The numbers are in, and "For All The Dogs" suffered a -39.21% second day drop, better than "Certified Lover Boy" but slightly worse than "Her Loss" last year. For direct comparison: Scorpion: 60,612,450 -24.68%CLB: 45,495,488 -43.44%Her Loss: 31,848,615 -37.72%FATD: 35,397,545 -39.21%this is genuinely tragic given there was 6 hours missing like it genuinely should have been -25 or -30%... GP is not tuning into Drake anymore I think that's a bit over-dramatic, it's still a really big album bomb (one of, if not the biggest of the year). I was expecting he'd have about 5 top 10 debuts, it's actually doing a bit better than I was expecting so far. The longevity may not be good though (for Drake who used to have some album tracks spending 20 weeks on the Hot 100), but it's too early to know on that front.

I am a huge fan of Drake, I have not even listened to the album yet. I was going to at midnight on Thursday but since he delayed it, and I had a busy weekend, I just did not have a chance. I plan on it today. Anyway, the debut for Drake is amazing. He literally is most likely going to be 90% of the Top 10 Hot 100. A lot of the "GP" (what a weird abbreviation lol) as some say do not even know about this release. I have friends who like Drake and they didn't even know he was releasing an album. The "GP" relies on the promotion aspect of it all which Drake did not do. There are not even physical copies in retailers. One of my friends likes to go to Target every couple weeks and pick up CDs from the new releases (90s kids unite we love CDS still!!!) and when she went on Saturday, had Drake had a physical copy she would have picked it up! Anyway, my point is - The "GP" may very well be interested in Drake but there were minimal ways for them to even know about this release as it was not physically available anywhere and there was no talk show/TV/promo/press besides the blogs and if you were a fan and were specifically following him. The argument to say "GP" do not check for Drake is not something we can verify for this release due to the overwhelming factors at hand that played against "GP" ever knowing of the release. And at the end of the day, his 9 top 10s arent gonna lose him any sleep. He will cash his checks and release another album in 2024. He made not have done more "traditional" media promo such as talk show/tv/radio, etc., but it has been largely promoted on social media and the internet for months now. Slime You Out, the lead single (or focus track, whatever you want to call it) was released a couple weeks ago, and the vast majority of his fanbase and rap fans in general don't consume his music physically, so the argument that his fans or the gp wouldn't have known about it by now or wouldn't have the means to consume it is weak. I'm not at all saying the album isn't a success or won't have any longevity (which will remain to be seen), and a 400-450k debut in 2023 is still top of the line, but it is significantly down from his peak and his popularity is clearly declining.

GP is not tuning into Drake anymore how silly is this comment that because FATD had a slightly worse dip 2nd day then it means the GP isnt tuning in, when his 2nd day numbers are still bigger than most artists' first day numbers? lol its almost like the people who uses this dumb term 'gp' the most doesnt even know what it means. surely you dont believe the 10-15 million unique listeners tuning in from spotify alone are all just chronically online loser twitter stans, do you? lol. the only way where 'gp dont tune into' are true are for flopped artists slightly propped up by a tiny fanbase such as gaga, but even then it's not like all of her listeners are all completely isolated from the rest of society,so this term is basically inapplicable even in any case, other than demonstrating how weird/detached the user of the word himself is lol.

Another day, another spreadsheet-powered number-crunching extravaganza.
Drake's "For All the Dogs" collected 22,488,816 Spotify streams on Sunday, dropping another -36.46% from Saturday - which is even worse than "Certified Lover Boy" (-35.47%) and also surprisingly "Honestly, Nevermind" (-35.64%).
For direction comparison:
Scorpion: 41,232,284 -31.97% CLB: 29,357,790 -35.47% H,NVM: 10,697,374 -35.64% Her Loss: 22,106,052 -30.59% FATD: 22,488,816 -36.46%
Still tracking very close to "Her Loss" plus change, which should put it somewhere around 185,000,000 - 215,000,000 streams for the first week. It really all depends on the Monday/Tuesday performance and if it can recover some ground on those days, or at least slow down the bleeding.

The whole βgeneral publicβ concept is funny, in particular when it comes to music nowadays because what even does it mean? Who is it referring to? it showcases how silly and numbskulled the people who subscribe to this concept are, more than anything else. cus how removed you'd have to be from a normal social/societal setting to somehow not be consider a member of the general public? are they locked up prisons or psych wards? are they in an alternate space/realm where they cant interact with us earthlings but can still stream our music? is some guy who went to work 9-5 and then hits the gym listening to a metal band with 50k daily spotify stream, is that metal band not being listened to by the 'gp' just because their numbers are low? is that man de-listed from the' general public' because the band he listens to is not popular? this concept really gets funnier and funnier the more you think about it. but one thing for sure is that it's an indictment on the people who uses that word unironically, how detached you'd have to be to think in that way... Strange over-analysis of an intuitively obvious term. If you aren't the fan of an artist (superfan, casual, or otherwise), you are the "general public" for them. You'll only end up knowing their releases/hits/albums through promotion, word of mouth etc. The term applies to anything to differentiate specialized vs casual knowledge about something: in-group vs. out-group. The out-group only finds out about something through universal appeal usually. It's not that deep. Drake had the GP in a chokehold during Views and Scorpion, it's pretty obvious what the difference is now... This album is dropping harder than anything else he's released, even worse than universally-panned 'Honestly, Nevermind'. I don't even mean to imply anything deeper here either. His huge fanbase will carry him for a long time, and he can easily get back longevity and gp interest through higher quality releases with a longer break.
