TTPD seems boring and has no single like Anti-Hero. Fortnight is apparently the lead, yet slow and Post is relegated to background vocals mostly, even toward the end.

It seems likely it'll have an unfathomably huge debut, but end up with poor longevity. Maybe even the first-week streams don't surpass Midnights... the tired synthpop sound needs to go at this point.

TTPD is the most whelmed I've ever been from a Taylor album - hype and think pieces will drive it to number one (and probably dominate the top 10) but I doubt it has Hot 100 longevity. (but also like, it's not going to never not have longevity, all of Taylor's albums get gargantuan residuals each week and live in the upper echelons of the BB200)

i haven't listened to the album yet, but even if it's sonically mid like people have been saying, im pretty sure that as long as it's good enough to be the backing sound to whatever it is she's spilling in the album about her last two exes, it'll do just fine long term especially with the tour restarting.

I don't think you're using the term correctly. Silent majority refers to acts who still have consistent success even though it doesn't seem like it from the outset. Coldplay for instance is a silent majority act since while they haven't had a hit on their own in years (My Universe was because of BTS, not them) they still are amongst the best selling tour acts around. A lot of country and adult contemporary acts also fall into this category. They have a lot of fans but a majority of which aren't loud enough to make a presence on streaming, sales, etc.

Taylor Swift, a woman who's led the most successful concert tour in history even after adjusting for inflation, who had one of the highest grossing films of 2023 domestically, who's broken several streaming and sales records, and who's had 6 number one singles in the past 5 years alone, does not have a fanbase that is silent.

The loud minority screamed on social media about how underwhelming, long and boring Midnights was. The silent majority gave it a couple of smash hits and made it one of the best selling and streamed albums of 2022 and 2023. The silent majority streams, stans, buys and goes to concerts too. They just don't rant about popstars on social media which only a very loud minority does.

Perhaps Taylor personally just thought he was a good fit? Why does it have to be somebody else’s idea lol. She’s far past the point in her career where she has to work with someone because a label/team said she should.

Also she’s worked with plenty of artists that don’t really share similar fandoms. Brendon Urie, Fall Out Boy, Ice Spice, Future, etc also don’t really have much in common besides being popular mainstream artists too.
