This is such a grower. I can see this ultimately becoming her signature song. It has all of the elements of fan favorites like "Into You" mixed with the (so far) commercial success of songs like "Thank U Next"/"7 Rings"/"Positions." Unlike those three, this one has a timeless feel to it.

Wow HAC has done her dirty. Her only top 5s are Rain On Me and Die For You?? 7 Rings didn’t even go top 10?? At least she is strong on rhythmic compared to most pop artists.

I'd honestly save any remix for a potential third single. This has done well and I see no reason why it won't continue to do so post-debut week, even if it doesn't necessarily spend months at #1; a solid run near the top is almost just as good.

This is the only “Weeknd-compatible” track on the album though, so if they want him in one it’ll have to be this.

As for where they might insert him into the song… I dunno too but they’re great artists they’ll figure it out!

I would like Imogen Heap on a remix of I Wish I Hated You, which is the most Imogen-coded song on the album (& therefore my favourite).

I think this should remain a solo song, it helps sell its personal and vulnerable nature far better.

I could see this being her longest charting song. Only needs 34 weeks. Doesn’t seem like a 7 Rings or Problem that the GP gets tired from quickly. This has potential to be massive on radio and fits in with the synth pop sound of almost every massive hit since 2020.

I love how this song is both extremely personal and specific to her life yet also so universal. Just the title alone is brilliant - “we can’t be friends” could be interpreted as both a breakup line or a confession to a new love. I definitely think that’s a big part of why it’s connecting so well with the GP
