"Down Bad" is also one of my favorites and it has a timeless sound but I think it's quite similar to "Fortnight" and her latest sound in general (meaning it's mid-tempo, adult contemporary-ish synthpop). "Guilty As Sin?" sounds like an evolved, more fast paced version of "Down Bad" tbh but the fact that it's not on the setlist doesn't help its chances. She clearly loves her (almost) 6 minute tracks (WAOLOM & BDILH), as they both made the setlist without getting severely butchered. Both could also inspire interesting, cinematic music videos. Maybe she's testing them at the Eras tour? That being said, I need an A-Lister to bring the 2000s pop rock nostalgia back to the radio so I'm also rooting for "So High School". If it's not Taylor, I'm hoping Katy does later this year.
I would love to see her get a proper ballad hit finally. "exile" was truly her best shot but they did nothing with it. "champagne problems" as well but I can see why they didn't push that. This time around, there are many ballads but nothing that screams "single". Perhaps "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived" with a radio edit? I also love "The Black Dog" and "loml".

I've said it before but "ICDIWABH" borders on juvenile and it's really not the kind of song she needs to be releasing as a single these days. It's popular because it's an immediately catchy song on an album where the majority of the songs require time to appreciate. There are other songs that represent the vibe of the album better and would be better singles.
"MBOBHFT" and "GAS?" would be my personal choices. "Down Bad" is fine but I don't think it adds anything noteworthy to her catalogue of singles. I'd absolutely take it over "ICDIWABH" obviously.

That Apple Music list is garbage but 1989 being high I just can't argue with. Truly a timeless pop classic. I wonder if folklore will pop up inside top 10.

Absurdly high. That album has some truly perfect singles, some good/great album tracks, and the rest is either meh or bad. Not unlike other smash hit pop albums, but its ranking more reflects Taylor’s general strength in the industry imo.

No lies detected WHATSOEVER and I say that as a certified, card-carrying Swiftie at this point. TTPD is better than 1989 by a country mile, but doesn't deserve a Top 10 GOAT status, LOL. Meanwhile, Down Bad is one of Taylor's best songs. It's weird - not only could I imagine GAS? as a country song, I could also hear Down Bad as one. It wouldn't be a difficult thing for Taylor to do, if she wanted, but you know she doesn't. Taylor did Billie so bad, LOL, but also, business is business. At least Taylor can back it up with something of the utmost quality. The girls are BRINGING it this year and won't let me rest!

Imma need a Down Bad music video that is space themed. Probably a longshot with her video budgets as of late, but I think that would be something very different for her.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Imagine how amazing of a visual that could be with a budget. In the beginning her being dropped off by the spaceship and then otherworldly visuals as flashbacks mixed with her being depressed doing daily activities back on Earth throughout.

I'd love like a 1920's artsy, space music video something classic like Metropolis. I feel like that would fit into the aesthetic of the black and white.

I was listening to the chorus of "But Daddy I Love Him" and with a sudden realization thought, wait, this is a 34yo woman. 😂

I hear several songs from this at radio. Still not a focus on any one song. Cruel Summer is still played all over the place too.

I still get Cruel Summer and Anti Hero a lot here; Fortnight and Karma pop up sometimes. This particular station even played Message in a Bottle back during RED TV.

Hell, most people of all ages care what people think. lol

It does sound a bit immature but I also do agree you're never too old to give a fuck about the way people see you. And in the public eye everything is scrutinized 100x times more.

She knows she's being silly and ott here. Personally, I love the song and find the chorus to be the funnest moment on the album. It makes me smile each time. I'm 31. ![(rofl)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/rofl.png)

I see "But Daddy I Love Him" as a throwback to her earlier work and not directly reflective of her relationship with Matt Healy. I like it because, to me, it feels more like the storytelling of songs like "Betty" and "Cardigan."

I think it just reminds me of the disconnect between public perception of Taylor's age and her actual age, only further compounded by such lyrics/ideologies. I've known many people who were floored to discover Taylor was in her mid-30s, thinking she was much younger and tbh I couldn't argue against it, as she does present herself much younger (thinking back to the clip in Miss Americana of her at nearly 30 saying she was way too young to be a mother or something to that affect). lol Sometimes I forget Taylor herself was a bit of a child star too so that complicates things. I just kinda want her to deviate from similar lyrics/mentalities at this stage to help correct these issues. I still really enjoy the song, but yeah. 😂

She sometimes makes it very hard to me to support her. I love her music but you cannot convince me that this is for any other reason than to block Billie. There’s a reason why none of her peers at the Grammy’s were happy when she announced this album - because she doesn’t give anyone a chance to take up their own space! It comes across as petty and is a big turnoff for me. Agreed. I haven’t even listened to the album yet, because it’s been way too much music over the past few years. Not sure when I will, tbh. Billie never said anything about Taylor specifically. Taylor’s fans just took it personally. She also is using recycled materials for all her merch/variants, so that’s something to be said. Anyway, Taylor is doing her darnedest, and it shows.

Taylor with her 823 variants of the same album for chart purposes: ![Taylor](https://media.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPTc5MGI3NjExem9td2l0dnVlem1vZWV1MmU5dWp6YTRidWx4dzZpNjlkNGR6eGlueiZlcD12MV9pbnRlcm5hbF9naWZfYnlfaWQmY3Q9Zw/AiEDyBjg53qZioJ5KV/giphy.gif)

Some kinds of EP which contains rare acoustic, remixed or live tracks are OK but can’t figure out the reason why these meaningless digital series. Is there anyone who wants this? I just want tour CD or Blu-ray package in physical.

Hell, I’ve seen 50 year olds act like high school teenagers before. Love just does that to you, especially when it’s toxic 😂

If no one wanted it, no one would buy it, simple as that. It’s supply and demand. Obviously someone wants it because it will boost sales. Intentions aside, it’s silly that people are groaning over alt releases like they have some vested interest in it 😂 “Groan, another variant that I’m being exposed to that I never plan to buy but I’m just annoyed at its existence.” Clearly Taylor is trying to secure the #1, and these digital variants aren’t polluting the planet. Maybe people have a moral issue with it, but that’s more of a personal issue than anything Taylor is doing wrong.

I used to think the same way as you, and still do; it’s just sad to see her using her fans, essentially, to block someone who obviously deserved a number one album and most likely would have had it without Taylor’s cheap attempts at blocking Billie. It’s just unfortune to watch and taints her image, IMO. But again, that’s just me. Edit: yes, Billie is attempting to get that number one as well with a few tactics, but I personally find her tactics more palatable. And, Taylor already went number 1. Thank you for the clarification (post below).

With no pure sale gimmicks, TTPD would still be #1 fair and square. Billie isn't owed for #1 for her album and she is using a high number of cheap tactics herself (more vinyl variants than taylor and a slowed down, speed up digital exclusive of her album) despite saying that she doesn't care about the charts . Nothing wrong with pop artists fighting for #1.

I am okay with Taylor and Billie (friendly) battling for #1. However, all these tactics seems rather unfriendly (especially the shady likes from Billie's manager). There is a difference between trying to get #1 and what I presume will be a "Bad Blood" but this time about Billie. They've been friendly in the past so I hope this does not extend past this week. Could be reading into the things but it really does feel that way.

I just want tour CD or Blu-ray package in physical. There is no practical reason to not group these on an EP. It's a tactic to inflate sales (unneeded? She wasn't just selling well this week regardless, she was a lock for #1 without these). Would have made more sense for next tracking week.

I mean Billie bringing David Albarn on stage after he shaded Taylor and then someone being caught on the hot mic saying “Taylor is going to sue them” PLUS Billie’s indirect yet shady comments about variants and worrying about numbers is enough for Taylor to push for #1 in my book. Some people are acting like Taylor is abusing a child by aiming for #1. lol Billie is a grown adult who made grown adult statements and now she’s looking like a huge hypocrite for doing EXACTLY what she was shading other artists for. How rich!
