I am rooting for Fast Car to finally hit the top. Tracy Chapman could have a #1 hit as a writer.

To me, both UK and US having 6 songs competing for the top spot is very exciting and rare this year

If you asked me like a week ago whether Zach Bryan would've had a shot at the #1 this week, I'd have told you "no chance". Yet here he is competing for that very spot, and TBH I think its more likely than not even given his Sunday numbers. It's truly been wild watching the charts these past couple of months!

I think Swift should wake up and release Cruel Summer remix or video.
Luke Combs should do the same, remix with Tracy will definitely give them the #1

As a chart watcher I love and as a Swiftie I hate, haha. I love high turnover at the top, too, so it's going to be sad if this was the only real shot for LC, PTTR, IRE and CS when we had so many weeks waiting for Morgan's reign to end.

One of the benefits of the charts being weak: a lot of songs that wouldn't otherwise chart at all/have the chance of reaching the top spot, suddenly have a shot of doing so with enough support.

In terms of songs that peaked at #2, which is the record for the most different songs that were ahead of it at #1?

Kacey Musgraves previously peaked at 60 in 2013 with Follow Your Arrow (what a song)
A number one debut 10 years later as her first top 40 hit is amazing

Anything but Last Night (good song but it had its time) or Rich Men would be cool. Doja will probably get it in the next few weeks though. Also 6 songs over 200 points in this formula and like 13 songs over 150 isn’t really weak

Either Kacey Musgraves or Tracy Chapman getting their first #1 would be truly great.

In terms of songs that peaked at #2, which is the record for the most different songs that were ahead of it at #1? I don't think we've ever had a song that was blocked by 3 different #1s, so "Fast Car" with 3 songs would probably break the record - someone correct me if I'm wrong. I know there are A LOT of #2s that were blocked by 2 #1s (Apologize, Waiting for a Girl Like You, You’re Still the One, Whoomp! (There It Is), You Were Meant for Me, How Do I Live, Breathe...).

Wing's "Live And Let Die" was blocked by 3 different #1's while it was #2, during the weeks of August 11, 1973 - August 25, 1973, by "The Mourning After", "Touch Me In The Morning", and "Brother Louie," so it has happened before, it's just very very rare.
I don't know if this is the only #2-peaking song to be blocked by 3 different #1's nor do I know if a song got blocked by 4+ different #1's, but the latter is extremely unlikely given how rare it is already for 3 different #1's to block a #2-peaking song.

It’ll be a damn shame if “Fast Car” can’t manage at least 1 week at #1. Like it or not, it’s been one of THEE songs of 2023. I hear it everywhere.
It sucks that it stayed just behind “Last Night” for so long due to Morgan’s advantage in streaming. Then when LN finally started falling off this month it looked like Luke was finally poised to have a real shot at #1 only for that lameass Oliver Anthony to come out of nowhere with his fluke “hit”.
I’d love for Taylor and Zach to top the chart too but I really want Luke Combs to snag a week first, because the window for “Fast Car” to hit #1 is gonna close soon..
Does anyone have the Hot 100 chart run for “Fast Car”?

Interesting that the Ariana Grande anniversary release is making no noise. The industry seems to be trying to replicate Taylor's re-release strategy without much luck at all. sorry, but that's like comparing apples and oranges. More like apples to Apple products. Also love that Taylor has for created the idea re-releasing as if that hasn't happened for almost every big artist the last 70 years. Hell, even movies and video games do this.

In the UK Moves Like Jagger was blocked by SIX different #1s! I think that would be hard to beat and so unfortunate.

Kacey Musgraves apparently liked an Anti Taylor Tweet that's pro Scooter, and retweeted an Anti Taylor Kid Rock Tweet.

JoJo re-recorded her first two albums before Taylor so everyone is copying from her. Trisha Yearwood re-recorded 10 of her hits for a 2014 collection that mixed 10 (re-recorded) hits with 6 new songs. She had switched labels, so presumably that was a way to get people to buy from her new label. musiclife those are not both tweets. You can see they have different formats and usernames. Fanstar1 that Kid Rock tweet is from 2019. I don't know if Musgraves 'liked' it, but you'd have to go back 4 years to figure it out.
