2017 had this in some form: Hip-Hop was the most dominant with 1-800 going viral, Migos breaking through off of Bad and Boujee, Kendrick's best year commercially, Cardi B becoming famous with Bodak Yellow, Post Malone not being a one hit wonder with Congratulations and rockstar, Future having a solo hit, Lil Uzi dropping XO TOUR, 21 Savage was also blowing up around this time This was the year reggaeton finally broke through with Mi Gente and of course Despacito Pop had Havana, Harry Styles debuting, reputation era Taylor Swift, Kesha and Bruno Mars' comeback, Ed Sheeran's biggest ever era Country was weak as Body Like A Backroad was the only huge country hit but that year was also the breakthrough of Luke Combs Dance had Calvin Harris with Funk Wav Bounces + hits from Kygo and Zedd, and The Chainsmokers dropping their debut album We had representation in R&B with SZA dropping Ctrl, the breakthrough of Khalid, and Redbone becoming a sleeper hit, Weeknd continuing the momentum from Starboy Even "rock" (or at least alt stations) had Imagine Dragons and Portugal the Man to play There's Nothing Holding Me Back count as Rock songs IMO How many rock songs have you heard?

Taylor has too much prescence on streaming to be considered a silent majority and a lot of her songs aren't driven primarily by radio ???? I don't think you're using the term correctly. Silent majority refers to acts who still have consistent success even though it doesn't seem like it from the outset. Coldplay for instance is a silent majority act since while they haven't had a hit on their own in years (My Universe was because of BTS, not them) they still are amongst the best selling tour acts around. A lot of country and adult contemporary acts also fall into this category. They have a lot of fans but a majority of which aren't loud enough to make a presence on streaming, sales, etc. Taylor Swift, a woman who's led the most successful concert tour in history even after adjusting for inflation, who had one of the highest grossing films of 2023 domestically, who's broken several streaming and sales records, and who's had 6 number one singles in the past 5 years alone, does not have a fanbase that is silent.

The loud minority screamed on social media about how underwhelming, long and boring Midnights was. The silent majority gave it a couple of smash hits and made it one of the best selling and streamed albums of 2022 and 2023. The silent majority streams, stans, buys and goes to concerts too. They just don't rant about popstars on social media which only a very loud minority does. Hope that clarifies what I meant.
