I had sky-high expectations for this so on first listen it was honestly a letdown, but I'm coming around to it detaching it from the sample/inspiration and enjoying it for what it is.

Wait - I literally made no connection to the Brandy & Monica classic? Of course the title conjures it right away. And yes, this seems 90's R&B inspired. But I don't hear a sample in the production or reference in the lyrics?

Haven't heard it yet, but I don't believe there is a sample or even interpolation, since no one is credited except Max, Ilya, Davidior, Yasuda, and Ari. If there is any kind of interpolation, it must be light enough to not warrant a credit. |

^ I agree, she's done soemthing similar before with 'positions' and '34+35' which both made the top, 'we can't be friends' is already doing great so why not use more of 'yes, and?'s spins on another single
