I’m in LOVE with “Too Good to Be True,” and now I’m convinced this record is going to give GH a run for its money…
I want so badly to see Kacey live, especially this tour, but the Indy erasure is real 💔💔💔 Chicago or Columbus, OH are my closest options. Might choose one of those two, tbh.

Got my tickets for Charlotte! Surprisingly didn’t have to sell a kidney to be able to afford decent tickets too.
I realized this will be the 10th time I’ve seen Kacey perform live in any capacity! 6th on tour, 5th where she’s headlining. So excited for this album coming soon!

I wasn’t able to get tickets, Conan Gray dropped tickets this week as well and since he was much much closer, actually deciding to stop here in Indy (and since I love him very deeply lol) I went with him. Hopefully Kacey will come to Indy next time, I still have yet to see her live and I want to so bad.
That snippet of “Cardinal” is fantastic. I’m really starting to think she’s tugging at GH’s wig a little bit.

Got tickets to her Amsterdam show. Haven't seen her since her debut era bc I've lived in places where she hasn't toured. As a big fan since Merry Go 'Round, I'm amped for the experience of hearing so many songs live for the first time. Also, she's playing at my favorite venue here in an old church, and the capacity is 1500, although they might not open upper sections, so should be able to be really close if I get there early (which I will).

Totally forgot this drops on Friday, as I have been focused on Ariana and prepping for Timberlake. Currently at a 79 on Metacritic out of 5 reviews. Doesn't look like Rolling Stone is on board with this project after loving Golden Hour and giving Star-Crossed a solid review. They basically said the back half just blends together. I don't really look to Kacey for dynamics and if she is going full folk, then...yeah, she is gonna pretty much stay low-key. As for the listening party tonight, I actually got a coworker all jazzed up this afternoon to go with me, only to realize that, by the time I finished work and braved the crazy rush hour x SXSW traffic to get to the venue, the album would be done, LOL. Oh well. I'll probably listen to more clips on Friday and then buy it from Target if I like it.

I'm pretty aligned with the Pitchfork review after a first listen. Some of the lyrics are also surprisingly basic, especially on Lonely Millionaire. Some great moments, but they're few and far between. Maybe its subtleties will reveal themselves though. TBD!

Lovely album, sonically and vocally. That opening six-track run is legendary. Hit after hit. She lost me a little bit around the midway point (particularly with “Heart of the Woods” which frankly felt like a pointless song—it literally made no sense to me), but came back swinging at the end. She sounds like Dolly on “Heaven Is,” “Anime Eyes” is a quintessential Kacey Musgraves track, the writing on “Nothing to Be Scared Of” is therapy, “Sway” made me cry and is absolutely going to be a comfort song for me. Oh, and “Jade Green” is that bitch.
It’s a yes from me overall. A-

This album feels like one big exhale I really needed after this past couple of really stressful months.
LOVE it! Not sure if I can articulate or rank favorites atm, but I have to say "Moving Out" and "Dinner with Friends" are really pulling at my heart strings! "Giver/Taker" and "The Architect" sounds like classic Kacey, and "Cardinal" e "Nothing To Be Scared Of" are perfect bookends for this beautiful record.
