It's still a miracle this became a hit in 2023. RAYE being able to break free from her shitty label and get a worldwide SMASH as soon as she went independent is so inspiring. The production is just so haunting, as are the lyrics. Plus... TWO OUTROS?? Insane.

Wait... WTF is Escapism?! How is it a song that I never heard of anyone talking about really made it to top 3?! I mean, it's not even a song. Just a bunch of completely monotones sounds.

I love that this became a hit, especially since it's fully fledged out with verses, pre-chorus, chorus, bridge/transition, outro. I feel like that's becoming more and more rare these days.

I don't remember how or when my first proper listen of the song went down, but I remember that with it came my second, third and about twenty more plays that week. This song is the tree that keeps on giving. Every component is important but that pre-chorus is one of my favorite musical moments of the 2020s so far.

Predicting that "Cruel Summer" will win here. I feel like I underranked this a bit, I really like the song but it's just starting to wear on me a tiny bit from overplay. Hoping "Cruel Summer" wins.
Also, hot take, I find "Kill Bill" to be good, but it's never quite clicked for me. I enjoy "Snooze" more tbh.

As for "Escapism", it was a grower for sure, adamantly wasn't into the song that much in the Early 2023, but I enjoyed the song much more as 2023 ends.
