hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=338573&title=A-DOLLY-DRAKE-TAY-BATTLE-FOR-#1Saturday, November 18, 2023 A DOLLY/DRAKE/TAY BATTLE FOR #1There’s going to be a lot on next week’s chart to be thankful for; at least three titles are in the running for #1, each finishing over 100k. Drake’s For All the Dogs: Scary Hours Edition is projected to do 110-130k. In its fourth week of release, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) looks like it will come in slightly lower, 110-120k, creating a possible Thanksgiving skirmish for #1. Dolly Parton’s Rockstar could be a spoiler, however—the beloved entertainer's highly publicized, star-studded rock album is headed for a solid 95-105k opening, with a potential boost from those bastions of hard-rocking culture Home Shopping Network and Cracker Barrel. K-pop group ENHYPEN is projecting 80-90k for a Top 5 debut. Drake, For All the Dogs: Scary Hours Edition (OVO/Republic): 110-130k Dolly Parton (Butterfly/Big Machine/BMLG): 95-105k ENHYPEN (BELIFT LAB/Geffen): 80-90k

a bit surprised about dolly, especially in the post-bundles era.
apparently she hasn't hit the top 5 before.

a bit surprised about dolly, especially in the post-bundles era. apparently she hasn't hit the top 5 before. she had two albums reach #6 . in 1987 a collab album with Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris reached #6 as did a solo album in 2014.

I hope Dolly Parton can clear 100,000 SPS. It should be her highest charting album on the top 200 chart.

I hope Dolly does it! *_* Hopefully she trends upwards and Drake/Taylor downwards. Amazing to see her looking at her highest charting album and possible highest sales week(?).

#6 is her highest-peaking album??? This just proves numbers and chart peaks don't mean everything and we shouldn't rely on them. I mean, Jolene peaked at #60... Dolly will always be a legend, and I hope she reaches #1 just because she can it's a nice achievement to have, nothing else.

To get a #1 album, what, 60 years into her career would be such a way to top off her legacy!

It would certainly one of the longest waits for a #1 album, if not the longest. Pretty sure this would eclipse Tony Bennett’s wait.

It would certainly one of the longest waits for a #1 album, if not the longest. Pretty sure this would eclipse Tony Bennett’s wait. It'll be close. Tony first hit the precursor to the Billboard 200 some time in 1957, and topped the Billboard 200 for the first time on the chart for the week of October 8, 2011 with "Duets II". Dolly first hit the Billboard 200 with "My Blue Ridge Mountain Boy" on the chart dated November 22, 1969, debuting and peaking at number 194. So Dolly will have waited 54 years and a week, and Tony probably waited 54 years and some number of months. Of course, if you use a different starting point, either Tony or Dolly might win out. I'm rooting for Dolly to make it, since it would be an incredible achievement. And considering Big Machine is distributing it, I bet they'll be extra motivated to make it happen if the chief competition is Taylor....

Also, if Dolly does it, her "Rockstar" will knock Stray Kids' "ROCK-STAR" out of the top slot!

hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=338606&title=PARTON-US-ITS-THE-TOP-20Tuesday, November 21, 2023 PARTON US, IT'S THE TOP 20With an incredible number of moving parts, including availability at Cracker Barrel, Home Shopping Network and Dollar General Stores, Dolly Parton's Rockstar (Butterfly/Big Machine/BMLG) could be on its way to give the music legend her very first #1 album overall. We must caution, however, that with so many moving parts, the Thanksgiving holiday and the always formidable Taylor Swift as variables, there will be a greater than usual margin of error in today's projections.

Remember, it wasn’t until Soundscan that people realized how popular Country music truly was in the U.S. It was definitely popular on the charts in the ‘70s and ‘80s, but Billboard’s old way of collecting data didn’t paint a complete picture.

Taylor Swift and her team would not DARE do anything to interfere with Dolly's moment to shine- right? I gather Dolly's album will appear on both the rock and country charts? I haven't listed yet- do any of the tracks double as rock and country, or would it chart on country just because it's Dolly?

this decade, no woman born before 1980 had a 100k sales week. and she was born in the 40s.

this decade, no woman born before 1980 had a 100k sales week. and she was born in the 40s. The last female artist born before 1980 to top 100,000 in sales was Celine Dion in November 2019 with "Courage," which had 109,000 units in pure sales (113,000 album-equivalent units). Before that, fellow Canadian Shania Twain took "Now" to the top in October 2017, with sales of 134,000 units (137,000 album-equivalent units). And the last born in the 40's to top the chart with over 100,000? Barbra Streisand, who in September 2016, at age 74, took "Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway" to the top with 148,000 in pure sales (149,000 in album-equivalent sales). It made Streisand, at that time, the oldest woman to top the charts - a title Dolly could take this coming week. And of course Streisand has topped the chart many times - at least once in six consecutive decades, 11 times in total - whereas this would be Dolly's first time ruling the Billboard 200.
