somewhere in my Top 40, I think. But it's a good extra!

I actually expected this even higher, nice! My 99 is probably the highest standard deviation. Who knows when it comes out but the sooner the better. I definitely do not expect to see my 91-93 soon.

49. X - 21 Savage & Metro Boomin feat. FutureBorn in London and raised in Atlanta, Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph started out as a gang member, mainly dealing drugs. He began rapping after his best friend was killed. In 2016 he teamed up with producer Metro Boomin (Leland Wayne) for the EP Savage Mode. The lead single, "X", peaked at #8 on the rap chart, #12 on the R&B/Hip Hop chart, and #36 on the Hot 100, and helped 21 Savage land a record deal with Epic. 21 Savage was taken into custody by ICE officials in 2019, with officials claiming that he had overstayed his visa though his attorney said that he had been trying to renew his visa since 2017. He was released after 10 days, but an immigration hearing for his case has been postponed indefinitely due to court backlogs and him being arrested for other crimes. I just want to apologize to if anyone ranked my number 93 in the top 5, I was a little harsh on it maybe should have been in my 70s. Maybe the day relistening to this song I just was not in the mood for it.
I think guys like Gates and Willapted and Wrip and BB will have it top 5. But I also think they have my 91 and 92 in their top 5 too, but I am NOT sorry for ranking those low.

48. What You Know Bout Love - Pop SmokeBorn and raised in Brooklyn, Bashar Jackson got his stage name from a combination of Poppa, which was given to him by his grandmother, and Smocco Guwop, a childhood nickname. After befriending producer Rico Beats, he signed with Victor Victor Worldwide and Republic Records. His debut studio album Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon was released in 2020. The single "What You Know Bout Love" peaked at #4 on the R&B/Hip Hop chart and #9 on the Hot 100, and samples "Differences" by Ginuwine. Unfortunately Pop Smoke wouldn't live to see the song and album's success. In February 2020 he was shot and killed during a home invasion in Los Angeles at the age of just 20. Five people, including two minors, were later arrested in connection to the murder. The minors, aged 15 and 17, were charged in juvenile court, with the 17-year-old sentenced to 4 years in juvenile detention. 50. Hot Boy - Bobby Shmurda: Ooh wow, it's interesting seeing this song having the 2nd highest SD. It explains it with the rankings all over the place. I ranked this at #86, so I wasn't a fan of this so I'm good with this showing up now.
49. X - 21 Savage & Metro Boomin feat. Future: Ooh wow this was my #97, wow... so I really did not like this one. This was very disappointing to me as I liked other Metro Boomin songs I've heard. But I guess this having Future on it, didn't really appeal much to me.
48. What You Know Bout Love - Pop Smoke: Awww nooo, sad to see this song show up as I ranked this at #18 and do love this song. This is definitely up there as amongst one of my favorite hip-hop tracks of the 2020s. I believe this samples "Differences," which certainly helped me connect to it. Great song and it's sad we lost Pop Smoke so soon (and before this song got successful, where he couldn't witness that). Pleased that there are no Bottom 15 rankings for this one.
47. No Idea - Don Toliver: This is another one of the many songs I don't remember now but I ranked it at #66 - so I wasn't huge on it but I don't think I outright disliked it. Probably just an alright song that didn't make an impression on me.
46. Wow. - Post Malone: Ughh nooo, not me losing my Top 10 with my #8 showing up here. :'( Dang I thought Post Malone was well liked here so I was expecting this to do much better. Anywho, I lovee this! This is such a catchy, fun and addicting jam. I just love the feel and vibe of this. I always jam out to this whenever this comes on and I never get tired of it. Although I do wonder which Post songs would have ranked better than this. Ooh but then this song doesn't have any Bottom 25 rankings and still ranks so low? Still so sad about that. :'(

44. Big Energy - LattoBorn in Columbus, Ohio, and raised in Georgia, Alyssa Stephens got her first break on the reality show The Rap Game. Going by the name Miss Mulatto, she won the competition in the show's first season. Jermaine Dupri then offered a contract with So So Def, but she turned it down, saying that it wasn't enough money. Her breakthrough came in 2019 with "Bitch From Da Souf", which led to her signing with RCA. After shortening her name to Latto, her career reached greater heights in 2021 with the release of "Big Energy". It topped the rap and R&B/Hip Hop charts and peaked at #3 on the Hot 100, and samples "Genius Of Love" by Tom Tom Club. The remix features Mariah Carey and DJ Khaled and contains an interpolation of "Fantasy". On account of the whole 'being imprisoned for half a decade' thing, Shmurda's career really just amounts to "Hot Boy" and "Bobby Bitch" (he hasn't made any waves musically since he was released). But it's OK because of just how iconic "Hot Boy" is. I used to think 21 Savage wasn't worth a damn before "Rockstar". That was dumb of me to think. Glad I was able to rank this song again. Sad that Pop Smoke was never able to see how much of a smash Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon turned out to be, although the Meet The Woo mixtapes are still better. Don Toliver can always be depended on for a few great songs per album. I feel like Post Malone never wanted to be a rapper. He just dabbled in the genre to exploit its popularity then left it behind once he was established enough. That doesn't really affect my enjoyment of "Wow", though. Ludacris has been awful since Battle Of The Sexes. Two shitty hits as a lead to start the decade, then a long string of the most embarrassing feature and remix decisions ever. One of the sharpest and ugliest declines in respectability for a star MC. "Good Lovin" is one of the best things he's done since 2010 and it's just barely tolerable Latto is fully in "get the bag while you can" mode at the moment, and I don't necessarily begrudge her for that because there are definitely artists who sound far worse 'selling out' than she does, and her more authentic 2019-2020 material didn't have that high of a ceiling quality-wise anyway. Safe to say Saweetie has benefitted greatly from having big-name relatives. Despite that, I don't mind her music most of the time. One could argue T.I.'s 2010s fall-off is about as bad as Ludacris's, just in different ways. T.I. only has one minor hit as a lead (compared to Luda's 2), which came solely from riding the Iggy Azalea wave. He didn't have the volume of disgraceful pop/country features Ludacris did (and in fact he still gets features on artistically relevant albums from time to time), but he did have the Mother Of All Trash Pop Features on "Blurred Lines", plus the plain bizarre "Ye VS. The People". And then there were the debacles regarding "women can't be President" and "I took my daughter to have a virginity test"...like what the fuck are you doing, man? Common is another guy on this list who, well, I just don't think of as a 2010s artist. He totally lost the plot with Universal Mind Control, the reaction to it scared him off ever experimenting again and all his albums after that basically just exist to prove he's still working.
