So just listened to Taylor's new album in full and the tracks that stood out for me as radio friendly are:
-I Can Do It With a Broken Heart -Fortnight -So High School -I Hate it Here
I'm curious to see how these will perform streaming-wise in the next couple of days. Fortnight is already being promoted as the lead single and will likely soon gain Pop/HAC/AC airplay but I feel like the real hit on this record is ICDIWABH. I wouldn't be surprised if that song outpaces Fortnight on streaming very soon.

Btw letβs stop this βdrake wants revenge for antiheroβ nonsense. Theyβre amicable. He made a few tweets referencing her or the deities that were positive or fun in nature last year. Stop creating drama where there isnβt any.. Lol weβre not saying theyβre mortal enemies or that thereβs even animosity. Theyβre the two biggest names in music the past decade, having fun with some healthy competition is normal.

I get your point and share it, but no one has come with a good solution. Look at whatever mess is the UK chart. Only three songs chart and then they arbitrarily get their points halved because they want shorter runs... it's inaccurate af. I would personally love to see a βqualifyingβ week put in place for the hot 100 where nothing can chart in its initial release week of streaming. See what actually holds up past fan-rush. Not like you eliminate #1 debut possibilities either, since itβs 2nd week would be its βdebut.β So instead of Nicki debuting at #12 and dropping to #78 on second week she would just debut at #78? Labels would never agree.

Reportedly The Tortured Poets Department is the biggest first day for an album in Spotify history now too. π

Sure labels could still manipulate the charts with physical/digital singles , but it was a lot harder to get a true flash the pan top ten or #1 than this streaming mess. And if a song canβt manage a higher peak than #78 after week 2, then it was never really a hit in the first place. Exactly my point for what Iβd like to see eliminated.

And if a song canβt manage a higher peak than #78 after week 2, then it was never really a hit in the first place. Exactly my point for what Iβd like to see eliminated. People have never had faster options to consume music than nowadays. Charts going frontloaded is a reflection of how easily accessible music is now. You can't compare that to when people had to tune in endlessly to radio in hopes their song might pop up. Or actually leave the house to pick a CD single (or even worse, your song is not a physical single and you gotta buy an entire album...) Does it make for fairly accurate peaks? In the sense of, a #1 song being the same huge deal it was? No. But a singular peak week never was meant to be more than a representation of the most consumed songs that particular week. It's why you can't convince me that Houdini was a flop when it only peaked at #11 bc it spent four months after that charting. It's why a chart run/longevity is just as important. Otherwise you'd get people saying TROLLZ was a huge deal just bc it went #1 (but ignoring the fact it did not survive inside top 100 longer than 3 weeks).

Is it safe to say deuces to Fast Car, Paint the Town Red, Houdini and Wild Ones? Add Burn It Down, Man Made A Bar, Paint The Town Red, and Where The Wild Things Are to the pile. And Water too if she really overperforms.

Going backwards rather than forwards is a lot worse for the charts and how music is measured. IDGAF about longevity, if it's accurate that Taylor Swiftbhad the 10 most consumed songs within a week, the charts should reflect that.

Otherwise you'd get people saying TROLLZ was a huge deal just bc it went #1 (but ignoring the fact it did not survive inside top 100 longer than 3 weeks). But youβre basically arguing for what Iβm arguing for. Songs being better reflections of their peaks again. Houdini feels like a #11 hit. Nothing big, but it stuck around long enough to feel like it was a lower top ten or barely missed top ten song. Opposed to Trollz, which as you say, does not seem like a #1. Who wants to βanalyzeβ a chart run to look at more than just the peak years down the line? You didnβt used to have to do that so much because songs were, for the most part, decent reflections of their peaks on the hot 100. Or at least far more so than whatβs happened this decade.

My first thought was that AS IF she was ever in a relationship with a man that looks like Post Malone lol The song is boring as hell, I can see other song from the album being the "real hit" from the album unless radio just decides to play this for ages.

Drake mission is to ruin 10/10 this time. Itβs not his βmissionβ β¦ He needed to get it out, heβs in a beef with Kendrick Lamar. Messing up her top 10 can be a extra side thing but it is not his overall mission. Important stuff is going on outside of Taylor Swift related things. Oh now he has "Taylor made freestyle" Looks like the important stuff is Taylor related things after all

I mean. Drake pretty much said in the freestyle that he would have waited a week after Taylor to drop his response to Kendrick due to how much she make all the conversation centered around her release that it's almost like all other music news doesnt exist for that week. Pretty sure if Push Ups hasn't leaked Drake would have waited until next week to release it
