Posty and Morgan have topped Spotify Global with 13.9 million streams and Spotify US with 7.8 million streams. But don’t feel too bad for Kendrick as he rose in streams again and broke another Drake record.

I Had Some Help is fine, better than Last Night for sure, and that's why I'm afraid lol. If THAT song topped the chart for 16 and was in the top 10 for 41 weeks, I can't even imagine what this one will do...Summer #1 is basically locked I'd say, and it'll challenge Lovin On Me for YE #1 (I kinda want to jinx it with my preds).

1.5M in Canada (doubled NLU numbers) and 1.1M in UK #1 in Ireland, Norway, #2 in Sweden Top 20 in Netherlands, Germany and some other European countries Not a global smash but the numbers for the half-country song is a really huge.

Makclemore's HIND'S HALL is now on streaming.
The song is currently #3 on iTunes. All proceeds go to UNRWA

If Autoplay is Spotify choosing songs for you, does it count as programmed streams?

This year is so ridiculous. How is Kendrick pulling 7M per day on Spotify like a week after releasing? And he's at #2??
Morgan and Post debuting with Taylor Swift numbers is also surprising. Feel like Wallen's thing has always been that his audience isn't large enough for eye-popping day 1 streams but they will listen to him on loop for years. This might be his most pop song ever though? catchy too, I caught myself humming the melody this morning and I listened to it once yesterday. Feels very Circles/Goodbyes pop Post Malone core.

These numbers aren't surprising tbh. Post Malone was once unstoppable and still has a fanbase; Morgan Wallen is the biggest name stateside that isn't Taylor Swift, and due to him comitting to a single album for a long stretch, both of his projects have had stellar legs on the BB200.

And this summer isn’t done yet. Billie is dropping next week. Travis and Kanye are dropping a joint project.

Once again reinforcing that this year is the best/most exciting year in pop music since 2012.

I sadly can't see Billie coming even close to these numbers, but I'd love to be proven wrong!

Is anyone else who uses Spotify noticing the same thing? I just tried testing the autoplay off a few different songs. I haven't listened to any of the rap beef songs on Spotify and I don't listen to much rap, so that probably drove some of it. Autoplay off of I Had Some Help gave me Not Like Us as the 1st autoplay, and Drake's Family Matters a few songs later. I tried a few big pop songs from 2015-2020. Interestingly did not get another rap beef song BUT I got recommended 7 different Kendrick songs. I suspect his whole discography is being pushed. I bet Spotify has some sort of viral detection thing in their algorithm to capitalize on big trends/moments like this. Cuz for them, pushing an artist's whole catalog probably is better long run than just 1 or 2 tracks.

That's not how autoplay on Spotify works. They don't just put whatever song is #1 on everybody's autoplay. Autoplay is meant to generate similar songs to the song/playlist/album you've just finished (basically to try to guess music that you will like so you keep listening without turning it off or manually having to change the songs). It takes into account what songs, artists, genres, languages and time period you normally listen to, and also takes into account the genre, language, decade, etc, of the song/playlist/album you listened to and also takes into account songs that other people who listened to the song/playlist/album you just finished like to listen to. If you're listening to obscure 80's Swedish electropop music, and have never listened to a Hozier song, and hardly every listen to modern alternative music, then Hozier should not be coming up on autoplay, and if he is, you know something is wrong. A lot of absolutely massive hits have never, ever, not even once, come up on autoplay for me. If it's a feature you use every day it's very noticeable when a song is being artificially boosted in the algorithm. I'm not actually that bothered by labels trying to boost their songs. I understand why they're doing it. They want to try to get the mono-culture hit songs back again, which I completely understand (it essentially mimics the days when the public were forced to keep hearing songs on the radio and eventually they become super well-known and can grow on people). And you can just skip or block songs that you don't like, so I can live with it. But this practice definitely will give a big boost to certain song's streams. I'm actually mostly bothered by people denying that it is happening tbh, because it genuinely is happening and I don't like being made to think that I am going crazy or making up lies when I'm not doing that. You can just skip the song, though, and it won't get a stream count. It's still more accurate than radio where if a song comes on you don't like and you switch the station, the data doesn't really know that.

Spotify HAS now a promotion plan that artists can cut costs in exchange for more auto play. It has been there for a while. But autoplay tends to play the most popular songs and songs you would listen to. Almost every song in the top 50 of Spotify Global has this enabled for them. It isn’t really payola though as you have to have a hit song to do this and all labels do this.

Yeah, again, if a song is getting 12million streams, the algorithm will probably suggest it to you, since odds are you either already like it or might like it just like those other 12million-ish people. It's why I kept getting Fortnight during TTPD's drop week, and I still seem to get a lot of Sabrina Carpenter's Espresso.
Again if someone is bothered by it, just set your playlist to loop back into it. Autoplay never pops up.

Say what you want about Morgan. He makes goooooddddd music. Like 25% of the time. Thankfully it seems that we got that 25% here. Anyways we are really about to get the strongest top 3 in years, maybe ever and it wasnt during an album bomb like TTPD’s (speaking of which that probably would’ve only had around 6 top 10s if it dropped this week) (Also apparently SITO got a new streaming peak both globally and in the US today. This song will never die and i love it!)

Even if all the big names drop and then there’s hardly any left for the remaining of the year, you still got artists that completely come out of nowhere or get lucky enough to have a big hit. Who would’ve thought just 2 months ago that Hozier would have a #1 hit, Sabrina Carpenter would have a ‘greedy’ type hit, and people like Tommy Richman and Shaboozey having smash hits, on top of all of them doing more than 2M+ a day on Spotify.
Now i’m sure the big names won’t release all at once and will most likely spread themselves out through the year, but pop music will probably be fine. Not to mention just all the one off singles they tend to release as well.

Tonight is club night, so that might elicit a bunch of new streams for Not Like Us. Has any other song that has opened atop of Spotify consecutively increased for its first seven days?

Summer 24 has have the strongest start we’ve seen in over a decade surely. We get a top 14 blackout, IMMEDIATELY followed by essentially an unknown nearly matching Taylor’s week 1 streams, Kendrick dropping the biggest Rap song ever and now Morgan is casually droppin 8m damn near 💀. The top 3 at FIVE HUNDRED POINTS in this climate is insanity.
Let’s keep this up, those 200/250 number ones are and will always be mid af

Even if IHSH doesn’t debut at #1, it could probably reach it this summer and perform like Stay. Just has too much widespread appeal to die anytime soon.
