I guess it was fitting that the highest SD would go to a band whose debut album cover features a ceramic wiener, let alone that it would be out at the very halfway point.

Like I said prior, it wasn't easy for me to pick the best track from Mitski's 2023 album. IMO, "The Deal" is the main highlight for its songwriting and for its general laid-back vibe.

My favorite track from the Rat Saw God album, plain and simple. (*NOTE: On the previous reveal, "$20" was said to have 250 points. It was actually 259. That will be immediately fixed in its post after this reveal)

HONORABLE MENTIONS EXTRAS #3:
Greta Van Fleet - The Indigo Streak
This set will be the start of what will be not the favorite segment of many - that in which I would like to call the "controversial contenders" set, but there shouldn't be that many. Anyways, I'm starting it off with my favorite track from the new Greta Van Fleet album.
Demi Lovato - Skyscraper (Rock Version)
From the fairly contested Revamped album consisting of many other Demi Lovato songs re-recorded for the specific style of sound. Of course, considering that this is a re-recording of an older song, it already doesn't qualify for the top 50 songs of the year, but at the very least, I got one thing I wanted to see out of all these re-recording.
Sleep Token - The Summoning
The Sleep Token album that this song is from is so divisive that no one can seem to agree whether it's the worst thing ever or actually the best thing ever. "The Summoning" is by no means a traditional metal song, but I've come to appreciate both the heavy and soft elements of it. Whether you agree with me or not, the outro is one of the most iconic music moments from the year.
Janelle Monae featuring Seun Kuti and Egypt 80 - Float
Even Janelle Monae at her "lowest" can still manage to prop up with something really good.
Leah Kate - Unbreakup
Definitely one of the most unexpected glow-ups of 2023 came from none other than the artist best known for "Twinkle Twinkle Little Bitch." This song in particular is my favorite from her album.
Portugal. The Man - Grim Generation
A really standout track from an album that's otherwise only fairly decent.
Jelly Roll - Dancing with the Devil
Now to bring out the big guns. I don't consider myself a fan of this guy's music by any stretch, but he somehow really impressed me with a deep cut from his 2023 album.
Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson - Save Me
Oh, but what could be worse than one Jelly Roll song I've considered as a contender for my top 50? How about TWO Jelly Roll songs?
Green Day - Dilemma
Ending this set of so-called controversial picks with what may perhaps be Green Day's best single in years.
Caroline Polachek - Welcome to My Island
And last of all, here's a song unrelated to the previous nine honorable mentions. You'll be able to rank this song on my Top 50 Songs of 2022 rankdown (Whenever that starts).

Dilemma will probably be like 50 spots higher than The American Dream Is Killing Me on the 2024 Alt rankdown.

Ngl, I definitely underestimated how high these country songs were going to be on this rankdown. I suppose I may have picked some of the best country songs from that year. This one in particular is my favorite track from Zach Bryan's self-titled album. Considering his pace of new music releases, this certainly won't be the only time you'll be seeing him appear on my rankdowns.

Released at the tail-end of 2022, but I consider it more as a 2023 song, especially since it is my favorite track from This is Why. Another decently big loss for me too.
