French: 4 Korean: 3 Portuguese: 2 Russian: 2 Arabic: 1 Chinese: 1
There's some cool looking stuff here that I've never heard of, will definitely have to give these a listen

== ROUND 3 - RESULTS ==Welcome to the third elimination ceremony. By the end of today, only 12 of you will remain in the competition.
Without further ado, the FCO for this round is…
MAYMAN!Shadow Community - "동요 Restless Song"
Work it! This song impressed every judge the most, we love the smart pick that's accessible to every judge. Great job!
Reputainbow: "Discovered this one through the 2019 RYM rankdown. I really enjoy this song’s folky / psychedelic sound a lot." (7.8) Aero: "If Mid-Air Thief were to become one of those go-to "cheat code"-type picks, I'd be all for it." (9.3) Trilogy: "This is nice, needs a lot space to grow on me, which could totally happen if I can still be around in the following years." (7.9) MoD: "Absolutely gorgeous, I discovered this in a RYM RD and have loved it ever since. The vocal work is simply incredible and it builds up in such an astonishing way." (9.2) Filthy: "Beautiful and soothing." (7.7) Samba: "Definitely appreciate and genuinely enjoy what they're getting at here. There's some awesome music in here." (7.6) Gabe: "The vocal parts are very pretty and the instrumental parts are unique and interesting. It does sound slightly disjointed to me but I enjoy both parts so it doesn’t matter that much to me. The last ~2 minutes of the song are really really good." (9.0) Leo: "This was super intrigued and left me hooked the entire song, in my opinion this deserves to win the category, feels like a risky option, has not been used at any other game and overall, the song is amazing. I am gonna save this to my library." (10) JUDGES: 68.5 | ROLEPLAY: 2.0 WEEKLY SCORE: 70.5
The second best is…
LYHOM!Imarhan feat. Gruff Rhys - "Adar Newlan"
You sent probably the most unknown song this round and it works! In the most impressive way as you please all the judges! Great job!
Reputainbow: "The guitar work on this one is very nice. Really cool that a song in Arabic was sent this round." (7.5) Aero: "This strikes me as someone wanting to take a risk with a more unproven selection. If so, thank you for the discovery. The way the vocals and instrumentation fit together hits a certain sweet spot; this'll fit right in on my playlists." (8.1) Trilogy: "Great guitar work, can't let it go unstated. Every other musical bit is against what's to me the bigger overall motif of the song though, a whole lot sort of happens for me." (7.1) MoD: "Great pick, the guitar work is really good and as a whole I'm a big fan of arabic harmonies." (8.7) Filthy: "It’s not very often I listen to music from Africa, let alone high-quality music like this song here. This was a really pleasant listening experience and the song really connected with me. The vocals are great, but the instrumentals are without a doubt the best part about this song. It’s going straight into my playlists, what a gem man." (9.5) Samba: "Oh this is great. I didn't know what to expect from it but it's definitely exceeded the expectations I have. CLEAN instrumentations are the highlight and it's like they harmonize over this traditional beat meets funky guitars." (8.2) Gabe: "I love this. This song feels like a very immersive experience if that makes sense? Maybe it’s also because I watched the little visualizer on Spotify while listening but I absolutely love how transformative the soundscape is. The vocals are great, the production is great, everything is great. I think my only comment would be that the last minute of the song, although still good, is in my opinion the weakest part of the song." (9.7) Leo: "Overall this felt a little monotonous, but I really dig the instruments and the music thorough the song. My feet were shaking through the song." (8.6) JUDGES: 67.4 | ROLEPLAY: 2.0 WEEKLY SCORE: 69.4
The third best is…
DREMOLUS!YUKIKA - "SOUL LADY"
You survived elimination last round by a hair, but this time you bounce to the TOP. Great job!
Reputainbow: "You can’t go wrong with YUKIKA and city pop. An absolutely fun bop." (8.7) Aero: "I was certain Yukika would show up here; it was just a question of which song. Any of a number of Yukika songs would've fit well here, I'd say. This one seems to be the definitive selection, though, and I wouldn't dispute that." (8.4) Trilogy: "It's unfair how I've treated YUKIKA in the past, especially now since it comes across as having been a while since she's made music. This is when sickly cute and consciously great production and performances ends up in a gleeful place to be and sets itself up well." (8.5) MoD: "Bop, great production and I love the funkiness." (8.5) Filthy: (7.0) Samba: "Love this song. This is modern meets retro guide music. Love how the songwriting provides some great moments in the melody here that she sings well at. And of course, super fun music to accompany this sweetly catchy tune." (8.7) Gabe: "It’s fine. Nothing special or unique. The production carries because I find her vocals rather muted and weak. The sound that comes in the background of the chorus reminds me of love language by ariana." (6.8) Leo: "This is kinda a cheat imo but is a great song. It gives me such a late-night driving vibe." (9.6) JUDGES: 66.2 | ROLEPLAY: 2.0
WEEKLY SCORE: 68.2
Next…
BBAna Frango Elétrico - "Mulher Homen Bicho"
Reputainbow: "Very fun and lush song I discovered from 2020 RYM. It grew on me a lot after I initially heard it for the first time." (8.3) Aero: "This already captivated me first time I heard it with its playful genre-blending style, and it grew on me more and more with repeated listens. This is also the first song I thought of (and likely my first choice to submit), so I'm glad someone submitted this." (9.3) Trilogy: "I know I've heard this artist and song title combo before, maybe an old rankdown or a Madness installment? Anyhow, I feel adequately similar about it like the last time I listened to it was yesterday." (7.5) MoD: "I can't recall where I discovered this track but it's great. I love the kinda throwback disco elements which suit her voice so well." (8.7) Filthy: "It slaps." (8.3) Samba: "Yep this is a banger. What a cool production that goes on with such an awesome feeling." (8.5) Gabe: "The instrumental part around 3:10 reminded me of Mario Kart music. I appreciate that this song has a distinctive melody, although at a runtime of nearly 5 minutes I wish it was a bit more exciting to keep me invested the whole time. I feel like the song doesn’t really build to much? Overall the instrumental is nice, if a bit noisy at some parts. I really didn’t like the singer’s voice at first and found that she doesn’t really have a strong range (or if she does she’s not showcasing it here) but by the end of the song it grew on me." (7.0) Leo: ""IIRC this was subbed for a Madness tournament a couple years ago, is a solid track, I really vibe with this and the beat is lovely, I also enjoy her voice a lot." (9.1) JUDGES: 66.7 | ROLEPLAY: 0.8
WEEKLY SCORE: 67.5
Next…
WILLMilton Nascimento - "Tudo O Que Você Podia Ser"
Reputainbow: "This is definitely quite good with really nice instrumentation. But I don’t know, I just didn’t quite love this one as much as I wanted to." (7.4) Aero: "The lyrics hit in a certain way that's just... damn. Especially with how the instrumental complements them." (8.5) Trilogy: "Blissful. It's a lounge-y idea of a song with what I interpret in it but there's a strong harness in what the separate instruments contain that I'd get up and do something with that burst of energy regardless." (8.7) MoD: "If you haven't noticed, I really like MPB, so this being a staple song on one of the most important albums of the genre of course means I'll enjoy it. Specially like the guitars on here." (8.7) Filthy: "Probably one of my favorite non-english songs of all time. The album cover is sick too." (9.7) Samba: "Great song. Cool vibe. Really cool coordination and it makes a very fun listen. I can hear this song in a background of some internet cafe and enjoy it big time." (8.0) Gabe: "This is very interesting… the instrumental in the right ear and vocals in the left. I’m not convinced it adds anything to the song. But I don’t think it really takes away either. It’s fun, it’s energetic, it’s cute. I dislike the outro." (6.3) Leo: "This was sweet but honestly it didn’t grab my attention as other songs in this set." (7.3) JUDGES: 64.6 | ROLEPLAY: 2.0
WEEKLY SCORE: 66.6
Next…
WHEATJorge Ben - "Oba, Lá Vem Ela"
Reputainbow: "Nice strings and drums. The singer’s voice is a little harder for me to personally get into, but it was still an overall good listen." (7.2) Aero: "Not as many Globetrotting songs as I'd have guessed, but we did get this fun and breezy tune from a previous gates rd." (7.5) Trilogy: "Soulful MPB routinely works when getting to me, definitely has gotten me to sieve through Brazilian music as a whole." (7.9) MoD: "Jorge Ben is the goat. Amazing voice, beautiful arrangements, and really catchy melodies." (9.0) Filthy: "💃💃Groovy🕺🕺" (8.4) Samba: "Cool tune. It's pretty catchy to follow to with that fun instrumentation." (7.3) Gabe: "This song sounds somewhat cinematic to me, I think it’d fit perfectly on some soundtrack. It was very nice if not my personal favorite. It definitely got better as the song went on. I appreciate the power and emotions behind the vocals." (7.7) Leo: "This is for me a risky pick and I appreciate the effort. I did not research for the lyrics, but this song felt very sweet and lovely." (9.0) JUDGES: 64.0 | ROLEPLAY: 1.6
WEEKLY SCORE: 65.6
Next…
RECORDYEARFaye Wong - "分裂"
Reputainbow: "Here’s one of my favorite discoveries from Gates’ recent Globetrotting rankdown. It has such a pretty and calming sound to it. You can totally hear the Cocteau Twins here." (8.2) Aero: "Lowkey I expected more songs from Globetrotting lol. though seeing as this placed top 4, and four of us ranked it top 10, this one is the best bet. the dreamy yet pensive vibe of this is really cool." (8.5) Trilogy: "Yo I'm in the air rn what's with this." (8.3) MoD: "A great discovery from gates' latest rankdown, her voice is absolutely beautiful and the atmosphere she creates is so sweet and dreamy, love this song." (9.0) Filthy: (7.3) Samba: "I love how this song BUILDS atmosphere and draw attention to its every layer. Though for a song in this type I'd prefer a (more) melancholic performance. Maybe. I don't know the lyrics enough." (7.5) Gabe: "The background layered vocals that come in about 1/3 of the way through the song are very pretty. I feel like I don’t really have much to say about this song; it was fine and nice and cute. Nothing too exciting but it didn’t bore me either. Just a very average song to me so it’s getting an average score" (6.0) Leo: "I kinda hate what you did here, you didn’t waste too much time searching for something that did good on a rankdown, did you? Anyways, this did land in the middle of a list, is an overall good song but it didn’t have a lasting impression." (8.8) JUDGES: 63.6 | ROLEPLAY: 2.0
WEEKLY SCORE: 65.6
Next…
WALTMolchat Doma - "Судно (Борис Рижий)"
Reputainbow: "This one was also pretty cool. A nice synthpop track." (7.3) Aero: "A natural choice, really, given who all is on the judges' panel. A solid one at that, too." (8.4) Trilogy: "Stark, frostbitten, atmospheric emptinesses. Oh yeah, this is good." (9.1) MoD: "One of my favorite songs of all time (which actually won one of the last rankdowns I hosted). I love everything about it, the vocals, the atmosphere, its catchiness and god that bassline." (10) Filthy: "I once had a big assignment in school where i had to write about the macroeconomic consequences the fall of the Soviet Union had. I listened to this album on repeat. Front to back 10+ times in a row or something. This is obviously the best song off it. Banger." (8.7) Samba: "I can't deny how hard this goes. Amazing instruments. The bassline is insanely catchy. This one is a banger." (8.5) Gabe: "The cover art is very cool. I hate hate HATE this. The instrumental in the first half of the song is very basic and can’t carry the song. It gets more interesting in the back half but I think the instrumental clashes and competes with the vocals rather than complements them. But it would be difficult to not clash with the vocals because they’re so jarring. They sound like he sung into one end of a 50 foot long pipe and the output was recorded at the other end. Very offputting for me and all around a terrible pick." (2.5) Leo: "I did a research for this song and it was released in 2018?? It does have a 90s vibe that I enjoyed. Overall, this is a solid song and is the better Russian song of the batch." (8.8) JUDGES: 63.3 | ROLEPLAY: 2.0
WEEKLY SCORE: 65.3
Next…
DISTRICTKino - "Мама, мы все тяжело больны"
Reputainbow: "Couldn’t get into this one as much as the others. Russian post-punk is definitely a riskier pick though, so I’ll give credit to that." (6.9) Aero: "A good choice that's not too obvious. just some solid '80s post-punk. I dig it." (8.0) Trilogy: "Post-punk is good, inexplicably in its element further when it's sung by Eastern Europeans for reasons I'm not aware of." (7.6) MoD: "Every song I've heard from Kino has been great, amazing instrumentals and his voice is so unique." (8.7) Filthy: (7.5) Samba: "This is quite fun. Pretty standard for a post-punk track imo but I do enjoy it and see myself enjoying it on shuffle play. Just not really standing out but okay." (6.7) Gabe: "I’m so mixed on this. The instrumental is really compelling and pulls you in, only for my ears to be praying for silence after you hear this man’s vocals. He’s like the opposite of a Siren, your boat will steer clear of this man. Thank god there’s lots of instrumental parts that are really interesting." (6.4) Leo: "This really felt like an 80s song, is not a bad thing, but not completely something I would go on my way to listening to. It does have sorta an Eurovision vibe from the decade, though. Also had some sorta Spanish Rock vibes from the era as well. Still not my cup of tea at all." (8.3) JUDGES: 60.1 | ROLEPLAY: 2.0
WEEKLY SCORE: 62.1
Next…
WOODSBarbara Pravi - "Voilà"
Reputainbow: "I remember seeing a lot of love for this one during the Eurovision 2021 season, but their latest two entries were honestly better tbh. I mean, it still sounds nice at least." (7.2) Aero: "I guess it's no surprise we got a Eurovision song, though I kinda get the sense whoever chose this didn't have a lot of ideas." (6.5) Trilogy: "I can see it does what's pertinent to stand out as a sub-3 minute song with its vocals taking the stand, just feels so bare however." (6.6) MoD: "Kinda uninspired and it gets annoying." (5.7) Filthy: "I fully expected to see at least one Eurovision song in this round, and here it was. Voilá is passionate and atmospheric which makes the song come to life. It’s good, but nothing remarkable. I wonder where it ended in Eurovision." (7.0) Samba: "Cool chamber pop song. It's lovely." (7.0) Gabe: "This was amazing. The instrumental BUILDS and takes you on a whole journey. She’s a strong vocalist, the melody is instant. I love the production choices and how it pays attention to detail—like when she says silence and it goes quiet for a second. You absolutely knocked it out of the park with this one." (10) Leo: "Somebody got a leak that it was me who was judging and subbed this, because this is probably one of the best Eurovision French entries of all time. Her live performance is simply yet effective. I get chills every time I see her performance." (9.5) JUDGES: 59.5 | ROLEPLAY: 2.0
WEEKLY SCORE: 61.5
The last name to escape the bottom two is…
Next…JOSHIndila - "Dernière Danse"
Reputainbow: "I recognize the cover art to this song for some reason. Anyways, this was pretty cool. I liked how the electropop production kicked in later." (7.4) Aero: "I Can't Believe It's Not Eurovision™" (6.1) Trilogy: "Arrangement to me sounds like what gets popular in media where a lot of "animation memes" are made of, something I got too old and contrived to ever understand. Sorry but I'm not very amused by this one." (5.2) MoD: "Isn't this from a meme? Anyways it's not bad by any means but it doesn't do much for me." (6.7) Filthy: "Oh it’s that song. It starts off super strong, but i don’t like when it gets all electropoppy and then almost gospel-like later on." (6.5) Samba: "Been a while since I listened to this. I LOVED this song in middle school. I don't love it as much as I did but it remains solid with some great vocals and I actually also like how it progresses." (7.8) Gabe: "The instrumental is giving Ring by Seltuna. The vocal delivery really draws you in. Production is amazing, it builds and has a real sense of urgency. I absolutely love this and don’t really have anything else to say other than great job." (10) Leo: "This was Indila’s debut and what a debut, the song is intriguing and captivating, doesn’t feel like a risky pick for this category but I like the mystery and dramatism the song has." (9.7) JUDGES: 59.4 | ROLEPLAY: 2.0

The last person to advance to the next round is... HAMED!Daft Punk - "Musique"
Reputainbow: "Hearing “musique” over and over again for 7 minutes is a bit longer than it needs to be. But regardless, I do think this sounds really good." (7.3) Aero: "We stan outside-the-box thinking, and an excellent deep cut." (9.9) Trilogy: "Not that I would've gravitated to the idea but sending Daft Punk here is what I would feel to say is reminiscent of sending any of Lorde's Maori covers of her own music. Good on contestant #1-12 that I've liked this for as long as I did Da Funk (my favorite song from the robots and from the same single)." (9.0) MoD: "I'm a big Daft Punk fan but I don't think this is anywhere near their best, it's not interesting enough to be so repetitive." (6.2) Filthy: "It kind of feels like a cheat code sending Daft Punk. While I don’t think this is one of their better songs, it’s still incredibly solid." (8.0) Samba: "I mean, this is cool and all but it doesn't give me a ~reason~ to be excited for it. Like, it's lacking for me. There were many other songs in the same veins I'd prefer to bump to." (6.0) Gabe: "When I first saw the length of this song and then pulled up the lyrics… I thought it would be an absolute slog to get through. I was right. I know daft punk may be acclaimed by the critics but they are NOT acclaimed by the girls who like fun pop songs (me). The production is objectively good but it’s not what I like in a song at all. The instrumental was not varied enough to hold my interest for the entire song. No vocals is generally a no for me. I anticipate the other judges will score this well but I physically cannot." (3.5) Leo: "I am not sure if repeating “Musique” for 6 minutes can count for a foreign language song at all, but Daft Punk usually delivers solid and funky beats. This also helps to make up and doesn’t feel like an eternity." (7.8) JUDGES: 57.7 | ROLEPLAY: 2.0

From winning to bottom 2 all in three weeks... Gurl...
Which means...
RNB, I'm sorry but you've been eliminated.
NewJeans - "Attention"
Reputainbow: "Perhaps someone was personally catering to me sending this since this was one of my March Madness songs this year lol. This is still my favorite NewJeans song. I just really love the 90s throwback vibe. That chorus is just bliss." (8.6) Aero: "When the theme came up, one of my first thoughts was that Ditto might have too much English to count. though actually this also has a lot of English lol. I much prefer the lyrics and production of Ditto, though this is also a fun little bop." (7.2) Trilogy: "Well, I've reached a new stage in my asocialization that limits the amount of music I hear publicly, so now k-pop can finally get a fair opinion out of me." (7.3) MoD: "Pretty nice, big fan of the instrumental." (7.5) Filthy: "It’s a cool song with some good production, but they sing in English… sometimes. It’s not going to drag my score down, but i still feel like i need to mention it. But GOOD song." (7.4) Samba: "Sorry. This is easily my least favorite of their singles - forgetting the coke commercial song. It's just void of any personality they have and it severely lacks the fun aspect their production usually have. Definition of basic." (5.0) Gabe: "In my personal opinion I feel like you’re kinda skirting the category by sending a song that’s more than half in English so I’m going to deduct points for that. The song is nice, I really enjoy the chorus but I just think there’s too much going on in the song. Too many different noises." (6.0) Leo: "This is a cute bop (I prefer Ditto) but I’m going to give you half score since half of its lyrics are in English." (4.8) JUDGES: 53.8 | ROLEPLAY: 1.6
WEEKLY SCORE: 55.4
OVERALL SCORE: 168.1
I'm glad you try out for this season. And although you only have a short time here, I hope you had fun while playing. Thank you!
