Republic's Taylor Swift will spend an eighth week at #1 as THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT is projected to do 128k. Charlie XCX will score the week's top debut with Brat (Atlantic), and Bon Jovi's Forever (Island) rounds out the Top 5 with much D2C love and a first-week projection of 55k.
Also, new this week and just outside the Top 20 will be releases from Meghan Trainor, KAYTRANADA and Ski Mask The Slump God; all three are expected to finish between 19-24k by Friday.
KAYTRANADA | TIMELESS (KAYTRANADA/RCA) 21-24k Meghan Trainor | Timeless (Epic) 20-23k Ski Mask The Slump God | 11th Dimension (Victor Victor/Republic) 19-22k

This is a great debut for Charlotte, exceeding the total sales of all of her previous albums in a solely week.

Great numbers for Billie, a small boost and closer to Taylor than I thought she would be!

Charlotte!!! Damn, so impressive. Those numbers are painfully close to Dua's opening. Which either tells you how well Charli is doing or how poor Dua is. Both?

Great for Charli. If the alleged remix album drops before the tracking week ends, hopefully she can move up to #3.

Love seeing those numbers for Charli, deserved. This really is the year of female artists that have been hustling for years finally coming from behind on the charts. Charli, Sabrina, Tinashe, Chappell to name a few.

Charli XCX did great numbers. Billie and Taylor are sure selling albums too! And Morgan keeps pumping them out as well.

^I was a bit puzzled by that Tweet since it says similar numbers to Dua Lipa's album but didn't mention which. Radical Optimism debuted with 83k SPS/ 51.5k pure sales while Future Nostalgia 66k SPS / 18k pure sales. In terms of SPS, I would think it would refer to Future Nostalgia and in terms of pure sales, Future Nostalgia would be the album with slightly closer numbers.
For sake of reference, Crash did 31.5k SPS / 19k pure sales.

Curious if you think Meghan Trainor will even land in the Top 40? My guess is not?

Those numbers are painfully close to Dua's opening. Which either tells you how well Charli is doing or how poor Dua is. Both? I think this tweet/X post summarizes this, especially the last part which is something Dua needs to build up. Eh....I get Charli's first week definitely is impressive and makes Dua's look underwhelming all things considered. However saying hits matter less than ever in Pop is definitely misleading and a misunderstanding of how music consumption works in 2024. Charli's first week is a win, but the truth is first weeks don't tell the full story and for someone like Dua have never really mattered anyways. Dua's success definitely has taken a hit, but at the end of the day Charli's prior album charted for a total of 3 weeks and she has a very limited ceiling of reach. This one will probably not last notably longer despite the notable first week without any radio support, streaming hits, etc. Dua's album will still chart for a few months at least, reach Gold (maybe even Platinum), and has moderate hits. For me this is like bringing up Lana's Ultraviolence doing a bigger first week than Ariana's My Everything in 2014. That's nice, but in the end first weeks don't tell an entire story, and My Everything ended up being the much bigger album/era regardless of her not having a big first week. At the end of the day, hits and pubic exposure do have a large part in success -- especially when we are seeing Sabrina's meteoric rise in real-time after Espresso/Please Please Please.

Curious if you think Meghan Trainor will even land inO the Top 40? My guess is not? It looks it will. HITS has it at #24. It managed pretty decent pure sales.
On another note, Sabrina Carpenter's will return to the Billboard 200 top 40 thanks to Please Please Please's release week "halo" effect.
