I almost feel like Spotify is pushing the bigger hits to people more recently. I truly doubt Kendrick and/or his label are paying to push a random diss track to autoplay. I'm thinking that Spotify is having bigger songs be pushed more often in autoplay since it's clear people want to hear it. Espresso and Not Like Us both were doing big numbers initially, so it pushes those songs out for autoplay, which then in turn further increases their numbers. Not sure if that's true but that would make a lot of sense.

I also have noticed that I typically won't get a song in my autoplay if I haven't listened to it. I didn't get Espresso until I listened to it a few days after release. Not sure I've ever gotten Too Sweet. Haven't gotten Not Like Us in autoplay but I have listened to it multiple times so it'll come eventually.

I just tried testing the autoplay off a few different songs. I haven't listened to any of the rap beef songs on Spotify and I don't listen to much rap, so that probably drove some of it.

Autoplay off of I Had Some Help gave me Not Like Us as the 1st autoplay, and Drake's Family Matters a few songs later.

I tried a few big pop songs from 2015-2020. Interestingly did not get another rap beef song BUT I got recommended 7 different Kendrick songs. I suspect his whole discography is being pushed. I bet Spotify has some sort of viral detection thing in their algorithm to capitalize on big trends/moments like this. Cuz for them, pushing an artist's whole catalog probably is better long run than just 1 or 2 tracks.

Yeah this is exactly what I'm thinking. I doubt Drake and his label are paying for Family Matters to be frequently in autoplay either. I think if a song is going viral or doing big numbers, Spotify pushes those songs more since lots of people are listening to those.

Oh, it was definitely pushing Espresso on me around TTPD's drop, even though I hadn't willingly listened to it haha. I had listened to Nonsense and Feather before, so I guess that was my soft way of giving them permission to play her next big song.

It's a great week to be a Morgan fan (of course Posty fan too... but Morgan fan on this board with all the hate he gets here)! The #1 on AM pretty much solidifies "I Had Some Help" debuting at #1. Here's hoping this Post Malone collab opens doors in a few more countries for Morgan and allows country music to go just a bit more global.

Whether you hate Morgan or love Morgan, it continues to be another great week for chart watchers as well.

IHSH also had 2.8M views on Youtube, which I don't even know if it's good in this day and age or not. I'd presume the largest chunk of that is from the US, so that should also help considering it's higher than Kendrick.

idk if this will have some impact in the US, but you never know. In the last 5 years, two Eurovision songs appeared on the Hot 100 (Arcade #30 and Snap #67) and Maneskin (2021 winner) reached #13 with Beggin' (their winning song didn't chart).

I remember those couple weeks before "drivers license" having very low streams, but looking at early 2022 the numbers were just as low some days. Even compared to a month ago, the stream counts look massive. "drivers license" felt like a rare occurrence, which it was, but it would fit in well with this top 5 today, and there isn't even an album bomb.

Not that I'd be against it, but I would hardly bet on it. Maneskin with Beggin' and Duncan Laurence with Arcade are probably the only examples of barely moderate successes in the U.S., so Eurovision has just had very little relevancy here. The video "not being available in this country" says it all!

I didn't realize that the Post song is his with a Morgan feature. Does that make a difference? I dunno. Either way seems pretty palatable and could have a lengthy run, including at the top spot. But it is one the most crowded markets in recent memory which is so fun.

Interesting I just noticed that too, which is surprising because if anyone would take the lead you'd think it would be Morgan given how much bigger he is now, and the fact that this isn't attached to anyone's album yet. Actually I would've expected them to both get a co-lead, but I guess it really doesn't matter, you can't say the largest driver of the song's success isn't Morgan.

Anyway I was kind of hoping for a banger with this song but it's just highly mid, and I could kind of see it working better just as a Morgan solo song. Post's part just really isn't necessary. Anyway, it's better than Last Night, so if that did as well as it did, we can only shake at the thought of how long this will last.

I think that IHSH joins NLU (6.593M) and Fortnight (5.306M) as third song with 5M+ streams in its second day. So, Post/Morgan song should decrease on less than 16.3% to be higher than NLU.
Also Zach/Kacey's IRE surpassed Last Night and tied Sunflower in number of weeks with 7M+ streams with 37 after last week.
Posty/Swae Lee song had 9 weeks in top 10 with less than 7M streams and one week outside top 10 with 10.7M streams when tun was released. And its kinda good result talking about #10 weekly numbers as two years ago Heat Waves had 20 consecutive weeks in top 10 including 4 at #1 and 5 at #2 and never hit 7M mark during that time (19 of this 20 weeks was in 6-6.8M range. HW numbers peak was in September 2021 with 8.0M and third-highest week with 7.8M at #21).

I Had Some Help tanked really hard on Spotify. But Million Dollar Baby is now #1 in Spotify Global and is closing in to Not Like Us in the US. It may close the margins to #1 for next week if not this week. Streams across the board tanked hard in general though.

It'll be a race between Not Like Us, I Had Some Help and Million Dollar Baby for #1 this coming week. I think if IHSH doesn't completely tank and is able to stabilize somewhat for the rest of the tracking week, it'll manage a #1 debut because of digital singles/a huge radio debut. Either way, MDB seems set to go #1 the week after that at the latest.

It'd be nice if NLU is #1 this week, IHSH goes #1 next week and MDB goes #1 the week after. I'm always here for quick turnarounds at the top of the charts, especially since all 3 songs will be spending an extended amount of time in the top 10 anyways.

This. The incredible turnover at #1 has been honestly the highlight of this year, really hope it continues. The contrast with 2023 and 2022 is insane

Harx it's even better that most of the songs hitting #1 recently are spending some time in the top 10 and not just dropping out after their peak. I'm here for all of it. Hopefully, we keep getting major hits like this deep into the summer.

Really have to say this is EASILY the most exciting start tto the summer season since 2019 and maybe even since 2017. Time will tell if this will be as sea-changing as 2017 but yeah: TTPD dropping just as Taylor restarts her Eras Tour in Europe, Kendrick and Drake's feud being the most mainstream hip-hop has been since probably WAP and really breaking streaming records, MILLION DOLLAR BABY's rise from out of nowhere, you have your reliable summer songs like Espresso, A Bar Song, and I Had Some Help. We still have Billie's album next week, Future might drop a mixtape soon, Harry Styles and The Weeknd are heavily speculated to announce new albums this year.

I can't even remember 2 months from the 2020-2023 summer season that were as exciting for mainstream music as these last 3 weeks have been.
