I don't think there's a need to post daily updates. Unlike the pop board, we only do updates here once a song has reached a certain region, like say, top 5, 10, 20, etc. And now that this has reached pop, I don't think the daily updates are needed in this thread anymore.

And hopefully this is the highest this gets. This will be the least successful Imagine Dragons era at AAA as most of the new stations won't be adding this and due to the change in sound trend. But how low this does compared to their other charters remains to be seen.
(I would have commented on the daily updates issue regardless if I liked or disliked the song, fyi)

I was hoping with the re-release of their old EPs with never heard before bonus tracks and the two unreleased songs from the Night Visions 10th anniversary album would hint at a return to their earlier sound – especially with artists like Fall Out Boy, Green Day, etc. starting to get back to their earlier and better sounds. Guess not.

The more I listen to this, the more I can’t NOT loop it in the same tier as “Thunder”
These guys are the biggest Alt band of the 2010s and they’re doing shitty pitch shifted vocals that you’d hear from a YouTube parody song.

On the sliding scale of Imagine Dragons singles, this is towards the lower middle end. It's pretty un-good, but in a way that's like, you know. We've been here before. This sounds just like another Natural or Believer or Enemy or whatever. Not really offering anything particularly new in a good or bad way, just kinda what you'd expect from them.

OK, initial impression - It's classic Imagine Dragons - and, yes, very, very good. The hooks make you second-guess (a good thing, for me) and the rapping was unexpected. It's a #1 at alt., just a matter of how many weeks over. I'm taking the 'over' on 10 weeks. Is it #1 alt. song of 2024? I'm taking the 'under' on that one - don't know if 100% of the forum are bought in on an 8+ month-er, like they have virtually all their late 2010s radio singles and beyond. Outside chance this bucks the trend and bows out between 25-30 weeks. Don't see that happening, necessarily, either. Top 40, I'm predicting denting the top 20. Hot AC top 10. I think AAA smash, as well...sounds completely unlike this format but for whatever reason, they seem to be absorbing a lot of the "indie-pop" (for whatever lack of better term) Alt-leaning artists. Welp!!! |
