I mean, I'm not hating on her strategy, because she's done it several times now to great success. But it's really just to sell multiple copies of the album to fans.
And it's not a new strategy that only she has used. Blink 182 released 3 different versions of Take Off Your Pants and Jacket in 2001 with different bonus tracks, for example.

Like I said, I collect vinyl so these different iterations are amazing to me. If anything I wish they were a bit more exclusive to add value to my collection, but am also super happy it’s accessible to many and all who want to purchase multiples.
The actual thing that annoys me is having to pay shipping multiple times when you know it will ship together from the same warehouse at the same time, and what makes it more annoying is that there’s a greater than average chance all of the variants will be available again to purchase at the same time but her team pulls these FOMO antics that make people unsure if that will actually be the case. That’s the annoying part to me.

Not to be dismissive but no one is forcing anybody to buy the variants. I'm not buying any vinyl until AFTER the release date in order to assess where the bonus tracks land. Im not making the same mistake I did with Midnights. Plus, she's likely to try this stunt again for Rep TV.

We also have not seen what Target has in store for this album.

I mean I need to hear the album first lol but yeah I usually just wait for the Discogs reviews to pour in before deciding on a vinyl variant

I love this version so much. I never knew I needed an acoustic version! The harmonies are amazing New LWYMD TV snippet sounds great Is it just me being used to it or has the “do” been changed back to the normal way?

Tbh this is making me a little less excited for this album. It makes it seem less like the life saving, authentic, glimpse into her heart piece of work and more of a money grab. I don’t get how anyone can justify all these versions and can’t acknowledge that they are solely for money/records. Why else would she do it?

I went to The Eras Tour last night (finally after a year wait!). She is phenomenal! 3.5 hours show without break. Last night was her 6th show in Singapore and there wasn’t a second she gave a half ass show. She gave her all. There’s a reason why she’s the biggest star at the moment. She cares about her work and her fans. I love her even more.

I'm weirdly not excited about this album and I've been excited about everyone since Lover's release. Even when she announced it, I just thought "of course another one." I'll obviously listen to it but I don't think it'll be on repeat for months like her previous ones were. I don't think it's purely a money grab. I think she's more concerned about making headlines, topping the charts, breaking records and that's why they'll be about 15 different versions of the same album.

I knew I should have waited for Target, which always has something cool when it comes to Taylor, but like most fans, I rushed to purchase the album as soon as it was announced.

As I notice "Don't Blame Me" surpassed 1 billion on Spotify and "Enchanted" does as well when combining stolen & Taylor versions, it's so cool that Taylor has all three different types of an old non-single resurgence.
Cruel Summer - the one that came back so hard, it became a full fledged radio single and #1 smash hit Enchanted - the one that went viral and and charted well off of that alone, but wasn't a radio hit Don't Blame Me - the one that went semi-viral, but kept that level of virality for so long, that the song has the stats of a massive hit

I don't get why we are still on the multiple versions she is releasing ???
If you don't like it, don't buy it.
The reason she does it, is because people WILL buy it. Why would she NOT release this many to make money? It would be stupid of her to leave money on the table.
I get the fact completionists want to own something all together and that I do understand the annoyance.. but at the same time, who cares? It's not really a big deal.
She isn't going to stop doing it as long as endless people keep buying it.
I don't care how "Greedy" or foolish it makes her, all I care about is the music which I will consume and digest and analyze independently from the ways she chose to release said music.

I mean, a Target exclusive edition should be no surprise to *anyone* at this point--she's done a Target exclusive edition going all the way back to debut, and she is far from the only one who does some sort of Target exclusive. Why is she the one catching flak for this? Is it because she's the one on top right now?
This is just a color variant version, no bonus track that is exclusive to this version alone. It has handwritten lyric sheets and exclusive photos. If a fan is that strong of a fan that they feel the desire to purchase this in addition to your "standard" vinyl with The Manuscript bonus track, they are not someone we all need to "look out for" or criticize Taylor for. Artists have been doing this for decades; it is a tale as old as time.

My problem is that Midnights wasn't that great for me as a whole. Her versions I don't like at all, they sound rushed and like she put no effort in them. Her only album that I love as a whole is Reputation, and she has yet to top that, for me. So for all this hectic releases and overexposure, I think that if it were someone else, people would be tired of them already. Since it's her, she can get away with it. But even as a fan, I think that releasing so much in so little time, hurts the process of really connecting with and appreciating her music. It hurts the excitement and enthusiasm when it comes to new music. As much as I love the stats and records she breaks, I'd like to back that up with my love to her music.
I'm going to see her in Lisbon in May. I know she'll win me over yet again :) P.S. - if anyone's gonna be there too, let me know :)

If this is the fifth stage of depression - which is acceptance - I love that the vinyl is clear. Clear-minded and a fresh start.

Artists have been doing this for decades; it is a tale as old as time. Because this is the fifth exclusive album? She could charge $1,000 for the cheapest Eras tour ticket and still sell out, doesn't mean she should just because "there's money on the table". Her claims of it being what helped save her or whatever breaking up with Joe, and it coming across as this authentic deep dive into her soul gets diluted when she releases multiples of the same album with one extra song because "money is on the table". She is quite literally a billionare, I think she can afford to not have multiple exclusive versions of the same album with one new track on each Tracklisting often tells a story, it's why Adele got Spotify to remove the auto-shuffle feature on new albums. Artists usually carefully select tracklists so as to sculpt a certain story and sound of the album. That goes out the window when multiple songs are tacked on after the fact. It was bearable with Midnights, as Hits Different was a Target bonus track and we have grown used to them. And while I hate how they rolled it out, You're Losing Me very much feels like a track that wasn't ever supposed to see the light of day, so it makes sense to be excluded from the original tracklist. Where do these five bonus tracks fit in the story of The Tortured Poets Department? Will they all become available at once? How long will we need to wait for all of them to be available on streaming? Will we ever get a complete album There is no reason to do this other than money, and that to me is greed, and lowkey chart/record manipulation. Agree to disagree if you think otherwise, but again, she is a billionaire. She doesn't need more money than the millions she is already going to earn from this album. It will break records without her stooping to five duplicate albums with a bonus track each. It's pointless, frustrating and not a good look.

I hope she releases ten versions of Rep TV just to watch you all lose your minds over it. There is no explanation, just capitalism *cough* reputation.

It’s hard to be excited when so much music has been released by Taylor recently. This is different than the Midnights situation where only “Carolina” was the only major release before it. Too much quantity lessens the excitement when we got so much music recently. Taylor has been my favorite artist for years and there just isn’t the same amount of excitement for this as past releases.

Target Exclusive it is then. No need to pre-order though as Target will make sure it's available in at least 3-4 different places within the store. Every Target in my area still has 30+ copies of 1989 TV vinyl collecting dust.

What are the Lover books? What’s in them? My local shop gets them in semi-regularly (and they always sell out) but I already own the regular CD so I’ve no reason to get one of these versions.

It is funny at people saying how much money she has and that she can do without money...just because she is a billionaire means she can't be a multi billionaire? You are literally telling someone to stop making money. It doesn't matter if she is worth $100 or $1 billion - this is her job and she is here to make money.

So there were four CD variants exclusive to Target, and they were books that included various never before seen photos, journal entries from Taylor at various ages leading all the way up to the making of the album, a ton of blank pages for one to start their own journals in, and of course the CD and lyric booklet. These four copies of the CD contained two additional bonus tracks, which were songwriting memos of “I Forgot That You Existed” and “Lover.”

If you do not wish to give a woman in business more money, then you have every means to listen to it for free on Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube, which she does fully by consent, as there is literally nothing obligating her to do so.

Telling someone to stop making money because they made enough already is foolish. She's good at it, so she can make as much of it as she wants as long as people are willing to give it to her. Just because she can make only millions does not mean she can't try to make more billions.
