Does anyone know why so many random songs got such massive radio updates today? Cruel Summer and Flowers randomly gained over 2.6 million in audience. Several other older songs made massive gains as well

similarly to hozier, I feel like it isn't the last that we heard of Posty as an a-lister. With the rise in country music's popularity and the direction that hos music is taking, I think that within the next five years his career might have a commercial renaissance

It'll be interesting to see how "Like That" does in the coming weeks. Taylor might not even be able to debut at #1 if its streaming holds up. Might be "The Box" of this year. ? You know Taylorβs last real new single debuted at 550 or 600 points right? Honestly, I completely forgot how big the debut for "Anti-Hero" was! For some reason I was thinking it was 350-400. Since then spotify has grown quite a bit so she could outdo herself if the quality of her next album is on par with Midnights.

Has there ever been an example of a one hit wonder randomly blowing up a decade later? I know Shaggy went six years between Boombastic and It Wasn't Me/Angel and Golden Earring went nine between Radar Love and Twilight Zone, but it seems like Hozier is becoming a legit star nearly 10 years after his one U.S. hit. A lot have been mentioned, but another one to add is Enya. She had a top 30 hit in 1989 then didn't have another hit until "Only Time" went top 10 in 2001. And while they didn't have big hits, one I find interesting is General Public having a top 30 hit with "Tenderness" in 1985 and then getting a #22 hit in 1994. I kept thinking of General Public, indeed :) (although in Peru their song Faults and All was also a minor hit). Re Enya, sheβs more an outlier IMO as sheβs primarily a New Age artist and her songs were more an anomaly in pop music. Another artist I was thinking of, with several caveats and asterisks, is Martha Wash. As lead singer of The Weather Girls she had a big hit with Itβs Raining Men. And about 10 years later her voice would be heard in lots of dance hits even if uncredited. Gonna make you sweat, Strike it up, I donβt know anybody else brought her back even if her name wasnβt credited and the videos had other people lip syncing to her voice

Gonna make you sweat, Strike it up, I donβt know anybody else brought her back even if her name wasnβt credited and the videos had other people lip syncing to her voice I thought of another who only had one big hit but who fits the timeline: Billy Vera. He hit #36 in 1968 with "Country Girl - City Man," a duet with Judy Clay, and then in 1981 with his group the Beaters hit #39 with "I Can Take Care of Myself." But then, in 1987, the single originally released in 1981 as the followup and only getting to #79 was re-released following its use on "Family Ties," which was the #2 show in America at the time, and "At This Moment" got to #1. And he never hit the Hot 100 again! So he didn't have any big first hits like "Take Me to Church," but the time span involved is pretty unique.

Itβs crazy that Hozier didnβt get this much streams with his last years album. Iβm not complaining but why the sudden increase in his recent song?
I thought Post Malone chart run is over but the snippet with Morgan and his feature on Taylor Swifts upcoming album says he got more juice left.

^Hozier's song is not from his previous album, but from the EP he released this week.
While Post might not have as much success in the Hot 100 as when he was at his peak, it'll be interesting to see how he does.

Two years ago Post had Weeknd and Doja on his album, and now we'll get 3 huge collabs in the next few weeks, Posty really wants a hit, good for him tho.

Interesting that it seems only the 3 biggest songs off of We Dont Trust You are the only truly stable ones. As for Post, i feel he can have a Weeknd 2023 run (minus The Idol) with 2 massive hits if his collabs with Morgan and Taylor do well. Speaking of Morgan iβve heard that Cowgirls just had itβs best streaming day in about a year, so get ready for that to be a smash when it gets a single push unfortunately.

Because people are craving new music from Morgan and the sound from Posty seems to be received well. The 10 second clip is blowing up on the shazam charts and over tiktok and social media. It screams #1 hit

I honestly don't see Morgan Wallen sticking around in country music much longer. I have a feeling we are gonna get a pop record from him very shortly, especially with all the country award shows ignoring him last year.

The fan base is loyal and will follow wherever. His last album was basically a country and pop album just mixed and split across the discs in random order but you could have easily just sorted them into their respective discs and released a year a part haha

Why would Wallen leave Country though? It's not a Taylor Swift situation where CHR is begging for at least a Pop remix of his stuff to be able to play him. It's a much harder market for his type of act and honestly he doesn't need to take that risk.

Morgan will 100% stick with Country, while releasing pop sounding singles here and there that will work on CHR. This strategy has worked for him immensely, and it's how some of his biggest hits have managed to stay strong. Better to have multiple formats than just one.
Pop isn't necessarily clamoring for him, but it's also very accepting of him because no other Country artist can manage to be played as much as him on Pop.

Female country artists can go pop (like Taylor, Shania, Faith Hill, & Dolly back in the day) but it's harder for male artists to do it. Maybe the ghost of Garth Brooks' "Chris Gaines" fiasco still lurks in the back of people's minds...

I think Morgan will be fine if he just straddles the line between pop and country with a tilt to the latter. And have enough crossover singles to get play on both formats. I dont think he really needs pop radio either so i dont see him fully going there.
