19. I Wish - R. Kelly (13): Ahh yeah it's pretty expecting and not shocking to see this song rank last here. I do really like this and yeah with R. Kelly songs, I do want to rank them based on how I feel solely on the song. Really like it but not a very top favorite of mine from him. Wow it's interesting to learn how 2Pac was supposed to be featured on that song. Sad how that couldn't have happened. Ooof ouch at 13 #19/last place rankings but that's not a surprise.

18. Bounce With Me - Lil Bow Wow feat. Xscape (16): Awww Bow Wow's debut single. hahaha wow this song really takes me back. This is such a fun and cute debut single from him. It's fun, catchy and enjoyable. Not surprised this ranked so low but with such a stacked list, it makes sense.

17. Liar - Profyle (19): Sadly for Profyle, this was the only song on this list I didn't really know or remember - but I really enjoyed this while listening to it. It's a good, smooth and solid R&B song. But again, with such a stacked list like this, it just didn't stand out as much as I wish it could have.

16. Incomplete - SisQó (9): Aww dang, sad to see a Top 10 song of mine go out so soon but I guess I get it. I love this and think this is such a smooth and great ballad from Sisqo. I always found this song to be underrated and this ranking shows that. I wish it could have gotten a higher ranking here.

It peaked at #4 on the R&B chart and was the first song to top the Hot 100 on the strength of airplay alone. It interpolates "I Know You Got Soul" by Eric B. & Rakim, and received a Grammy nomination for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.

So far solid start. "Incomplete" went out a bit earlier, but the other three were nothing particularly worth revisiting imo.

I Wish definitely got knocked down mostly for just being R Kelly which, I mean I get it, but I try to separate the artist from the art unless the music is connected to the bad things they did (see Tory Lanez).

Liar might’ve been my last place, but I wouldn’t say I hate the track. It just kinda was off (although I will say the “skit” in the song is stupid).

12. Thank God I Found You - Mariah Carey

"Thank God I Found You" was the follow-up to her #1 "Heartbreaker". Written and produced with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, it was her 15th song to top the Hot 100. Months after the song's success, songwriters Seth Swirsky and Warryn Campbell sued Mariah for copyright infringement, claiming that the song borrowed heavily from a song they wrote for Xscape titled "One Of Those Love Songs". It was initially dismissed, but the Ninth Circuit Court Of Appeals reversed that decision, and the lawsuit was reinstated. Both sides eventually reached an out-of-court settlement.

The original version of "Thank God I Found You" features Joe and 98 Degrees. The Make It Last Remix features Joe and Nas and samples "Make It Last Forever" by Keith Sweat and Jacci McGhee.

15. Separated - Avant (18): I think this was the song that introduced me to Avant. Ahh I feel bad for ranking this at #18, as I do really like this song. But gah this list is insanely stacked that I just knew that it would rank towards the bottom of my list. Not sure if I'm surprised about this having the lowest SD or not.

14. Let's Get Married - Jagged Edge (8): Lovee this and one of my top favorites from Jagged Edge. I really love the original version and feel it doesn't get enough credit on here. It's so soulful, smooth and just so good. Love the remix and it's such a different but fun take on this song. Both versions are great. Wish this had done better overall though.

13. Wifey - Next (10): Maybe not as iconic or memorable as "Too Close," but this is still a great and fun jam! My second favorite song from Next's. Love the vibe of this. It's just such a fun and catchy song.

12. Thank God I Found You - Mariah Carey (15): It is rather surprising to see Mariah miss having a song make it to the Top 10. Also wow interesting seeing this song with the highest SD. I guess I can get that as the rankings are all over the place here, lol. Anyway, I do really like this song. The original version is beautiful & stunning and the remix is smooth like butter. I do really like both versions but don't love either and this isn't amongst my very favorites from Mariah. But it's still solid.

11. I Wish - Carl Thomas (6): Ahh dangg, soo sad to see this song miss making the Top 10 but I am not too surprised. Ugh but this is just so good. Carl Thomas has such a great and smooth soulful voice, which is exactly what this song is. Love this a ton.

Regarding the extras, maannnn, it's highway robbery that "Try Again" did not manage to make it to #1 on this chart. Such an iconic song and would have been a strong contender for my #1 on this list of songs. Just one of my all-time favorites. Amazing and iconic song + music video from Aaliyah.

thank god I found you is so overhated, it's always been a beautiful song to me. I did a mariah carey singles rankdown elsewhere recently and that song was last which was confusing to me. at least it wasn't close to the bottom here but #12 still feels too low.

Legend Carlos Santana had made the R&B chart a few times in the '70s, most notably with the song "Oye Como Va", which peaked at #32 in 1971. His biggest hit on the chart came nearly three decades later, with some help from the duo The Product G&B. The follow-up to the #1 smash "Smooth", "Maria Maria" matched that success on the Hot 100, fueled in part by its Grammy win for Best Pop Vocal Perfomance By a Duo Or Group. It also hit #1 in six other countries. Co-written and co-produced by Wyclef Jean, it samples "God Made Me Funky" by The Headhunters and "Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nuthing Ta Fuck Wit" by Wu-Tang Clan. The song was itself sampled in DJ Khaled's 2017 hit "Wild Thoughts".
