What’s so funny to me is that the lyrics point to the song being about her relationship with her fans/GP in light of all the hate she’s been receiving. Even Bowen Yang (Wicked Co-star) basically confirmed it in a podcast and said the song was about how the narrative surrounding her was false and un-true. But most people who are listening to it are making the song about their own romantic or platonic relationships without knowing Ari’s singing directly to them🥹. And I think that just makes it so much more special. But she also said she wrote the song to be open to many different interpretations, so who really knows?

Honestly I have given her a lot of shit this era but kudos to her for actually using a video to elevate a song. Most people these days barely make any effort and I feel like the video is a huge reason this has gone huge. Now if we can also get Dua Lipa to give a fuck about visuals... Exactly, it was always weird to me when people kept saying music videos are not worth the money these days, which yes in some cases they are not needed, but if you can make a really good video it can have a huge impact on a song's performance. |

Something like Rockstar or I Like You will always be bigger than something like Chemical. And that is the only song he wrote trying to make a radio hit lol. Really grown into this one, the chorus melody is so catchy and the song has a nostalgic/melancholic feel to it + the video is fantastic

I had to read the lyrics to get it right.
I thought I was the only one until I heard my 8 year old singing also “eaten” and acting like a monster trying to eat something. Different kind of eating indeed….

The reality is thar Ariana's career peaked during the Thank You next era. You cannot expect her to be at that level for every era. She's still doing better than a lot of artists though.

People forget Ariana’s literally on her 7th album and 11 years into her career (14 if you count victorious). I’d say she’s entering the status of being a pop veteran along with Katy, Gaga, and Taylor. The fact that she’s outdoing her last album at this point especially being one of the most villainized celebrities atm is insane. I literally can’t name a single female pop artist other than taylor who’s avoiding decline this late into her career.

I've been meaning to comment on this smash, but I haven't had time being I've had it on repeat and tried to match every fucking note to capacity. The 1,2,3 punch of this, "bye", and the "yes, and?" remix is everything to me right now.
No way this doesn't have a decent amount of longevity. 10/10. A+. Amazing.

there's something about the song...damn, especially the bridge, and I can't remember the last time I was this impressed by the MV (MTV, give Ariana her Vanguard already). Her best song since NTLTC for me.
