Very disappointingly low, especially for a song that I had personally ranked as high. One of Foo Fighters' most emotionally hard-hitting performances, carried by the fact that it's one of several of their tributes to the late Taylor Hawkins for their 2023 album.

Rounding out the three-way tie of songs from artists starting with the letter H with Hozier. The distortion near the end is where it really gets me.

#40: even though it's disturbing to know what's going on with this guy, I enjoy this as much as I did in 2023 March Madness
#39: enjoyable and camp AOR, a good choice from the Barbie soundtrack
#38: I might have underranked this song a bit though I have heard other songs by this band on SiriusXMU that I can get into more
#37: a great FF song, also surprised to see this placing here
#36: a fun and quirky song that I actually first heard in my Discover Weekly
#35: a delightfully feminine song I ranked fairly high in Wintertime Madness and it has NOT grown off me no matter how many times it get stuck in my head
#34: this is one of several rock/indie songs around the middle of my list that I had trouble ranking since they were all very good or great
#33: I have always liked this song but also feel it doesn't hit as emotionally hard as it should, also a Wintertime Madness song
#32: I have kind of a mixed reaction to this song's lyrics but I love how it sounds melodically
#31: gay club music with strong house production, another song I ranked in WTM

HONORABLE MENTIONS EXTRAS #2:Troye Sivan - One of Your GirlsMy favorite Troye Sivan song of 2023 was a toss-up between this and "Rush" before I decided on the latter.Charli XCX - Speed Drive I do somewhat feel bad for snubbing this, even considering that I love Charli XCX and this song does evade the 'one song per artist' rule, but there's just plenty of other Charli songs I've liked over this.Foo Fighters - Under You Would've included this on my list if it weren't for my 'one song per artist' rule. [2]Jeff Rosenstock - LIKED U BETTER Would've included this on my list if it weren't for my 'one song per artist' rule. [3]The Aces - AttentionPretty much my favorite track from The Aces' recent album.Slayyyter - Out of Time The best song to be titled "Out of Time" since The Weeknd's.HMLTD - The Worm This song, along with the rest of HMLTD's discography tbf, may not be for everyone, but the concept they went with for their recent album piqued my interests in them.Vylet Pony - Hush! My actual favorite track from Vylet Pony's 2023 album, which I would best describe as an 8-minute long fusion of Dry Cleaning and Aphex Twin. (I wanted to play things a little safe with my first hosted rankdown, which of course was why "The Carrion Child," a relatively shorter song, is on the rankdown)Olivia Rodrigo - all-american bitch Would've included this on my list if it weren't for my 'one song per artist' rule. [4]Mitski - My Love Mine All Mine Finishing this set with a song from another artist already appearing on this rankdown. Picking my favorite track from This Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We wasn't really easy, but the success the song has earned makes it a close second for me.

Who would've thought that My Little Pony fan music would sound this good? Vylet's songs tend to be unpredictable, so it makes sense for me to say that this surprised me upon first listen. And don't think this is the only time you'll be seeing this artist appear on my lists. (NOTE: The official video has a seizure warning so I'll have to link the song from Spotify instead of YouTube)

When I said I was going to cheat by including one song not from 2023, this is what I meant. "Ceilings" was released the year before, but 2023 was the year that I've gotten into Lizzy McAlpine, and I owe it to this song becoming a surprise hit that year (well, if you would count any song with a peak of #54 on the Hot 100 as a hit).

The sole foreign language song to make my top 50 songs list for 2023. it managed to have an impressive run on the top half, but it ended up missing it with the last submission received.
