If I were Taylor Swift and obsessed with the charts, my next radio single would be a non-Top 10 to break my own record. Since it's not top 10, I would invite someone like Kendrick or Jack Harlow for a remix. Possibly releasing 5 or more singles (non Top 10) to break Mariah's record without releasing another album and effortlessly break a lot of records. Clever, right? ๐

Ahh, it will not be hitting streaming. Allegedly it samples an Al Green song that Drakeโs uncle wrote on ๐
I suppose it could still happen? Also, apparently Jack Antonoff contributed production work on this track.

Oh, my apologies for not speaking gibberish fluently just like you because I have a job and my own business. I'm talking about her recent album release Madam.Since she already got 10 top 10. Why not promoting those tracks that missed the top 10. That's just me If I were her in my golden moment.

I wholeheartedly agree with pikandru. I think the TS logic was "let's choose a spice pick for #1 since it's always gonna go #1. But let's choose the fan favorite as the second single so that we get 2 easy #1s from this album." I don't see her getting the necessary streaming from any future singles to hit #1 again. It's becoming increasingly difficult to get 2 or more #1s from an album since most of the streaming is front loaded. Ariana did it but she waited to release the 2nd single
In response to previous posts such as these, yes the plan explained to get at least two #1s makes sense, but why not make the first single at least nearly as good as the second to maximize the success of that single as well? There's no reason to pick a "bad" song and one of the worst on the album (I know some might disagree with me, but many wouldn't) as the first single. It's like the head-scratching ME! situation all over again. And yes, because all of her streams will be heavily front-loaded, it will be hard to get post-album #1s (as Midnights failed to do). Maybe not so much if they push ICDIWABH very imminently, but not if they wait like another 2-3 months. As mentioned, as with Ariana and other artists, the best way to get 2 #1s would've been to release single #1 before the album, but then there's other competing interests and priorities to maximize profits with Taylor, in which they decided releasing everything all at once would be better for the album as a whole.

I guess it depends on what the top priority is. She could have released a single before the album, guaranteeing a #1 with that and possibly another with the single that came with the album release, but then that could risk diminishing the hype for the album if the first single isn't super well-received (and let's be real, I think any song from the album, had it come before the rest of the album, would have gotten mixed results). Of course, a way around that potentially would be to release two songs that represent the range of the album a la Ed Sheeran when he did "Shape Of You" and "Castle On The Hill." "Shape" represented the easy pop hit, while "Castle" appeased the old fans who would have been upset at the other song. I think for someone in Taylor's position (and any major artist nowadays with significant hype behind them), they can win through pre-orders by keeping as much under wraps as possible and I'd say album sales > Hot 100 #1s when significant album sales are achievable.

well the money that comes from maximizing album sales >>>>> the money that comes from a pre-release #1 song

How have the charts gotten this insane in only a month?
I was fully expecting a slower week given it was the fallout of The Tortured Poets Department but this might've wound up being just as newsworthy as like week. And that starts with a new number one as dethroning Taylor Swift is her tourmate Sabrina Carpenter with 'Espresso' hitting #1 thanks to a huge 30.44% gain. It's likely hasn't peaked yet in streaming and congratulations are in oder for Sabrina notching her first ever chart topper. This doesn't not mean Fortnight has collapsed though as while it was down 44.35%, the difference between it and Espresso was 74K streams so it's still a strong song. But we've also got new blood gunning for the top spot as Shaboozey's A Bar Song (Tipsy) rocketed up 54.27% in streams as it positions itself as a frontrunner for the Song of the Summer.
It knocked down 'I Can Do It With A Broken Heart' which was down 36.49% in streams but looks to be the fanfavorite deepcut that Taylor should consider pushing as her second single. It held better than the two other Taylor Swift songs in the Top 10, Down Bad and So Long London which dropped 49.45% and 54.46% respectively.
But then we've got two debuts in the Top 10 that are looking to see huge gains next week. The first is MILLION DOLLAR BABY by Tommy Richman, a song who's snippet went viral on TikTok and led to a huge debut stremaing week, garnering 12.4M in one week. A version of the song with the bass blown out also debuted and with combined streams ,the song did 8.3M in its first week. But even more impressive and a song that got everyone buzzing was Kendrick Lamar's 'euphoria' a response to Drake's diss track thaat even though it was only tracking for 3 full days, managed to debut in the Top 10 with 11.4M.
It was a decent second week for Taylor as despite her songs seeing harsh drops, overall she still held well with her album. Who's Afraid of Little Old Me? was down 49.47%, My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys dropped by 54.06%, But Daddy I Love Him fell by 54.24%, Guilty as Sin? lost 47.37% of its streams, Florida!!! went down 52.47%, and the title track saw the second biggest fall with a 59.12% decrease. Still despite the album as a whole being down 51.74%, it still garnered 254M, without a doubt the most an album has done in its second week!
The momentum didn't stick with $uicideboy$ though as Are you Going to see the Dust... dropped by 24.32% and Us Vs. Them fell 32.76%. Push Ups by Drake was down by 25.79% which is a better hold than anyone can expect for a diss track. In other happenings, If We Being Rรซal looks to be going viral while songs Yeah Glo!, Belong Together, Sundress, and BEST INTEREST reach new peaks.
Notable Gains: A Bar Song (Tipsy) - 54.27% If We Being Rรซal - 35.4% Espresso - 30.44% Yeah Glo! - 24.21 Cowgirls - 20.82% Unwritten - 20.4% Where the Wild Things Are - 19.68% She Got the Best of Me - 19.37% From the Start - 19.27% Sundress - 18.33% Belong Together - 18.32% Nonsense - 17.23% Brown Eyed Girl - 16.24% BEST INTEREST - 15.93% See You Again - 13.26% Feather - 12.77% Evergreen - 11.58% Ain't No Sunshine - 11.37% Sweater Weather - 11.32% Bandit - 10.71% Hey Driver - 10.16% Sun to Me - 9.91% Last Night - 9.84% You Proof - 9.8% We Ride - 9.67% HOT TO GO! - 9.6% Us Vs. Sabrina casually having two radio smashes at the same time Now everybody stream Fast TImes
Justice for Thumbs Thumbs is okay. Not really a fan of the hook or the effects on her voice but it's catchy.

Who's Afraid Of Little Old Me? is the 4th biggest TTPD song currently, as it should be. Considering I have very few songs on the album I genuinely love, Iโm living for how the few ones that I do are basically proving themselves to be the ones with the most streaming staying power.

Do we know how close Me came to hitting #1 in terms of points? Final Predictions --- TOP 10 --- May 11, 2019
For comparison, the #1's during March of 2019 (Shallow, Sucker, 7 Rings) had half of the points "ME!" got in that particular week. But seeing the points of "ME!" in Week #3 went to only around 27,000-28,000, it seems that it would've spent only a week at #1 if she released the song around late-February or early-March.
