.......is not by a male lead artist.
When Doves Cry (1984), Gangsta's Paradise (1995), Yeah! (2004), Careless Whisper (1985), Somebody that I Used to Know (2012), and Blinding Lights (2020) are all in the top ten.

And #11 was released in the 20th century.
We Belong Together (2005), Rolling in the Deep (2011), and Levitating (2021) are all in the top ten as well.

Oh fuck off it's going to be either my #2 or my #3???
I guess "Call Me" would be tolerable since it's already been in several top 10s...

there’s some strong recency bias going on here because why are hey jude (i ranked it 11 so close enough), bridge over troubled water, and call me not in the top 10

I'm not always fond of ballads but Hey Jude is among the best. I've known it since my childhood as the 7 minute Beatles song. Last year, I picked the song at a karaoke party and remembered the singing melody very well. I Want to Hold Your Hand is also a fun song but not among my top favorites from The Beatles.
If there are any other future rankdowns that involve the band or its members, I would consider participating.

20. TiK ToK - Kesha (2010) (23): This is such a fun and addiciting party song from Kesha. It's so catchy and just such a blast of a song. I don't think I expected this to do this well but not complaining. Though I will complain that I was only just 3 spots away from a perfect rank, ugh.
19. The Sign - Ace of Base (1994) (39): This is a really fun and cutesy song. I've always liked and enjoyed this song. It's so catchy and enjoyable. Though with that said, I never really loved or was super crazy about this. But it is still my favorite song from Ace of Base.
18. I Want to Hold Your Hand - The Beatles (1964) (52): A classic indeed! I do like and enjoy this song the Beatles. It's fun, catchy and enjoyable. I don't really listen to The Beatles music regularly, so their songs will never rank too highly for me - but I get why they rank as high as they do. But this is also my lowest remaining ranking song left so I'm good with this showing up.
17. Every Breath You Take - The Police (1983) (20): Love this song. It has a really nice and lovely sound to it and Sting sounds great on this song. Though the subject matter of the song isn't so lovely, lol. But yeah still a great song. I'm surprised this made it this high as I thought it would have been much lower. Now that people mentioned MJ's "Billie Jean" being blocked by #1 for this, that is really disappointing to learn about.
16. Uptown Funk - Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars (2015) (4): This is such a modern day classic and iconic song! Absolutely love everything about this song - from the funky music production, Bruno's swagger and vocals and the overall energy. It was tough deciding if I ranked this song too high compared to the older legendary songs but it just felt right. This song is just sooo good and catchy! Also wow so many #12-#16 rankings here. And yayy for no Bottom 10 ranks.
15. Hey Jude - The Beatles (1968) (47): Oh wow, I was not expecting this song to have the highest SD. That is so wowzers. :o Again, like I said with the other Beatles song, I do like and enjoy this but it's not a song I listen to regularly. It's catchy and got that anthemic feel to it particularly with the ending of the song.
14. In Da Club - 50 Cent (2003) (2): Ughh dangg it, I had a feeling that this song would be coming here. :'( Ahh I absolutely LOVE this song so much. I can never get tired of this and can always jam out to this like it was the first time I ever heard it. I can always singing along, rap along and jam along to this song. It just never gets old for me. Love seeing how there are a lot of Top 10s and Top 20s for this song, which it deserves.
13. Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon & Garfunkel (1970) (29): Yeah I have no issues with this being the #1 song of the 70s of this rankdown by far. This is a really beautiful, powerful and moving song. I was first introduced to this from American Idol - thinking Clay Aiken's version. That was an amazing version of this song and yeah this original version is fantastic. Great song and deserving of being this high though it isn't a major favorite for me compare to the songs on this list.
12. Irreplaceable - Beyonce (2007) (8): Aww I love how this song started off at #1 with the first few lists sent in. But ugh sad to see it drop all the way to #12 after all of these lists. I was hoping for this to make it to the Top 10. This is a really gorgeous and smooth song from Beyonce. It's so catchy, easy to singalong to and it's such an earworm. This is another one of those songs I can listen to a ton without ever getting sick of it. Yayy for no Bottom 15 rankings for this!
11. Call Me - Blondie (1980) (34): This is a really fun and catchy song. I love the funky retro vibe of this. It's a fun energetic song and I just like the overall feel and vibe of this. No complaints of this missing the Top 10.
Remaining songs left: 1, 3, 6, 9 12, 13, 16 21 33 42
Hmmm not doing too badly here. I got 7 songs left in my Top 16 spots and yeah I can't complain about that.

Kinda surprised Irreplaceable didn’t make the top 10, thought it was a lock.
Lost my last bottom half ranking with the Sign, but I still liked it.
Would’ve rather seen Call Me over Cali Dreaming in the top 10, but that’s fine.
RIP In Da Club & TiK ToK.
I definitely get some of the tanks (even though I enjoyed it) for Hey Jude, cause if you don’t like the “na-na-na” part, that’s over half the song.
1,2,4,5,6,11,12,14,31,32 really wouldn’t mind most of these winning.

if there's any good to come out of billboard cutting off 3 weeks from their tracking period or whatever in 1966, it's that this was the ye #1 and not fucking ballad of the green berets (to california dreamin)

used to always think this song was overrated but it's clicked with me in recent times, I would say it's deserving of its top 10 placement here

I do not like how the sax riff from this song has been used as a meme. Fortunately, I was able to disregard that when ranking the song as a whole.

I’m so glad this is the most streamed song on Spotify instead of some of the other top songs (Shape of You, Someone You Loved, etc). Instead of growing off me, it’s actually gotten better the more I listen to it.
