The Billboard peak is pretty much irrelevant, except to chart forum users. This wasn't even a planned single and came out of nowhere to become a global smash, the most consumed song in the world for weeks, a defining moment in Billie's career and possibly her signature song. And will get a second chart life next year after the Grammys. BOAF the legend that you are!

Nobody seems to actively push anything to AC radio anymore, except maybe the random independent artist. Gaga/Bruno has been the only one of late. AC radio is where last year's hits go to zombify.

tbf happier then ever didn't get an alt / aaa push either despite being billie's most alt / aaa friendly song ever so. i'm assuming the label doesn't think it's worth pushing post album singles there ?? (at least anymore -- throwback to when ilomilo was pushed to alt as the *sixth* single from the wwafawdwg era and it still managed to go top 30 before my future was released a month or two later

It’s still one of the weirdest things ever to me that Therefore I Am was such a CHR juggernaut. #1 with 20 weeks in the top ten… that’s a freaking massive CHR smash. Bigger than Bad Guy actually. And how? It seems so irrelevant then and now. But very high chance this won’t be able to outperform that here, it’s a tall order.

It's wild how this album is to score a top 3 single on the Hot 100 considering how big it is. Are there any other examples of huge female albums with multiple hits without a single top 3 hit? I can recall OIDIA. Off the top of my head Selena had 5 5 and 7 with a number one album |

Bellyache, Ocean Eyes, idontwannabeyouanymore, You Should See Me In A Crown, All The Good Girls Go To Hell, Lovely(this one in particular). None of these songs made top 40 on the hot 100 but were all super popular. There's also Bury A Friend which actually was a chart hit, but not on pop radio.

Yeah, I think so. The burn rate is simply non-existent. The ending lyrics always make me emotional. I will say I have always gotten heavy Paramore After Laughter vibes from this, and surprised I’ve never seen it mentioned. It would fit perfectly on that album and with Haley’s voice. |
